Chapter 101: 81 Lancelot... kiss?!
"Mr. Le Cheng, you’re back."
"How come it’s just you here? Where’s Caster?"
After parting ways with Morgan, Le Cheng didn’t immediately return to the Abyss Moon Court, but instead went straight to the area outside the Royal Court to specifically admire the humanistic scenery of the Imperial Capital. Indeed, as he had expected, the people of the Imperial Capital were exceptionally worried about the demise of Emperor Sigma. It can’t be said for sure they were mourning for the country and its people, but at the very least, they all had furrowed brows and looked distressed.
Seeing their unhappy faces, Le Cheng felt relieved.
So, after having lunch, he returned to the Abyss Moon Court. As he opened the door to his room, he found only Guinevere inside, seriously reading a book.
Guinevere put down her book and poured Le Cheng a cup of tea, then she said, "Caster has gone to exchange martial arts techniques with the other Princes."
"Exchange martial arts?"
"Yes," Guinevere nodded and explained, "Last evening, after we were brought back by the Catastrophe Messenger, Caster felt particularly guilty and said that it was all because of his own affairs that you got into such trouble. Even though he himself doesn’t care much about whether or not he can become the Emperor, saying participation is what matters, yet you treated his affairs as your own, even going so far as to plead with Queen Morgan on his behalf. So, he decided he must work hard to not disappoint your expectations of him."
"Is that so..."
Le Cheng shook his head speechlessly. Could he not be concerned about Caster’s affairs? It was all about a big reward, after all. He didn’t expect his earnest behavior to touch Caster so deeply. Such an honest child.
If a boy is too honest, he might end up wearing a green hat.
What? Caster is a girl?
Oh, then nevermind.
But this is good; Le Cheng had always felt that Caster’s character was too mild. It was an unexpected pleasure to be able to arouse his fighting spirit.
"By the way, Mr. Le Cheng, you didn’t come back last night. You didn’t stay over at Queen Morgan’s, did you?" Suddenly, Guinevere looked at him with a gossipy expression.
Le Cheng pinched her cheek with a smile, "Why, are you very concerned about that?"
"It’s not that I’m concerned, just a little curious."
"Right, I did stay over at the Queen’s place last night, and I even shared a bed with her. But you mustn’t tell anyone about this, okay?"
"Bragging!" Guinevere was stunned at first, then scoffed in disdain. If Le Cheng had been elusive about it, she might have really had her suspicions, but the moment Le Cheng told the truth, she didn’t believe it anymore, "Do you think Queen Morgan is just anyone, that she would be so casually deceived by you?"
"Hey, how did I deceive her? The way you put it, it’s like I’m such a player," Le Cheng retorted in dissatisfaction.
"Are you not?" Guinevere gave him a look and whispered lower, "A real gentleman wouldn’t forcibly grab two girls he just met that day and push them towards a bed, that’s a player right there!"
"According to what you’re saying, I certainly can’t count as a real gentleman then. But your definition of a player is too broad, I’d say. Besides, I haven’t done anything to you guys."
"You just haven’t had the opportunity yet. To be honest, with the way you’ve been zealously helping Caster, are you interested in him?"
Le Cheng retorted: "Aren’t you also very concerned? Do you have a crush on him?"
"I’m different," Guinevere shook her head, "I’m different. Caster and I grew up together, and he even saved my life, so it’s only natural for me to support him, but more importantly, I believe Caster will help me take my revenge."
"Revenge?"
"Ah!" Realizing she had let something slip, Guinevere instinctively covered her mouth. But seeing Le Cheng’s curious expression, she sighed and decided to come clean. "Forget it, it’s not a secret anyway. My father was a lord in the North. A few years ago, his domain was invaded by the Catastrophe Legion... It’s not an uncommon occurrence, it happens every few years, but that time the scale was particularly large. Despite promptly requesting aid from the Empire, my father was killed before help could arrive..."
"People?"
"Yes, the one who killed my father wasn’t the Catastrophe Legion, but one of his most trusted subordinates. As it turned out, that guy had long since defected to the Catastrophe Legion, becoming a convert. How my father trusted him!"
Guinevere clenched her fists in hatred, "It was also because of him that the call for help was delayed. Before the Empire’s reinforcements could arrive, my father’s domain had fallen. Only my mother and I managed to escape with the protection of our guards, but we were pursued on the road. In the end, only I survived."
"From that moment, I vowed that as long as I live, whether it’s the Catastrophe Legion or those despicable traitor converts, I will kill them all, without exception!"
Le Cheng felt a sudden stir in his heart. "No wonder you want to become a witch so badly."
"Yes, if I could become a witch, then I could have the power to do this myself. But unfortunately, I’ll be seventeen in a few months, and I’ll never have the chance to awaken as a witch in this lifetime. So I can only pin my hopes on Caster. He knows about this."
Le Cheng glanced at the book she had placed on the table, "Imperial Court Etiquette... So that’s why you’re reading this stuff?"
"Right." Guinevere’s indignation came and went quickly, and she laughed, "Since I’ve decided to become Caster’s queen, naturally I need to learn about this knowledge—to maintain elegant and noble etiquette like Queen Morgan, so as not to lose face."
Elegant and noble, huh...
Le Cheng mused to himself, Queen Morgan is anything but elegant and noble in bed, rather quite the opposite—wild.
"Speaking of elegance..." Guinevere’s eyes suddenly lit up, "Do you know Lancelot?"
"Of course, the first knight of the Emperor’s Forbidden Army, and also the strongest knight in the history of the Empire, known as the invincible one. Of course, I’ve heard of him. What about it?"
"I saw Lancelot this morning!" Guinevere said with excitement surging through her, "It seems Queen Morgan had something important to announce, and summoned many people. Lancelot happened to be among them. That man... how should I put it? He’s just so handsome! With his silver hair, blue armor, and that cool look, so noble, so elegant. Ah, Sir Lancelot~~~"
Guinevere held her cheeks with both hands, her expression dreamy like a smitten teenager.
Damn!
Le Cheng couldn’t help but spit out, You woman, you haven’t even married Caster and become the queen yet, and you’re already planning to cheat?
And here I am, a handsome guy standing right in front of you, and you’re still obsessed with Lancelot. Are you blind?
"Is Lancelot really that handsome?"
"Of course, Lancelot him—her... she’s just like a knight-princess from a fairy tale. I so wish to be like her."
"Wait... Her? Princess?"
