Is It Wrong To Love My StepBrother Alpha Mate? -
Chapter 31: Romeo’s Fan Club
Chapter 31: Romeo’s Fan Club
The moment Romeo stepped out of the car he quickly began to regret it.
"Alpha Romeo, how have you been?" an Alpha around his father’s age said as he approached Romeo, with him were several other Alphas and even more she-wolves.
"I’ve been well, getting back from visiting Stonehill," Romeo answered.
"We heard about the attack, that was awful, are you hurt?" one of the she-wolves said as she reached out and gently caressed his arm.
Romeo yanked back, hitting the car door behind him.
"We heard you were with the Alpha Heir of Stonehill, is he well too?" another she-wolf asked.
"What the—" Romeo cursed as he managed to pull away from the group.
"Yeah, Alpha, are you hurt?" Helena teased as she walked away, giving him a wink.
"Hel—" Romeo began but he was cut off when another group approached him.
"Alpha Romeo, it was quite an honor to receive an invite to your Alpha Rite and the Blood Moon Ball," a man he didn’t recognize but he sensed was an Alpha said. "Our packs aren’t allied yet but we would love to negotiate a treaty."
"I’m sure something can be arranged—" Romeo jumped as a woman grabbed his arm and cooed.
"Wow, you must train really hard, Alpha," she said in a tone he assumed was meant to be seductive.
"They said he just killed ten of the wolves who attacked," another said as Romeo tried to get away from the first woman. "Are you not experiencing any Blood Lust, Alpha? I’m sure I can help."
Romeo cringed visibly as the woman traced her finger along the collar of her dress that was meant to showcase her breasts.
"No," he hissed.
"Are you sure, Alpha?" she purred.
"I said no," Romeo growled making everyone take a step back.
He looked at all the stunned expressions around him and then beyond them were the amused gazes of his Beta and Kade.
Romeo searched for Helena but she was nowhere to be seen.
He didn’t want this to mess with his chance with her, he had to find her, but at the same time, he had a duty to see to these guests, whoever they were.
"Excuse me, but who are you people?" Romeo asked.
Before one of the Alphas could answer, he heard his father’s deep laugh from behind as he placed a hand over Romeo’s shoulder.
"I’m sorry, my son is a little disoriented," Raul sighed. "He did just defend the pack together with the Stonehill Alpha Heir."
The women oohed and aahed at the older Alpha’s words.
"Romeo, remember we invited some guests for the Alpha Rite and Blood Moon Ball?" Raul asked his son. "These are some of the Alphas, their daughters, and the daughters of their higher-ranked members."
Romeo nodded.
He knew that.
I understood that from the first Alpha that had approached him.
"But why are they at the pack house?" Romeo asked his father.
"It’s the Luna’s Banquet!" one of the girls practically squealed.
"Luna’s Banquet?" Romeo looked at his father and raised an eyebrow.
He knew the schedule of events, but he couldn’t recall this particular one.
"Well, it wasn’t originally in the calendar," Raul shrugged. "It requires the new Alpha to have a Luna, she usually hosts it and when Helena agreed to stand in for the Rite her mom decided to push through with it."
Romeo sighed and shook his head.
This banquet was supposed to be in honor of the new Alpha’s Luna and yet it seemed like this would drive an even larger wedge between him and the woman he was hoping would be his Luna.
"Does Helena know about this said banquet?" Romeo asked, annoyed that Helena didn’t mention it to him.
"We told her about it before she left for Stonehill," Raul informed his son.
"Too bad you already have someone filling in for the role of Luna during the Rite, Alpha," one of the bolder she-wolves said.
"Am I still needed here?" Romeo groaned.
He was itching to get away from all of these women and get to Helena. He wanted to spend time with her, to convince her that she was meant to be with him.
"I’m sure your mother and Helena could entertain these ladies," Raul muttered.
"No," Romeo practically growled. "Helena needs to rest."
Raul chuckled and shook his head. "I’ll get Rae on it then."
Romeo held back his annoyance, he didn’t know if his father was genuinely messing with him or what.
"Thank you for visiting, Alphas, ladies, but it’s been a long day," Romeo said as charmingly as he could before he slipped away shutting the door to the pack house behind him.
He was greeted by a laughing Rae and next to her was Helena with an expression he couldn’t quite place.
"Did you enjoy my torment, Rae, Helena?" Romeo asked as he inched closer to his sister and Helena.
"Well, it was nice seeing you panic when that she-wolf had her hand on your arm," Rae chuckled. "Right, Helena?"
Helena didn’t give Rae an answer, she simply grinned and nodded.
Romeo knew something was wrong, her smile didn’t quite reach her eyes and she wasn’t speaking.
"Why are there so many of them anyway?" Romeo grumbled. "We host a Blood Moon Ball often enough."
"You’re so naive sometimes," Rae pointed out as she sat comfortably on the couch.
"He doesn’t get it," Helena added with an annoyed look on her face.
Romeo sighed and shook his head as he walked deeper into the pack house.
He was thankful his father hadn’t let those women into the pack house or he wouldn’t even have this place as a solace.
"Romeo, how many unmated Alphas do you know?" Helena asked with a sigh.
"A few," Romeo said.
"A few, like four or five," Helena chuckled.
"Yeah," he shrugged.
"Romeo, Blackmoon is one of the biggest packs in the world and with Red River it’s probably in the top ten," Helena pointed out.
"Yeah, so?" Romeo was confused as to where Helena was going with her line of thinking.
"Romeo," Helena sighed as she placed a hand on his cheek.
Somewhere in the room, he heard Rae squeal in delight making Helena pull her hand away. Romeo was quick to act, catching her by the wrist and keeping her hand on him.
"Romeo," she repeated. "You’re about to be the strongest unmated Alpha in the world. All she-wolves want a mate a strong as you."
