Invincible Divine Doctor of the Beautiful Lady -
Chapter 46 - 46 44 Saving People
46: Chapter 44 Saving People 46: Chapter 44 Saving People “Help!”
A shrill scream suddenly pierced the air, startling Tangyu and his friends who were just about to hail a cab home.
They turned towards the source of the noise and were greeted with a vicious scene that made the women instinctively retreat behind the men.
Zhong Xiaoling immediately grabbed Tangyu’s arm, clinging tightly to him, while Wen Jing uncontrollably seized Wang Dazhuang’s hand.
When scared and anxious, women instinctively grab onto anything they can, regardless of what it is.
That’s why many guys, eager to take advantage of girls, like to scare them.
When women are startled, they unconsciously seek a sense of security.
Tangyu also looked over, his eyebrows slightly raising in concern as he saw five or six men armed with knives chasing after a man not far away.
Such a scene unfolding on the street took everyone by surprise as pedestrians scattered in fright, their panicked screams adding to the chaos.
“Hmm, it’s Li Jie,” Tangyu, with his excellent vision, recognized the pursued man even from a distance under the cover of darkness.
Although Li Jie carried a bit of pride and had gone out of his way to target him over some issues earlier that day, Tangyu admired his capability and attitude at work; he was truly the pillar of their team.
Zhou Liang and the others also respected Li Jie, even though he might have been somewhat aloof and not the most sociable person.
“It’s Brother Jie—,” Wang Dazhuang quickly recognized him too and exclaimed in shock, eliciting a start from everyone present.
They exchanged nervous looks, hesitant in the face of the six menacing knife-wielding men, knowing their own strengths might not be enough to intervene and help.
“Save me!” Li Jie, upon seeing Tangyu and the others, cried out for help.
By now, he was nearly exhausted; if no one came to his rescue, he knew he would be overtaken and viciously stabbed by the attackers following him.
“Damn it, I’m going for it,” Wang Dazhuang cursed under his breath, gritting his teeth as he readied himself to rush to the rescue, and Zhou Liang along with four other men were prepared to risk it all as well.
Warmth filled Tangyu’s heart, realizing that his work colleagues truly were like a family, ready to risk everything to save one of their own in such perilous circumstances.
It was certainly admirable.
Despite his lack of fondness for Li Jie, Tangyu couldn’t just stand by idly; after all, he was a colleague and, in a way, his superior.
Stopping Wang Dazhuang, who was about to dash forward, he held back the others, saying, “Don’t act rashly, or you’ll get hurt.
Let me handle this.”
With that, he surged forward to the surprise of everyone around him, pulled Li Jie back, and pushed him behind himself.
At the same time, Tangyu bellowed, “What do you think you’re doing?
Do you want to commit a crime in the middle of the street?
Do you have no regard for the law?”
Tangyu’s forceful shout, resonating with an indescribable authority, stunned the six attackers with knives, making them halt involuntarily.
Just by looking at their attire and demeanor, one could tell they were troublemakers from the underworld, emboldened to chase and threaten someone so brazenly in public.
The most shocked, without a doubt, was Li Jie himself.
He had resigned himself to a fatal end today; if he wasn’t hacked to death, he expected to spend months recuperating in a hospital.
But in his moment of despair, he encountered Tangyu and his colleagues, never expecting that the first to rush to his aid would be the newbie Tangyu—who he had targeted earlier that day.
As Wang Dazhuang and the others arrived, standing by Li Jie’s side, seeing their familiar faces and feeling their concern and strength, Li Jie was deeply moved and his eyes reddened.
“Damn it, you dare to meddle?
Chop them all,” a man around forty, with a grim face, barked angrily and, raising his knife, charged at Tangyu.
A glint of cold light swept through the air, striking like lightning towards Tangyu.
This sight was truly startling.
Such incidents are often heard about, but it’s rare to actually encounter them.
Tangyu sidestepped, dodging the man’s knife.
Simultaneously, with both hands moving like a pair of Flood Dragon-taming scissors, he grabbed the man’s wrist and yanked it downward.
With his other hand, he pressed hard on a vital spot with two fingers.
Pulled by Tangyu and propelled by his own momentum, the man’s body naturally lurched forward, shielding Tangyu’s actions from the onlookers’ view.
Of course, at that moment, nobody was paying attention to these details.
“Ahh——”
The man let out a scream of agony as his face twisted in pain.
The moment Tangyu released his grip, the man crashed to the ground, convulsing in sheer torment.
This scene made everyone’s eyes widen in shock.
Everything had happened too swiftly, from the man’s knife attack to his fall; it all unfolded within barely two breaths’ time, so fast that it left people dazed and clueless about what had just transpired.
The burly, fierce-looking man with the knife was now on the ground, unable to get up.
Li Jie and the others looked at Tangyu with drastically changed expressions, not expecting the seemingly frail and delicate Tangyu to be so formidable.
He had knocked down a large man in the span of just two breaths.
“Shit——so damn——brutal——” Wang Dazhuang’s expression was extremely exaggerated.
This move truly intimidated the remaining five men.
They exchanged glances and, despite their apprehension, charged fiercely towards Tangyu.
Five gleaming knives sliced through the air, sending shivers down one’s spine.
Tangyu struck again, and as cries of anguish rose, one by one, the figures collapsed onto the same path as the first man, writhing in agony on the ground.
