Is It Wrong To Love My StepBrother Alpha Mate?
Chapter 39: The Acting Luna and The Alpha Rite

Chapter 39: The Acting Luna and The Alpha Rite

Helena watched as two warriors dragged Sara, kicking and screaming.

"Damn, that bitch is such a pain," Eleanor huffs as Helena sat back down. "If my brother ever brings someone like her home, I’d give him an earful."

"And yet she could still be any of our brothers’ mate," Rae grumbled. "Like Helena said, every she-wolf in this room, save for those related to them by blood or have been around them during the Blood Moon, can still be their mate."

Stella shivered in disgust, making Helena laugh.

"I can’t imagine my little brother being in the clutches of someone like her," Stella said, wrinkling her nose as if she smelled something foul.

"Just hope that when your brother rises to Alpha, he’ll either have a mate, or he won’t ask for an acting Luna," one of Eleanor’s companions, Vanessa, said.

"Why? What’s wrong with being acting Luna?" Helena asked.

She wasn’t exactly briefed on everything she needed to do for the Rite. She knew that in the events leading up, she’d need to play hostess alongside her mother, but other than that, she’d been kept in the dark.

"How much of the acting Luna role have you been briefed about?" Vanessa asked Helena as she gave Rae a worried look.

To Helena’s surprise, Rae simply smiled and nodded.

"I just know I have to help with the event and stuff," Helena explained.

"That’s all?" Vanessa asked, biting her lower lip as if she was holding back a laugh.

Helena glared but continued to answer, "I do know that there is a blood ceremony during the Rite where I’ll be needed."

Rae laughed and shook her head.

"Did your Dad really agree to letting his step-daughter play the role? Cause my Dad didn’t want anyone blood-related doing it for my brother," Vanessa sighed. "It’s just so taboo."

Rae chuckled, "Well, we aren’t blood-related, and Romeo’s never seen Helena as his sister."

"What are you guys getting at?" Helena asked, curious as to what Vanessa and Rae were talking about.

"It’s your fault for skipping all the girly classes growing up," Rae said, sticking her tongue out.

"Not my fault. I had Alpha classes, too," Helena countered, rolling her eyes. "So what is it?"

"So it won’t be awkward at all. Is that what you’re trying to tell us?" Eleanor asked Rae.

Rae smiled and nodded vigrously.

"She and Romeo have loved each other since they were kids," Rae giggled.

"Have not," Helena argued.

’Oh, you have,’ Hera teased.

"So why haven’t they closed the bond yet?" Eleanor asked. "Save us all the heartbreak from hoping the Alpha is our mate."

"She’s been avoiding him," Rae chuckled.

"Hellooooo!" Helena called out as she waved her hands in the air. "I’m right here."

"Why would you be avoiding that hunk of a man?" Vanessa asked as she licked her lips, making Rae visibly cringe.

"Please, no, he’s actually my brother," Rae said as the table burst out in laughter.

"So why?" Eleanor pushed. "You’re already the best candidate here to be his mate, even without that special bond you have."

"Ooh, I like that, special bond," Rae giggled. "I’ll use that on them next time."

"Doesn’t matter, does it?" Helena shrugged. "He will be mated to whomever the Moon Goddess deems to be his match."

"She’s avoiding heartbreak," Stella suddenly said with her mouth agape.

"Why does all of this matter to the Alpha Rite?" Helena asked, shifting the conversation back on topic.

"Don’t try to change the topic!" Rae scolded her.

"I’m serious here," Helena grumbled. "You start the conversation off talking about the Alpha Rite and my role as acting Luna only to shift to mine and Romeo’s relationship."

"Oh, Alpha, it has everything to do with your relationship," Vanessa teased.

Helena glared at them and didn’t say a word.

They stared at her back, waiting for her to break.

’Just ask them, stop being stubborn,’ Hera pushed her.

’No,’ she firmly said.

Rae raised an eyebrow at her as if to ask what she was waiting for.

"What does my relationship have to do with this?" Helena asked, finally giving in.

"There are many intimate moments during the Alpha Rite between the Alpha and his Luna, acting Luna in your case," Vanessa answered.

"It’s good you don’t see him in a brotherly way," Stella said, nodding.

"Pretty sure the Alpha would be devastated if she saw him in a brotherly way," Chloe teased, making the girls all laugh.

"Do you see him in a brotherly way?" Stella dared to ask, leaning forward. "Cause you know the two of you hooking up is already borderline incest."

"I don’t have to answer that," Helena said, rolling her eyes.

"Oh, you have to," Rae chuckled. "Even if I can already answer it for you."

Helena pouted and sighed.

"No, I don’t see him as my brother, never had," Helena finally confessed.

The she-wolves all cheered, making Helena blush as her mother and step-father looked at them with a curious expression.

"Then she’s gonna enjoy the ritual bath," Vanessa giggled.

"What ritual bath?" Helena asked, shocked by what Vanessa had just said.

"It’s tradition for the Luna to wash her Alpha," Rae told Helena.

"They bathe naked, together," Stella added, making Helena go pale in shock.

"What— why— no one told me this!" Helena whisper screamed as she leaned forward.

"It’s to symbolize the Moon Goddess’s approval over the Alpha," Rae said with a straight face.

Helena stared at Rae, shocked that her best friend and stepsister seemed to know all of this and didn’t even bother to tell her.

"Washes often get heated," Eleanor giggled. "It often ends in—"

"Do not finish that sentence," Rae scolded.

"Anything else you’ve been hiding from me about the Rite?" Helena asked as she glared at Rae.

Rae kept her mouth shut, and the other girls laughed.

"There’s more?!" Helena asked, raising her voice, to which she was greeted by another bout of laugher.

She was about to argue with them when a strong arm was wrapped around her shoulder and her senses were asulted by Romeo’s scent.

"There you are," Romeo greeted her, kissing her on the cheek, making her blush.

"Oh, they’re definitely mates," Eleanor commented, laughing.
