Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix -
Chapter 1314 - 1314: Monstrous Amalgamation
"I will keep the telepathy channel open, so inform each other of any possible changes and if you need help as well," Rain said. "Maintain your usual formations and work together."
"You will have to fight alone again?" Terra asked while furrowing her eyebrows.
"It seems that he is thinking like back then, that we were a nuisance…" Seara said.
"Stop saying nonsense," Rain said. "Remember to kill the enemies with the relics in order to get the cores from the lords if they show up. If they don't, kill them all."
The sea of monsters approaching Rain had all kinds of creatures, dark hounds, humanoid creatures that walked on four legs and had distorted bodies, monsters that were swimming on the ground, even winged dwarves… Getting the cores of those guys will be a massive pain in the ass, and that usually takes time as well, but for now, Rain was satisfied with getting a copy of each one.
Without hesitation, Rain charged toward the monsters, and soon they began to bombard him with dark projectiles… swords made of dark flames exploded, and the flames burned even the air in a wide radius. Spears hit the ground creating gravitational fields that sunk even the ground, and arrows multiplied themselves in the air while flying… avoiding all that would be a massive pain in the ass.
"You keep feeding the enemy that put chains on you… retards," Rain thought while glaring at them.
Rain disappeared from their field of vision and they looked around trying to find him, but Rain suddenly appeared in front of the army of monsters completely unscachted. For starters, he raised his hands and then used the Electric Mage's path since he had been practicing it for a while.
He fired several lightning bolts upward that immediately fell from the sky and multiplied, shocking all the monsters in the area.
The skill Ligthning Surge leveled up.
The Electric Mage's path received 610 experience points.
The skill Ligthning Chain leveled up.
The Electric Mage's path received 330 experience points.
While the enemies around were being shocked to death, Rain impaled the hearts of some monsters and then turned their essence into cores. He thought that he could analyze them, even without Sakaki's help, by combining the electric mage's path and another skill.
Level 10: Psychometry - Gain insights into the history of objects or people by touching them. Higher levels grant you more information about the target and make you obtain the information that you want faster.
When Rain shocked the cores and used Psychometry on them, the cores were destroyed… he felt that he had done the right thing, but he used too much energy. Regardless, after a few more attempts, he finally pulled it off.
The skill Archery received 5000 experience points.
The Greed path received 5000 experience points.
"Eh?" Rain muttered in shock.
Thanks to Rain's confusion, the enemies had the chance to surround him and then grab parts of his body… Rain felt his skin being peeled off, his parameters decreasing, and his health and stamina being stolen… being attacked by so many corrupted creatures was more than a little pain in the ass.
The enemies stopped soon enough when Rain used Chain Lightning on them. As the monsters were paralyzed, Rain summoned his doppelgangers and then they began to pierce the hearts of the hald dead monsters and turned their essence into cores as well. They dropped those on the ground and kept advancing through the enemy's lines.
"At least give them to me properly… why am I complaining when I made them focus on the enemies?" Rain thought and then used Telekinesis to take the cores.
The skill Swordsmanship received 5000 experience points.
The Pride path received 5000 experience points.
Maybe it was a matter of skill, and Rain's ability to analyze the cores was subpar, or maybe he couldn't expect much from ordinary minions. Either way, it was better than nothing… Rain was also gaining experience when killing the monsters, after all. Since he had gained experience two times, the prison master hadn't gained anything.
"If your game is rigged, I will make it even more rigged," Rain said.
The Rain stopped using lightning magic, and then he summoned countless mana swords and mana bows and made them fly around him before shooting toward the enemy's necks. The beasts tried to resist, but from that distance, the projectiles basically hit them in the blink of an eye, and while they were agonizing, the doppelgangers created even more cores out of them.
Those cores made the most basic skills like Swordsmanship, Archery, and Spearmanship level up, so Rain's attacks only grew stronger… it was a splendid vicious cycle.
Still, the enemy soon realized that things couldn't stay like that if they wanted to win… as such, they probably made some agreement with the lords because Rain felt the atmosphere changing.
As the ground trembled beneath Rain's feet, he sensed a shift in the battlefield. The monsters, once eager to attack him, now frantically retreated while desperately fending off the onslaught of mana swords and arrows. Although some succumbed to the barrage, a significant number managed to escape the immediate danger.
Amidst the chaos, the colossal form of a monstrous entity emerged on the horizon. This monstrous creature seemed to be an amalgamation of countless distorted and grotesque faces contained within a malformed, floating sphere of flesh. Its appearance was both unsettling and perplexing as if it embodied the twisted essence of the prison itself.
Rain observed the approaching monstrosity with a disgusted gaze.
The lords, presumably in collaboration with the master of the prison, had summoned this abomination to counter his attack, but soon Rain learned what was truly going on… the monsters that escaped began to float toward the grotesque creature and began to be absorbed by it… little by little, the monstrosity began to grow in size and in power…
"Ew, gross… I shouldn't have expected anything less from retards," Rain thought.
