Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix
Chapter 1193 - 1193: Cursed bard path

The king in the shadows, after recovering from Rain's invisible blow, found himself completely astonished. The sudden attack had caught him off guard, leaving him bewildered as to what had hit him. Very wary now, he raised his guard and summoned two short swords made of shadows, preparing to face Rain's next move.

However, before the king could fully brace himself, Rain attacked again. Another unknown blue hit the middle of the king's face with force. The impact was enough to break the king's nose, and for a moment, his vision blurred. Yet, he managed to keep his stance and didn't fall.

When the king opened his eyes, he was met with Rain's smirk, a subtle yet unmistakable sign that Rain had successfully landed a hit… that annoyed him… Rain's expression was even more annoying because he was trying hard not to let his focus wane, but the wild thoughts in his head made things difficult.

"Might as well use the wrath path if you are willing to go that far," Elisabetha said.

In the end, Rain calmed down after that… because the enemy suddenly began to move from one side to the other insanely fast… almost like he had become a shadow himself…

Rain didn't try to follow him with his eyes. He could sense the vibrations on the floor, after all. He also sensed when the enemy suddenly stopped behind him and changed his charge direction to Rain's back in order to get the ominous sword.

Still, the enemy was caught off guard when Rain swung his elbows and hit him with a blast of wind… to think that he could do even that with such an attack… the truth of the matter was the fact that Rain used a bit of magic since he never tried that before… and it worked since it made the enemy confused.

"All right… this isn't going to work," Rain thought when he noticed his mana decreasing insanely fast. "Still, this gives me an idea… time to use only the snake's path."

The aura around Rain changed and became weaker, but more stable, and the enemy realized that and thought of using it to his advantage… still, when he thought of moving, Rain suddenly disappeared, and then several after images of him began to appear.

While the enemy was looking for the real one, he suddenly was hit on his arm… that made him stagger, but the damage was minimal. The king in the shadows wondered if Rain was having a hard time thanks for the damage suffered, but someone who was in a critical situation wouldn't be moving that fast…

Before long, the enemy was hit by the same level of attack several times, and that only added to his confusion… he couldn't tell which one was real either. It didn't take long for the enemy to realize that something was wrong… eventually, he began to connect the dots of Rain's plans.

Everything started when he suddenly saw some sweat falling from his eyes, and then he realized that his breathing was haggard… the fight hadn't lasted for that long, so how come he was that tired already? The only explanation was Rain… he was the cause of that.

The enemy began to move around like a shadow again and then began to attack the afterimages, but after that point in time, the damage was done… The afterimages kept appearing back in their places, and the enemy kept using his stamina until he began to slow down… his reserves of mana were massive, but not his stamina.

Rain's plan worked more than he had expected… he didn't think that the enemy would have so little stamina considering the physical attacks he launched on him… he probably enhanced his strength with shadow magic somehow.

Regardless, Rain just used the Counterflow technique alongside the long-ranged physical attacks that he learned from Seara… and that was the result.

When the enemy realized that he was in dire straits, he decided to go all out and then summoned some shadow golems to buy some time.

"Are you getting nervous?" Rain said while using sound magic and making his voice come from all directions. "I guess you aren't thinking correctly since you are tired… I told you I am not going to kill you today."

Rain's attacks kept hitting the king in the shadows… even though he used the shadow golems like a wall around him. Still, there is nothing bad that couldn't become worse… Rain suddenly had an idea and then put it into action.

In the midst of the chaotic battle, Rain's voice shifted, resonating with an eerie and ominous melody. It was a song that seemed to echo from the depths of a tragedy play, each note carrying a weight of sorrow and despair. The lyrics, though incomprehensible, conveyed a sense of loss and anguish.

As the ominous tune filled the air, the king in the shadows felt an inexplicable sensation, as if countless needles were piercing through his body. The agony intensified over every second, and his exhaustion seemed to grow exponentially. The unnerving melody weaved its way into the very fabric of his being, amplifying the weariness that already burdened him.

The king's movements became sluggish, and his attempts to summon more shadow golems were stopped. Rain, still singing the haunting song, continued his assault, taking advantage of the disorientation that the melody inflicted. The king struggled against the unseen force, unable to comprehend the source of his torment.

"Estuans interius, Ira vehementi, Estuans interius, Ira vehementi!" Rain sung while getting even more excited.
