Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 1229 - 1229: Make up your mind

Activating his domain and the water mirror technique, Rain began to regulate the temperature within. Simultaneously, he emitted his mana infused with the Sloth path. Almost immediately, he sensed the subtle changes within the confined space. The air grew stale, and a sluggish feeling enveloped him, accompanied by a noticeable decrease in his body temperature.

"I don't feel so good…" Rain said, and then he was teleported.

Rain couldn't complain since he was the one who decided that kind of plan, but Arel should have waited a couple of seconds before sending him. Regardless, after crossing the red tunnel, Rain arrived on the back of the enemies base and soon found the same scene that Sealyn, Terra and the others saw… the fortress was basically a city with massive walls, one hundred meters tall with automatic turrets.

The turrets moved from one side to the other, so it seemed that they didn't sense Rain. In the next moment, he used all of his willpower to use Impulse just once, and soon he landed at the wall of the place… it was amazing; he truly felt sick; he didn't have the motivation to do anything… but at least the turrets didn't sense him.

"I guess the plan is working… The sloth mana is making the water and the domain not stand out at all… it is too bothersome to explain…" Rain thought and then sighed.

The intricacies of the paths became even more apparent as one delved into the effects of the Sloth path on water magic. Since Diligence was the inverse of Sloth, its impact on the water and magical environment was the inverse as well. Rather than activating and energizing, Sloth's influence made the water and the magical essence as stale and inconspicuous as possible, as if they were nonexistent.

As Rain manipulated the water and emitted mana under the influence of the Sloth path, the elements took on an eerie stillness, barely registering on any sensory scale. Even the bacteria in the air, upon contact with the manipulated environment, slowed down tremendously, their movements almost imperceptible.

The strategy to use Sloth in conjunction with water magic and the domain was proving effective in concealing Rain's presence. The combination of paths created an environment that went unnoticed by the automated defenses of the enemy fortress.

When Rain looked beyond the wall, he saw a metallic city, just like the one in the mana cannon, a bunch of buildings of the same shape and size. Nothing a single one stood out, so he wondered if the person there had some connection with the design of the base that they invaded months ago.

"How can I find the target like this?" Rain thought.

There was not a single place standing out, so that made his job many times harder… Rain used Magic Eyes, but that didn't help either. Still, he couldn't just wait and look for clues slowly while the others were fighting… things would be chaotic if the demons joined the fight, after all.

"Keep jumping from one building to the other. I am not an expert on it, but I should be able to find the target through their mental state," Elisabetha said.

"All right," Rain said, and then he used Impulse once more.

Although Rain could use his earth magic to obtain a similar effect, it would be more difficult since the whole place was made of metal. Moreover, he would have to use a lot of mana beyond his domain and, thus, reveal his position. For things to end as soon as possible, he would need to attack the enemy from behind with all his might, so he couldn't afford that.

Despite the effects of Sloth on his body, Rain jumped around as fast as he could. Still, there were thousands of those buildings, so it would take a while before he could make any progress.

Level 5: Sloth Field - Channel your overwhelming lethargy to manipulate the environment, rendering it nearly imperceptible. The Sloth Field skill allows the user to dampen the activity of surrounding elements, making them appear stagnant and unremarkable. Cost: 100 mana per second.

Rain felt like facepalming… the skill that he got was the same that he was using to remain hidden. He couldn't complain since he was determined to reset the sin path whenever possible, but even so… that was tough to bear.

"They are right below us," Elisabetha said.

Rain was surprised to hear that… just on his first round around the enemy base, and just when he stopped in the middle of it, it looked like they found their target. The building that they stopped in seemed rather normal, so Rain couldn't help but be a bit confused…

"They are quite deep, so you will have to cause some damage to reach them," Elisabetha said.

Rain furrowed his eyebrows upon hearing Elisabetha's words. The fact that the enemy's base had an underground section added a layer of annoyance to the mission. Underground structures meant potential escape routes for the enemy, and Rain couldn't afford to let them slip away. However, the challenge was in the difficulty of maintaining his hidden state while reaching the underground hideout.

Even if there were no escape routes, the situation would make it challenging for Rain to conceal his presence further. Stealth was crucial for this mission, and the underground environment posed a significant threat to that element of surprise. Despite the setback, Rain knew he had to adapt quickly to the changing circumstances if they were to succeed in their mission.

"Well, I might as well go all out and try to reach them with this attack and kill them as well," Rain said and then grabbed the ominous sword. "I will be counting on you, Elisabetha. Try to make good use of your rage."

"You should try to make your damn mind about my rage," Elisabetha said.
