Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?! -
Chapter 264 - 264 - Tying some loose ends (Part 3)
Keeran inhaled deeply and looked at me and then his grandpa. I did not say anything even after a few minutes. Keeran sighed and added, "Luna, my mana heart resonated with you the first time I saw you. I am not saying this for you to pity me or accept me. I know you aren't interested in me at all. That's all I have to say for now."
Grandpa Mage talked, "If I don't push for this engagement, nothing will happen. You only admitted to liking Luna today and how long has it been seen you first saw her? It takes you several months before you say something useful for once. You do nothing but read books, research and rot in your room. Will you ever get married at this rate?"
Keeran was about to refute but I cut him off by responding, "I totally understand the thing about resonance. That's uncontrollable. I don't know where this "like" comes from but you have nothing to worry about. That engagement contract only lasts for 6 months. It has already expired and turned to ash. There's nothing we need to talk about anymore."
Keeran's eyes widened as he stared at my face, as if trying to confirm if what I said was the truth. Since I did not even give him a glance, he stared at his grandfather for confirmation. His grandfather simply declared, "The engagement no longer exists. You can freely do whatever you want with your marriage and your life. I guess I am not meant to see my great-grandchildren in this lifetime."
This time, Keeran looked back at me in panic. He then slid off the chair and kneeled in front of me suddenly. He then said, "I really like you from the first time I saw you. I want to be married to your family. I will be obedient and useful. I am still a virgin! I am a talented mage and artist. I have my own money and I can work harder to earn more! I know basic household chores too. I have quite a few admirers so I think I look appealing enough. I can at least say I am not ugly. I-"
Before he could add more things to praise himself, I stopped him, "Stop! Can you stop kneeling and just take a seat? After that, we'll talk. You just said you were calm. You don't sound calm at all right now."
Keeran immediately stood up and sat obediently as ordered. He has turned into another puppy! How amusing.
After he sat and looked calmer, I continued, "Let's calm down and not talk about this anymore." I looked at Grandpa Mage and said, "I just came here to refill the orbs to avoid issues in the next couple of months at least."
Grandpa Mage nodded and smiled, "Thank you for doing this even if you do not have to." He handed me 10 empty orbs and I handed him 12 filled ones. When Keeran saw the orbs, he immediately commented, "These orbs look familiar."
His grandpa replied, "It is what I have been using so I can take care of you whenever you had mana flare ups. You also use it to calm down those flare ups which is why you were doing quite well for the last few months."
Keeran looked at his grandpa and asked, "She's the supplier? What exactly is inside these things?" I answered readily, "It's my mana and a bit of my essence. It calms down your mana heart and the resonance down."
Keeran looked at me, "How did you know about my flare ups? Why do you have to do this when you don't even want me?"
I smiled and answered, "I would not be doing it if I didn't know, that's for sure. Who do you think calmed down your worst flare up before?"
He looked at me in disbelief, "My grandpa was the one with me when that happened." I asked teasingly, "And what do you think he did to calm the flare up?"
He answered, "He used his mana to subdue mine. He bathed me to cool down the heat too."
I laughed and replied, "He couldn't even get near you since your mana flared up violently even more due to incompatibility. I am the only one who can approach you. You stink really bad at that time so I cleaned your room and bathed you. That was also the time I gave the orbs to avoid the same thing happening in the next months. I think it has been doing its job quite well, so far."
I stared at his face and as the truth dawned on him, his face started to turn red and his hands involuntarily grabbed on to his clothes tighter. He stared at me and he started murmuring, " You have seen... touched... No way."
I looked at Grandpa Mage and said, "Since we've gotten these things out of the way and I have already made the delivery, I think were done here. Oh! Grandpa, do you have any spells that you know of that can clone me or like divide my body and soul to different parts? I want to be able to go and stay in different places at once."
Grandpa Mage looked at me curiously and promised, "I will look into that and have people in the library look for books that might help you out. As for the spell, I haven't heard of one but if it is you, I think you can just create one of your own to use."
I smiled and said my thanks. I stood up and started saying my goodbyes when Keeran grabbed my hand. He then said, "Can we speak in private?" Grandpa Mage stood up and made excuses that he needed to give instructions to search for the books I need and left his office.
I sat back down and took my hand back from this grumpy person's paws. I asked immediately, "What is it?" He answered, a helpless smile on his face, "Can you at least pretend that you want to talk to me or that you stayed here on your own free will?"
I looked at him and answered a short "Nope". He sighed and asked, "Can you at least give me a chance?" I asked back with a raised eyebrow, "What chance?"
He looked at me with pleading eyes, "Can you at least keep me as your lover? You can keep me hidden. I won't ask for much. Visit me only whenever you feel like it but hopefully at least once a month?"
Pleading with a face like that and attacking me with that sweet smell at the same time is not
fair! I am weak to beautiful men!
I kept my facial reaction as emotionles as possible although I am screaming in frustration inside. I replied, "Do you even know what being my lover means? Virgins don't offer themselves to others like this you know? I don't want to tell you this but I think you have gone crazy."
He looked at me with a blank face and then answered nonchalantly, "I actually think I did become crazy. No! I was in denial then when I realized it was resonance I went crazy. I was hit by it so unexpectedly that I think I got anger issues for a while too. I finally became calm when I accepted it and ate up all of my pride. I then realized that it wasn't just resonance. I like you too! I looked for you like a crazy person after I met you at the entertainment district and when I found out who you are I stalked you desperately too. Now I am here in front of you begging for scraps after telling my self I hated being engaged to you by force. Yeah, I have really gone crazy."
He laughed awkwardly for a while then he covered his face with both his hands then I heard soft sobs from him. I honestly do not know what to say with that "confession" I just heard, if it can even be called one.
I am about to take in five men into my family in a few days. What am I supposed to do with this one? Why are these men getting more and more creative in convincing me to take them in?
I sighed heavily and asked a random question, "Your name is Keeran, right? How old are you right now?"
He slowly removed his hands from his face and wiped his tears with the back of his hands. He then answered, obviously very confused, "Yes. Yes? Umm. I'll be 22 in a few months."
I smiled awkwardly and introduced myself for the first time, "We have not introduced ourselves formally. My name is Luna. I am a first year student in the academe and I recently turned 18. Can we delay this talk at least till the early half of next year?"
He looked at me blankly and replied, "Oh! I am Keeran. I am a Rank 6 mage working in this magic tower. I am the only grandson of the man who owns this office we are in. I work part-time as an artist in the entertainment district where you first saw me. I didn't know you were way younger than me and, yeah. We can talk about it later. I will wait for your response."
I may have not fully dodged the bullet but I at least delayed being hit by it for a few months at least.
I stood up and offered my hand for a handshake which Keeran accepted. I pulled his hand abruptly and he jerked forward. I reached for his left ear and placed an earring on him and then gave him a smack on the lips.
The guy looked stunned and he reached for his ear where the earring was, his face red and his eyes confused looking at me. I hurriedly spoke, "Earring for shared storage, communication and protection. Thank you, kiss for being understandin. Bye!" I immediately teleported back to my suite in Moonlight Inn to escape the situation.
