Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 1274 - 1274: Tricks up their sleeve

The doppelganger quickly blocked the dark mana sword with his copy of the ominous Sword, but soon it was pushed away by Rain when he punched the creature… the doppelganger spun in the air violently before landing on the ground and rolling for a short while, but soon it got up.

You have lost the skill Limit Breaker.

"... Even when I am attacking, huh," Rain thought while furrowing his eyebrows. "I should have known."

Rain checked his status and confirmed the steal… he couldn't even recall anymore how that skill worked. The enemy not only stole the technique, but also stole the knowledge of it. In the next moment, the monster's body began to bulge as he activated Limit Breaker. All of a sudden, he looked even more imposing than Rain.

"Heh," Rain thought. "This might be fun…"

Rain covered his arms and legs with ice, and soon they turned dark. The enemy raised its guard to face him, but soon, it began to move around faster while keeping Limit Breaker active.

Still, when the beast was on the right side, Rain suddenly kicked the ground and attacked the beast with his punch… the monster blocked the attack with the copy of the ominous Sword, and this time, it was only pushed away a couple of meters.

While the enemy fixed his stance, Rain charged again and punched the same way… but in the last moment, only an afterimage was left. The creature was kicked on its back by Rain, who followed the attack with an axe kick in the air.

"Can't you steal my skills now?" Rain asked. "Try again, give it some hits, that might fix it."

The doppelganger quickly got up and tried to grab Rain's leg, but he jumped away and avoided it. Rain thought that the monster would be stronger since it was supposed to be the concentration of a bunch of them, but it fell short.

Rain, engrossed in his battle with the doppelganger, noticed Sealyn gracefully handling her own adversary with a barrage of ice spears. The relentless assault kept the creature at a distance, preventing it from making any advances. Glancing around, he saw the other squad members strategically utilizing their summoned shields and spears to fend off their respective doppelgangers.

The air crackled with the clash of mirrored skills and techniques, each member facing their own reflection. Rain's initial skepticism about this risky strategy started to wane as he witnessed the effectiveness of Sealyn's plan. The doppelgangers, despite their copied abilities, struggled to match the coordination and experience of the original squad.

When Rain looked at the monster again, he saw the beast summoning some shadows on its arms and legs and hardening them… it was quite annoying to see that happening. Rain hated unoriginal enemies like that.

"I don't have time to waste against a minion," Rain thought.

The Doppelganger charged and then tried to punch Rain, but when their fists collided, Rain was pushed away and rolled on the ground… to think that the enemy would be able to copy even the power of the dark ice… in the next moment, Rain saw the beast falling from the sky and ready to smash his head with a knee attack, but Rain rolled to the side and then got up and avoided the hit.

The Doppelganger followed him with a sidekick, but soon Rain blocked it by raising his right knee. Rain was pushed away once again, but only for a couple of meters. In the next moment, the monster was bombarded in the air by countless punches that it was unable to see… the impacts prevented the creature from being pushed around, and eventually, the creature exploded in a pile of dark ink.

You recovered the skill Limit Breaker.

"Why don't you copy this?" Rain asked while raising his eyebrows.

The skill Scholar's Insight leveled up.

The skill Frost Throne leveled up.

The Wrath's path leveled up.

Rain groaned as he felt his head aching thanks to the level-ups on the Wrath's path. Despite the pain, he felt the surge of power taking over his body, and that made his body relax enough to make the rage trying to take over…

As Rain took several deep breaths to calm the surge of power and anger from the recent level-ups, he noticed a shadow emerging in the distance. The sphere transformed into another doppelganger, mirroring his form. However, this one exuded a distinct aura, different from the previous adversaries. The air around it seemed to shimmer with an unfamiliar energy, catching Rain's attention.

As the doppelganger stood still, a strange tension filled the air, leaving Rain curious about the unique abilities this one might possess. Despite the lingering discomfort from the anger, Rain braced himself for the upcoming encounter.

Just like the other, the beast's body suddenly began to bulge, and its aura changed… it used Limit Breaker even though Rain had recovered the technique.

"Even if their main ability is to steal skills, their leader should have more than a few tricks up their sleeve…" Rain thought. "Well, there is only one thing that I can do in this situation."

When the monster finished activating the buff, it watched Rain again and began to grin, but that only lasted for a moment. Rain raised his eyebrow, and then the beast suddenly exploded in the air, and its numerous parts froze before falling on the ground…
