Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 1243 - 1243: Nervous control

Telekinesis was truly useful. Rain now could use the ominous sword with a single thought. After the demon king was split in two, Rain smashed the parasite and then pulled all of the blood of the monster and turned it into a single red core. He could feel the power inside of the core, but the demon king was certainly killed.

"I will deal with you later," Rain said and then stored away the demon king and went to check Seadrei, who was still unconscious.

"He is fine, but you didn't hold back attacking him, and using dioxide carbon against him had been pretty nasty as well," Elisabetha said.

"Not my problem," Rain said once he confirmed Seadrei's condition.

After that, Rain went to check his hands, and they were still a mess… When he tried to heal them, he confirmed that the process was taking a long time. Rain didn't know if it was due to the power of the spear, corruption, or anything, but it was just like that.

Rain, despite the urgency in healing his hands, worked methodically. The urgency had waned since the energy in the cave began to disperse. His golems, which were a direct source of experience points for him, had stopped doing that. It was a clear indication that the battle was essentially over, and the demons stopped working or just vanished or something.

Rain took the time to focus on treating his wounded hands. The recovery process seemed unusually slow, and whether it was due to the potency of the shadow spear, corruption, or other unknown factors, Rain couldn't tell. Nevertheless, he was not in a hurry.

The remnants of the intense battle lingered in the air, but the threat had been exterminated. With Seadrei unconscious and the demon king defeated Rain could afford to tend to relax a bit.

"Congratulations, it seems that you did it again," Arel said. "Your friends are coming, but they will have a hard time finding you."

"It is fine, no worries," Rain said and then sat on the ground. "This is going to kill me sooner than later."

While he was waiting, Rain fixed his skills and parameters… the wrath path had reached a level too high even in that short battle. At the same time, Rain analyzed the battle… it seemed that the enemies who had a strong affinity with a sin suffered a lot of damage from the virtue that opposes it. However, soon Rain realized that the inverse was also true… hence, his hands were so messed up.

"It is weird that the gratitude path targets the mana of the target… but it seems that is the first effect. The second effect is to decrease their willpower and their defenses according to their mana pool," Rain rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Maybe it won't have the same effects against those that don't have so much corrupt power."

While Rain was thinking about that, Seadrei began to groan and then eventually woke up. He kept groaning for a while as he touched his face as well. Rain punched him a bunch of times there, so it made sense.

"Ugh… you should have been a bit more gentle with your father-in-law," Seadrei said. "While I messed up, I didn't deserve to be punched so many times."

"So, you remember the fight?" Rain asked. "I guess he was truly a parasite that controlled your body only instead of forcing you to sleep forever. You will survive, and this will be a good lesson for you. Anyway, we have some time. How about explaining your recent actions and words as well, before you were defeated, I mean."

"I can't say it… it isn't my place to say it," Seadrei said and then sighed. "You will have to learn by yourself because I don't want to work behind anyone's backs."

"You are terrible at speaking nothing. You know that?" Rain asked and then sighed.

Before Rain could press Seadrei for answers, the others arrived, and they looked fine as well… a lot better than Seadrei, who had been punched senseless by Rain. Everyone connected the dots at the wounds in Rain's fists and the ones in Seadrei's face, so he had some explaining to do.

"What did you guys learn?" Rain asked.

"After entering the caves, we realized that the demon king used the blood of his enemies to make this place attract a lot of the bacteria," Sakaki said. "It also seems that the blood increased the levels of magic in the territory. With just a bit of organic matter, he could create demons from the blood in the walls. He also could repair them like that and save time."

"Blood, huh?" Rain thought. "Makes sense.

It was obvious. The brain communicates with the rest of the body through a complex network of nerves and blood vessels. The nervous system, consisting of the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system, plays a crucial role in transmitting signals within the body.

The basic functional unit of the nervous system is the neuron. Neurons transmit electrical signals, known as action potentials, along their axons. The demon king could control that.
