Book 6: Chapter 64:2: Chen Heng Already Started a Killing Spree! Part 2
After eliminating Lancelot, Chen Heng didn’t rush over to loot the crate. Instead, he copied Lancelot’s method and threw two smoke grenades in its direction, running over only after the smoke had risen.
Chen Heng looked at the level 3 helmet in Lancelot’s crate, which had lost only a tiny bit of durability, and nodded in satisfaction.
His shot to Lancelot’s neck had been deliberate. Chen Heng had spotted the level 3 helmet.
The M24 and Kar98k couldn’t kill an enemy wearing a level 3 helmet with a single shot. However, two shots from these rifles were sufficient to eliminate the target if they hit the enemy and didn’t strike the level 3 armor. So, why waste such a valuable helmet? Better to keep it for himself.
Chen Heng picked up the level 3 helmet, along with a few smoke grenades, grenades, and some medical supplies, and then quickly left the area. The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind. Chen Heng didn’t want a sudden snake to swallow this oriole. He slipped away.
Chen Heng took refuge in a nearby two-story red house to regain his composure. However, he couldn’t help feeling a bit uneasy, so he climbed to the second floor.
In this virtual reality game, the shrinking of the poison circle was different from the mobile and computer games. It closely resembled reality, which meant that players didn’t die as quickly as in typical games. To enhance the players’ experience, the game offered both a speed mode and a classic mode. Chen Heng and his team were playing the classic mode.
If the average game time for a round of a mobile or computer-based battle royale game was 29 to 32 minutes, this classic virtual game lasted about an hour.
Was one hour too long? Well, go play the speed mode.
Don’t be fooled by how quickly Chen Heng took a life; he spent quite some time waiting. For a true sniper, sitting in one spot for a day and night isn’t unusual at all.
After finding a suitable hiding place, Chen Heng checked the battle’s situation. What used to be 100 players had dwindled to just 58. This was only after the first circle had closed in. Did these players die this quickly? Were they all so aggressive?
Black:Red—16:11
Remaining Players 5:4
This… Chen Heng glanced at the score and the number of players on both sides, somewhat surprised. While he expected his team to lose members, that was normal; however, the opposing team’s high score was unexpected.
These Servants were different from Chen Heng; they were playing this type of game—or even gaming in general—for the first time. Their performance was surprisingly good. Could it be that Servants were stronger than regular people, even without Noble Phantasms and Personal Skills?
On their side, Minamoto-no-Raikou and the Queen of Sheba had been eliminated. Currently, Jeanne d’Arc was low in health, but she soon recovered to within the white line. It seemed like they had just been in an intense gunfight.
“Jeanne d’Arc, how’s it going over there?”
“When we entered the prison earlier, we ran into a fully equipped team. We lost two teammates in the skirmish, but we wiped them out. They had a skilled player who was quick with kills. They threw a grenade that killed two of our downed teammates, and one got knocked down but was revived. These guys were really determined to take us down with them; they even threatened to report us for illegal teaming up,” Jeanne d’Arc sighed. In truth, Chen Heng’s team had indeed formed an illegal alliance.
“So, what’s your plan now? Are you leaving the prison or holding your ground for now?” Chen Heng glanced at the minimap and noticed that Jeanne d’Arc’s icon hadn’t moved from the prison.
“We’re heading northwest. The first poison circle has already finished shrinking, and the second one barely covers half of the prison’s area. There’s a good chance the third circle will exclude the prison.”
“Alright, mark a spot, and we’ll rendezvous there.”
“Sure, but why are you still in M City?”
“Well, I just eliminated Lancelot. By the way, eliminating an enemy Servant gives you two points.”
“You just found out? Weren’t you paying attention to the rules?”
“Erm…the signal around here is terrible. I didn’t say anything earlier, and you didn’t hear anything, either.”
“The signal is terrible…. Can’t you come up with a more believable excuse?”
“Uh-huh, the signal really is bad here. Got it. I’m cutting off team communication for now.”
“…”
After this, Chen Heng immediately closed the team communication.
This game was a simulation, and if you used team or global chat, nearby players could overhear you, unless you completely turned off the sound, but then, even your teammates wouldn’t be able to hear you.
Chen Heng wanted to listen carefully for any sounds nearby to avoid getting ambushed, so he turned voice communications off. He wasn’t worried about losing contact with his teammates; after all, there was still text communication.
In case of an emergency, both sides could communicate via text, and Chen Heng would reopen team communication later.
Chen Heng topped up by consuming some energy drinks and then emerged from the second floor of the building. Filling up using drinks is crucial; trust me, it really is.
Next, he went in search of the Jeep he had left behind. Standing on the road, he couldn’t spot any other vehicles, not even a tricycle.
The Jeep Chen Heng had abandoned still had plenty of fuel. Driving to the marked location would pose no problem at all.
Once it turned into reality, the island wasn’t particularly large. Chen Heng stepped on the gas pedal and arrived about 200 meters from the house Jeanne d’Arc had marked in less than six minutes.
Upon reaching the area, Chen Heng didn’t immediately drive up to the house. Instead, he opened the minimap and confirmed the positions of Jeanne d’Arc and the others.
When the minimap showed that Jeanne d’Arc’s team was inside the wooden house ahead, Chen Heng stepped on the gas and drove toward it.
When parking the Jeep outside the house, Chen Heng tried to get it as close to the building as possible. He used the nearby bushes and trees to hide the Jeep and then opened the car door and got out.
As soon as Chen Heng entered the house, he saw all the Servants except for Minamoto-no-Raikou and the Queen of Sheba.
“Hey, Eresh-chan, you’re looking even cuter,” Chen Heng greeted upon entering. His first greeting wasn’t to Jeanne d’Arc but to Lancer Ereshkigal. He didn’t know why, but when he looked at the tsundere Ereshkigal, he couldn’t help wanting to tease her.
“Chan…I said, don’t call me Eresh-chan. You’re unbelievable.” Eresh-chan was incredibly thin-skinned, or rather she hadn’t interacted with many males before. After being summoned, she hadn’t seen any males besides King Hassan, who—as everyone knows—rarely spoke and often remained fully armored.
