Is It Wrong To Love My StepBrother Alpha Mate? -
Chapter 101: Wolfsbane
Chapter 101: Wolfsbane
The last thing Helena remembered was chasing after a wolf who’d taken a Witch hostage.
She could still hear the panicked screams of the newly returned witch as a wolf bit into her leg and dragged her through the dark hallway.
Helena groaned as she tried to move, only to find that her arms had been bound behind her back and her legs were tied tightly together.
Every time she tried to tear through them they seemed to burn her skin, making Helena cry out in pain.
"Wolfsbane," a familiar voice said. "I thought it might not work after I learned you were a hybrid, but it seems you have the same vulnerabilities as the rest of us."
"Who are you?" Helena weakly asked. "What do you want?"
Helena’s captor chuckled, his laugh echoing across the room.
"Do you really not recognize my voice?" the man asked. "It must be the Wolfsbane, I heard it dulls a lot of things."
"What do you want?!" Helena demanded, shouting as loud as she could.
The man simply laughed at her question.
Helena tried to break the restraints again, but the more she tried, the more it dug into her skin.
"I’ll get free," Helena hissed. "And when I do, I fucking swear I’m going to kill you."
The man laughed, clearly mocking her threats.
"And what if you can’t?" he asked. "I’ll just keep you sedated."
"Then my Mate will come for me," Helena said, her tone full of confidence. "You should know that my Mate is the Alpha of the Blackmoon pack, one of the most powerful Alphas of our generation."
To Helena’s surprise, the man laughed again.
"Oh little Luna," the man said, his tone practically singing. "That’s what I’m counting on. I want your Mate to fall for this little trap I’ve prepared for him. I want him to come here and try to save you."
Helena was stunned. Most wolves wouldn’t want Romeo to come for them.
He was not just powerful in his own right, but he also commanded the largest armies of wolves especially now that they were mated.
"What do you want from Romeo?" Helena asked.
"Justice," the man answered. "Justice for the murder and destruction of my pack. He came in and killed my father, taking away my birthright, my pack! I’ll make him regret ever stepping foot in my pack."
"You can’t do that," Helena said as a smile crossed her lips.
"Oh really? And why not?" the man asked as Helena felt the haze of the wolfsbane slowly lifting.
"Because he’s stronger than you," Helena answered quite confidently.
To her surprise, the man seemed unfazed by her declaration.
"So naive," the man hummed. "Romeo has one fatal flaw, one weakness, the very thing he believes gives him strength can also take it away."
Helena didn’t answer.
She didn’t know what this man was talking about, heck it seemed like he’d lost his mind.
"Can’t figure it out?" the man asked mockingly.
Something about his voice sounded awfully familiar to Helena. She felt like she should know who it was but the thought kept slipping her mind.
"You’ve become oddly silent," the man said. "I think you need another dose."
She heard the man snap his fingers as someone approached her and grabbed her arm roughly.
Based on the scent and the person’s ability to handle wolfsbane without any harm, Helena assumed it was a witch, but with the effects of the Wolfsbane still in her system Helena couldn’t see or scent those around her clearly.
"My dearest Luna Helena, your mate’s greatest weakness is his love for you," the man said.
As he spoke Helena felt the needle pierce her arm as a fire burned through her veins, it was without a doubt the effect of the wolfsbane.
Helena closed her eyes and focused on her breathing.
She tried to reach out to Hera but to no avail.
She knew it was unlikely that she could reach her wolf, but she had to try.
Crying out in pain she could hear the man’s laughter, he was enjoying her suffering.
"I fucking swear, when I get out of here I’m not just going to kill you," Helena cursed. "You will suffer before I kill you. I’ll make sure to pay you back tenfold for what you’re doing and when you’ve had enough, when you’re begging for death I will not fucking grant it!"
"It seems she needs more," the man said.
At his command, another needle pierced through Helena’s skin and the burning sensation filled her body.
It was so painful that Helena could feel her senses shutting down to protect her.
"You’ll regret this," Helena hissed as the world around her dimmed and she lost consciousness once again.
She didn’t know how much time had passed, but when she came to once more she was haunted by the sound of dripping water.
Her head pounded, probably the effects of all the wolfsbane in her system.
This time, she was alone.
Helena struggled to sit up, it took her a while, but eventually, she was upright and managed to prop herself against the wall.
She studied her surroundings carefully.
There was a dim light that allowed her to see what little was in the room.
It was a small space, probably a basement of a building. She doubted that her captors could take her far.
The ground was hard and the walls damp, with moss growing on the walls.
There was leaky faucet and pale in one corner but it was too far for Helena to crawl to.
She closed her eyes and took deep breaths as she tried to recover from the wolfsbane.
When she was finally ready to move, the door creaked and Helena continued to pretend to be weak.
"So you’re the half-breed the Grand Warlock wants as his heir," a woman said in a mocking tone. "I will not let my people be led by a weakling like you. Even if I have to work with mutts like that filth outside."
