Chapter 79: 66 The Divine Envoy on the Ox’s Back
While there may be overlaps at times, divine powers are often in conflict with each other; for instance, Pure Beauty and Slaanesh, both deities equally governing the realm of beauty, can actualize the type of beauty they acknowledge into everyone’s heart. However, the former disperses carnal thoughts through beauty – beauty is merely a symbolic token, a force to be revered; whereas the latter uses beauty to further incite the passions and wildness of the heart, leading one to utterly fall into depravity amid the release of desire.
These two powers inherently oppose each other, and should they coexist within the same entity, that entity would inevitably become a battleground for their conflict.
The Blood Grinding Beast may not have been directly created by Khorne, yet it is driven by a belief in Khorne. Therefore, in their consciousness, apart from enjoying warfare and slaughter, there are no other desires – this is why the Blood Grinding Beast cannot be tamed, for its loyalty is solely to Khorne.
But belief is not unchangeable.
Just as some humans in this world, facing the slaughter by the Catastrophe Legion, have witnessed that tremendous power and felt their own insignificance and helplessness; under the weight of despair, they initially forsake their primordial beliefs, deeming Khorne the exalted deity, becoming converts... As long as external pressure is sufficient, belief can be changed.
And for a deputy, not only do they bask in the divinity granted by gods, but also spreading the faith of the deities is their duty.
Hence, when Le Cheng applied the Deputy Mark to the Blood Grinding Beast, the governing power of Khorne within the beast’s consciousness was bound to confront the power of Gaia.
Of course, Gaia’s power is not guaranteed to be stronger than that of Khorne, especially when dispersed through a deputy. If it were a common deputy, purifying that deep-rooted faith would be nearly impossible, but Le Cheng, he is the sole deputy of Gaia.
As the dominating power of Khorne within the consciousness of the Blood Grinding Beast was gradually dispersed and purified by Gaia’s power, the bloodthirsty impulses of slaughter began to fade, replaced by its intrinsic animal instincts as a wild beast. It remains ferocious, it remains brutal, but slaughter is no longer its only pursuit.
"Bull, submit to me!"
Le Cheng stood once more before the Blood Grinding Beast. The latter exhaled steam through its nostrils, its ferocious eyes fastened on Le Cheng unblinkingly, and its pairs of hooves occasionally digging pits as if on the verge of an attack, yet it hesitated to charge because it sensed a familiar aura on Le Cheng.
This aura stemmed from Gaia.
Khorne’s power may have been driven out, but Gaia’s power lingered in the consciousness of the Blood Grinding Beast, slowly moderating its temperament. And Le Cheng, as Gaia’s deputy, shared the same origin of strength. The Blood Grinding Beast couldn’t comprehend this, but the familiar aura misled it into treating Le Cheng as its own kind.
Kin, male, powerful, exceedingly charming...
As a female Blood Grinding Beast, the innate attraction to the opposite sex gradually became dominant. Following that instinct, it moved closer to Le Cheng step by step. With every step nearer to Le Cheng, the expression in its eyes grew gentler, until finally, it crouched down on all fours before Le Cheng and mooed twice at him.
Le Cheng patted its head, then straddled its back.
"Good, from today onwards you will no longer be called a Blood Grinding Beast, instead, you shall be... Fiery Red Bull."
"Moo—"
The Fiery Red Bull raised its head and bellowed exultantly, then kicked up its hooves and ran off joyfully.
For this Blood Grinding Beast, kin, male, powerful, and charm – these four elements were indispensable. If it weren’t kin, it would instantly attack Le Cheng as these were the primal instincts of such a ferocious beast, even without the dominating power of Khorne. This creature, created for war, was highly aggressive. Even if faced with a male of its species but lacking in strength, it would kick it away without a second thought; a weakling pulling a hefty cart? Unthinkable.
But a strong male kin, coupled with that unique charm, deeply enticed the Blood Grinding Beast, allowing it to relish the thrill of being dominated by the opposite sex.
Thus, at this moment, the true Bull Knight was born.
"He really tamed it?"
"How is this possible!"
"Am I dreaming?"
"Oh my god, this must be a miracle!"
"Finally... Has the God of Order finally come to this world?"
Seeing Le Cheng sitting on the back of the Blood Grinding Beast, everyone was shocked, not only the players but even the civilians nearby cried out in amazement. They could hardly believe what was before their eyes, and some even knelt down on the spot to pray to the God of Order.
Taming the Blood Grinding Beast, to the players, might just mean that Le Cheng had special beast taming skills, but to the people of this world, it had a totally different significance.
Because the Blood Grinding Beast is not an ordinary creature; it belongs to the Catastrophe Legion, a part of the Catastrophe.
Catastrophe is untamable, unconquerable. People can only resist with all their might in the wake of its ravaging, barely managing to find that sliver of a chance to survive.
For over two hundred years, this has almost become a consensus in this world. Even during the peak of the Emperor Sigma’s power, one could only repel the Catastrophe Legion but never completely eradicate it.
Catastrophe comes from another world, and the only force capable of confronting it is the God of Order, in opposition to the Chaos Evil God. This is the most important clue obtained from the Catastrophe Legion during the two hundred years of continuous war. The Empire and civilians even spontaneously built one divine hall of Order after another, hoping that one day, the gaze of the God of Order might finally fall upon this distant world and put a complete end to the ravaging of the Catastrophe Legion.
However, for two hundred years, this world has never been able to receive the favor of the God of Order.
But today, just when people had almost lost all hope... a miracle happened!
A person who could tame the Catastrophe Beast might have taken just a small step for Le Cheng, but it’s a giant leap for this world.
"Divine Envoy!"
"Divine Envoy!"
"Great Divine Envoy, you have finally arrived!"
As more and more voices joined in unison, the civilians came running down in droves, some of the older ones moved to tears. They could have never imagined that in their lifetimes, they would witness the arrival of an Order Divine Envoy.
Since the Order Divine Envoy has descended, doesn’t that mean there’s finally hope for this world?
In just a short while, almost all the civilians were kneeling and praying towards Le Cheng on the back of the bull.
What the what?
What is this?
Le Cheng was totally confused. I just tamed a Bull and got myself a mount, why are you all suddenly kneeling to me?