Soon, only the last man remained standing.
His face was etched with fear.
He glanced at the five on the ground, wanting to back down but not daring to.
Clenching the knife in his hand as if to regain some confidence, he bellowed and rushed at Tangyu.
Tangyu shook his head and effortlessly snatched the knife from the man’s grip.
The theft left the man stunned, and somewhat bewildered.
This man had taken part in a few fights before, but they had always been cases of ganging up on a weaker party, which had been easy.
This time, however, he had clearly met his match.
Losing his knife, his confidence shattered, and fear spread through him once more.
Tangyu brandished the knife and violently chopped down towards the man’s head.
“Ah——no, please——”
The man’s legs gave out from fear, and Wang Dazhuang and the others couldn’t help but clench their hearts, worried that Tangyu might actually go through with the cut.
Although it was self-defense, if it resulted in a fatality, it would be a major problem.
Fortunately, Tangyu’s knife stopped right above the man’s head.
The blade touched the tips of his hair but did not chop down.
The man, frightened to the core, had closed his eyes and was shaking uncontrollably; he had even wet himself, but at that moment, no one felt like laughing.
The man slowly opened his eyes and saw that the knife hadn’t fallen; he let out all the tension he had built up and immediately expressed his gratitude to Tangyu, “Thank you, thank you.”
Tangyu threw the knife aside and said, “You’re young yet acting like a thug.
If I catch you committing crimes again, I will cut down for real next time.”
“Yes, yes, yes, I won’t dare to do it again.” The man nodded eagerly and then took off running, not bothering with the others anymore.
Just then, a police car charged over, screeching to a halt.
The car had barely stopped when a figure jumped out.
Tangyu was taken aback, for the person arriving was Captain Song Qingyu.
Wang Dazhuang and the others were stunned by Song Qingyu’s beautiful face, which was unforgettable at a single glance.
Staring at Song Qingyu, coupled with her uniform, only added to the allure of the uniform.
Regardless of what they were into, the attraction to a uniform was always hard to resist.
A flash of surprise crossed Song Qingyu’s lovely eyes as well.
She hadn’t expected to encounter Tangyu here.
Her cold gaze swept Wang Dazhuang and the others, prompting them to avert their gazes.
Song Qingyu glanced at the five men lying on the ground and asked, “Tangyu, what’s going on here?”
“You know each other?”
Wang Dazhuang and his group were bewildered.
This beautiful policewoman knew Tangyu?
Tangyu said, “Captain Song, I’m not sure about the specifics.
You should ask my boss, Brother Jie.”
Song Qingyu turned to Li Jie and asked, “I received a call from a concerned citizen earlier, saying that someone was wielding a knife and murdering people in the street.
Are you the victim?”
Li Jie immediately nodded and replied, “Yes, Captain Song.
These people chased after someone with knives.
I ran for my life and fortunately bumped into some colleagues from the company.
It was Tangyu who acted to save me; otherwise, I would have probably been hacked to death by their indiscriminate knifing.” As he spoke, Li Jie looked at Tangyu with eyes filled with gratitude.
Any previous prejudices he held against Tangyu had long since disappeared.
Song Qingyu raised an eyebrow and said, “Then tell me exactly what happened.”
Li Jie’s face reddened, looking embarrassed, as if he didn’t know how to start explaining.
“What’s the matter, is there a problem?” Song Qingyu looked at Li Jie and asked.
Li Jie replied, “No, Captain Song, it’s not that—it’s just that the situation might be a bit complicated.”
Song Qingyu didn’t press further, “Alright, if you’re not comfortable talking about it here, that’s fine.
When my colleagues arrive, you can go back to the station with them and give a detailed statement.
If you don’t clarify what happened, we won’t know how to handle these people, right?”
“I understand, thank you, Captain Song.” Li Jie nodded.
Three more police cars soon arrived, and several officers got out.
Under Song Qingyu’s orders, they handcuffed the five ruffians, took Li Jie with them, and quickly cleared the scene.
“Bro, I’m seriously in awe of you.
You’re a god to me.
I’ve decided to put your photo in my living room and bow to it morning and night.” Wang Dazhuang said with pure admiration.
Tangyu glared at him and retorted, “Do you think I’m deceased or something?”
Wang Dazhuang immediately shook his head and said, “Bro, I didn’t mean it that way at all.
I truly see you as a god, a god I worship.”
“Worship my ass.” Tangyu cursed.
He still wanted to live a few more years.
“Tangyu, are you heading back?” Song Qingyu suddenly asked.
Tangyu looked over and nodded, “Of course, it’s late.
Do you need anything else, Captain Song?”
“Nothing much, I’m on my way too.
If you’d like, you can hitch a ride in my car,” offered Song Qingyu, and with that, she got into her car.
Tangyu was taken aback.
Why was Song Qingyu suddenly being so nice to him?
Saying it was on the way was for the benefit of Wang Dazhuang and the others; Tangyu knew it wasn’t really on the way.
Though it was in the same direction, taking him home would certainly mean going out of her way.
However, since Song Qingyu offered him a ride home, Tangyu couldn’t be overly sentimental about it and smiled, “Then thank you, Captain Song.” He then said to Wang Dazhuang and the rest, “You guys go ahead, I’ll be off.
See you at the company tomorrow.”
“I’m so jealous—” Wang Dazhuang’s eyes shone as he opened his mouth wide.
