Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix -
Chapter 1316 - 1316: Armies
In a moment of clarity, Rain recognized the obstacle hindering his progress, the bodies that served as the core of the massive monster were none other than the lords of the monsters that attacked. Whether through their own volition or under the coercion of the master of the prison, these powerful enemies had willingly amalgamated to form the heart of the monstrous amalgamation.
Undeterred by the grim revelation, Rain swiftly devised a new plan. Focusing all the corrupt power that enveloped his body onto the ominous sword, he unleashed a formidable strike. The weapon, augmented by both corrupt energy and Rain's vast mana pool, became a force to be reckoned with.
With many powerful swings, Rain targeted the limbs of the fused lords, severing their connection to the rest of the beast. The monstrous entity convulsed as the corrupted energy was disrupted, causing it to writhe in pain. The disconnection of the lords from the core destabilized the creature, revealing a vulnerability that Rain was quick to exploit.
Ignoring the grotesque nature of his task, Rain continued to strike with precision. Limb after a limb fell, and the once-unified monster began to crumble. The lords, now separated and weakened, were unable to maintain their merged form. As the last connection was severed, the once-massive entity collapsed, dissipating into a dark mist.
Eventually, Rain pierced the chests of the lords and turned them into cores.
The skill Ethereal Weaponry leveled up.
The Wrath path leveled up.
The skill Limit Breaker leveled up.
The Wrath path leveled up.
…
Rain began to fall, and he took a deep breath when he landed. Letting out all his frustration in a few attacks was pretty good for controlling his anger. Still, he felt pretty disgusted as countless corpses began to fall around him, and blood fell like a downpour.
"How are you guys doing? Things on my end are over… or maybe not," Rain said when he felt the ground trembling again.
The weird aura hadn't decreased, and Rain soon saw another group of monsters coming from the same direction… they definitely were from other groups of lords and that was annoying… the master of the prison just have tempted them with the quite the offer.
"We are halfway done on my side," Terra said. "Ugh, this is too disgusting… not even in the wars that we fought in the past. I felt like this."
"Same here, and it also seems that reinforcements are approaching," Sealyn added. "Even with the doppelgangers, things will get complicated pretty soon."
"... What about Esmeralda's group?" Rain asked.
"It doesn't look like they are coming, I am on the side that they are located in," Seadrei replied. "From what I can see, it seems that their distant neighbors want to fight us while ignoring the fact that they are showing their backs to them."
Explain that it was convenient that Esmeralda and the others weren't taking advantage of the chaos, but Rain couldn't relax yet.
"... If things get too dicey, you are free to use the sins paths, but don't overdo it," Rain said. "Focus on the Lustful Battle Path since it has skills that will help your allies and that can stack."
Level 20: Lustful For Battle - Inspires allies with feelings of desire and determination, granting a temporary boost to their strength. Temporarily boosts the strengths of all allies within a radius of the level of the skill multiplied by ten. The boost of strength is the same value.
Level 25: Lustful For Knowledge - Inspires allies with feelings of desire and determination, granting a temporary boost to their Intelligence. Temporarily boosts the Intelligence of all allies within a radius of the level of the skill multiplied by ten. The boost of intelligence is the same value.
Level 30: Lustful For Skill - Inspires allies with feelings of desire and determination, granting a temporary boost to their Dexterity. Temporarily boosts the Dexterity of all allies within a radius of the level of the skill multiplied by ten. The boost of Dexterity has the same value.
Rain told his friends to focus on that path in the last few days, but it was unlikely that they reached that point already. Now, it was their chance To level up those skills and make them even more efficient.
"I don't need them since I am fighting alone, but perhaps…" Rain thought and then summoned his doppelgangers. "As expected, it would be too much if it were to work like this."
The next group of enemies finally arrived in the area… and Rain realized that things were getting even more grotesque. One of the groups of monsters that were approaching were two-headed giants that had clubs on their hands that were essentially trees… complete trees.
Another group of monsters looked like a mix of salamanders and mermaids, but they looked a lot uglier since they had big mouths filled with teeth as well. At the same time, they had some crimson scales, and they were armed with pairs of curved swords.
The final group of monsters was another bunch of cloaked individuals that looked a bit like the arcanists; at least their aura looked like that; Rain couldn't be certain since he couldn't see them.
"This isn't a coincidence; this is a pretty balanced group," Rain thought.
The orchestrated diversity among the approaching monster groups revealed a calculated strategy implemented by the master of the prison. The master, recognizing Rain's abilities, sought to challenge him by sending two distinct types of melee fighters, offensive and defensive.
The offensive force, represented by the two-headed giants wielding colossal tree-like clubs, aimed to overwhelm Rain with sheer brute strength. In contrast, the defensive group, a fusion of salamanders and mermaids armed with curved swords, intended to test Rain's agility and defensive prowess.
To complement the melee threat, a third group of cloaked individuals resembling arcanists comprised the magic-focused ensemble. This group aimed to engage Rain from a distance, applying strategic pressure with arcane abilities and spells…
"Well, I will show you something else…" Rain said and then used Impulse.
