Chapter 95: The distance between the two people is three centimeters
"Queen..."
"Anna, it’s getting late."
"Ah, right, without realizing it, I’ve already chatted with you for over an hour, Queen. Then I shall not disturb your rest."
Even for Anna, it’s rare to have the opportunity to chat alone and at leisure with Morgan. She was so engrossed that she didn’t notice the time until Morgan reminded her. Realizing that it was nearly Morgan’s resting time, she hurriedly stood up, moving her chair back to its original place while bidding farewell.
Stepping outside the room, the night breeze prompted Anna to instinctively exhale. She reminisced about the conversation with Morgan, feeling that something about the Queen’s demeanor was a bit off compared to usual. However, she couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was strange.
It must be just my imagination, right?
Anna thought to herself that it was probably because of Le Cheng’s matter. After all, the arrival of the Divine Envoy would inevitably have a huge impact on the Empire, and the Queen, bearing the weight of the entire Empire, would naturally need to consider more matters, resulting in a different demeanor from usual.
With this thought, Anna felt relieved.
Not until she could no longer sense Anna’s presence and was sure that the other party had left did Morgan finally fully exhale in relief.
For the entire hour, she had to avoid any slip-up that Anna might detect and also suppress her own body’s instinctual desires, keeping her nerves on edge the entire time. Only now, as she relaxed completely, did Morgan slump into her chair and realize that her body had long become limp and numb, hardly able to muster any strength.
This feeling is truly awful.
Morgan sat motionless in her chair, taking several deep breaths. Once her body began to recover somewhat, she said in a cold voice, "You can come out now."
"Eh, already?" Le Cheng poked his head out from under the desk, wearing a reluctant expression.
This guy... where does he think he’s coming out from?!
Looking at Le Cheng’s head so close at hand, Morgan drew a sharp breath and stood up reflexively. Her voluminous and fluffy skirt swept over the top of Le Cheng’s head, covering it for a moment as he looked up, seeing a fleeting shadow of black.
"Ouch." Le Cheng swore that he hadn’t intended to peek; it was just an accident.
Morgan’s complexion changed, realizing the inadvertent glimpse she had exposed. Without being bothered by shame or anger, she immediately vanished from sight, reappearing on the other side after a few seconds.
"What is this ability? Instantaneous movement?" Le Cheng curiously looked at Morgan.
From Anna, he had long since found out that witches in this world mostly only awaken to one power. Occasionally, there are those with two, but they are as rare as phoenix feathers and unicorn horns, while Morgan is a unique four-power wielder.
If you count prophecy and the invisible force that subdued him during the day, Morgan has used at least three powers.
What ability?
Morgan was in no mood to discuss her powers with Le Cheng. She glared at him contemptuously and said, "As the esteemed Divine Envoy, the future Pope, to do such things to a married woman, don’t you feel any shame?"
"Queen, don’t turn this around on me; it was you who told me to hide."
"I didn’t tell you to hide under the desk!"
Le Cheng spread his hands, "But as you saw, it was sudden when you asked me to hide. I had no time to think and could only find the nearest place to hide. And as it turns out, my choice was correct. Had I hesitated for a few more seconds, Anna would undoubtedly have discovered me."
Morgan narrowed her eyes slightly. Although she felt Le Cheng was probably lying, the claim itself wasn’t wrong. After all, in a moment of urgency, it’s often impossible to think clearly and accurately. Just like just now, she actually had a better way to handle the situation, but she didn’t have the time to think it through, leading to the accidental reveal.
"Hmph," she snorted coldly, "Then, those things you did to my legs under the desk... how do you explain that?"
She wanted to hear how Le Cheng would wriggle his way out of this one.
Hiding under the desk could be explained as a spur-of-the-moment act. Catching a glimpse of Morgan’s underwear might be called an accident. But what he did under the desk, Le Cheng indeed couldn’t justify, and so he sighed, expressing solemnly, "It can only be said that... affection arises unknowingly, and deepens profoundly."
"?"
"After all, everyone possesses the love of beauty, and, Queen, you are so stunningly beautiful and charming. I believe no man could resist being moved by you after seeing you. Although I am a Divine Envoy, I am but a mortal man. To covet your body is only natural, isn’t it?"
"Besides, in the end, it’s your fault."
"Blame me?" Morgan widened her eyes. Was this some new twist on the logic of the villain playing the victim?
"Yes, indeed. Initially, I had no improper thoughts about you, but then you showed me the future in the Crystal Ball. Since such a thing will happen in the future, why not take the thrill to its limit? Hence, even if I am 99% at fault, don’t you bear 1% of the responsibility?"
Looking at Le Cheng’s earnest expression, Morgan was on the verge of laughing out of exasperation. What kind of robber’s logic was this!
If it were anyone else saying this... no, if it weren’t Le Cheng and was any other man in the world, upon seeing the future predicted in the Crystal Ball, Morgan would have slaughtered them without hesitation, not giving them a chance to speak.
