Chapter 38 - 38 38 Narada Muni She Doesn't Believe
38: Chapter 38: Narada Muni, She Doesn’t Believe 38: Chapter 38: Narada Muni, She Doesn’t Believe Earth, Asura Temple.
The temple was dim, with massive columns standing tall.
The crude marks of axe cuts showcased the ancient architectural style of the pillars.
Around the temple, flames were lit, casting an array of faces, some bright, some dark.
Many Asura Generals gathered here.
They varied in height and build, some tall, some short, some fat, some lean, yet all exuded a ferocious and ominous aura.
“Report, General Vajra Body has begun his ascetic practices and cannot come!”
Suddenly, an Asura Soldier came to report.
Upon hearing this, Brahman’s expression remained calm, as he covertly glanced towards the deep recesses of the temple.
In the gloomy temple stood a raised platform, empty except for a dark throne that seemed to glow in Brahman’s eyes.
That was Jinmu’s former seat.
“Since Vajra Body is in ascetic practice, there’s no need to wait for him.
Let’s discuss the matters concerning Earth and what comes next.”
“A nation cannot be without a ruler for a day, Earth cannot lose its master, and the Asuras need a King.”
“Now is the time to discuss who shall be King!”
Brahman raised his finger, his gaze sweeping over the many Asura Generals present.
Vibhrajit, Sinhika, Durgama, and Namuchi, along with many other Asura Generals, all stood within the Asura Temple, their faces tense.
Having served under Jinmu, now that Jinmu was dead, they felt somewhat lost.
“What about our mentor?”
Sinhika suddenly spoke up.
Sukhacara Sage was the mentor of the Asuras, and during the crucial decision of choosing the new King of Asura, Sukhacara Sage had to be present no matter what.
At these words, Brahman feigned a look of sorrow and sighed.
“Ah!”
“After being driven away by Jinmu, the mentor vanished to parts unknown, and I have not found him.
But we can’t leave the King of Asura’s position empty, so we few must make the choice.”
Brahman said.
Before him were several ruling Asura Generals, all with formidable strength and numerous followers.
But Brahman believed defeating them was not too difficult.
He could not best Jinmu, Jīnchuáng, or Vajra Body, but with his Maya Illusion Power, it was possible to confront these few generals.
As for Jinmu’s sons.
Jinmu’s second son, Garanemi, was quite ordinary.
With average martial prowess, he was not worth mentioning.
As for Jinmu’s eldest son, it was a joke.
He was an infant picked up by Jinmu from the wilderness, and it was pure luck that Jinmu took him as his stepson, named Antaka.
What’s more ludicrous was that this stepson, Antaka, was blind!
What could a blind man do!
The seat of King of Asura would never fall to a blind man!
“Without our mentor, Jīnchuáng and Vajra Body in ascetic practice, perhaps we should wait a little longer!”
Vibhrajit suggested.
He was well aware of the formidable power of brothers Jinmu and Jīnchuáng.
Now, with Jīnchuáng still in ascetic practice, who knew what terrifying strength he might attain once it ended.
“There’s no time to wait!”
“Now that the Devas have obtained the Amrita, if they are dissatisfied with our war over the Milk Sea, they may lead the Heavenly Realm’s forces to attack us.
By then, it would be too late to choose!”
Brahman continued.
Durgama’s eyes glowed blue, and the golden patterns on his forehead flickered.
He waved his hand and with a cold snort said, “Since that’s the case, the rule of Earth is that the strongest reigns supreme.
Only the strongest can be the King of Asura.
Whoever wins among us will be King.”
“I agree!”
Namuchi spoke.
“Good!”
“Now it’s three against two, so be it!”
Brahman, wearing a slight smile, strode forward, gesturing with his hand as he was about to leave.
Boom!
Rumble!
At that moment, the entire Earth shook violently as if the ground itself had turned over, emitting a terrifying tremor.
At the edges of Earth, tectonic plates split open and crimson magma spewed forth, spreading scorching heat and sulfur fumes.
Countless rocks also fell from the temple, hitting the ground and shattering into innumerable particles.
Everyone in the temple swayed, unable to keep their feet steady, tossing left and right.
“The Power of Asceticism!”
“This power of asceticism that shoots straight into the sky, someone has attained asceticism perfection!”
Vibhrajit shook his body and looked outside the temple, where an invisible force was bursting forth, destroying everything it collided with.
“!!!”
Brahman’s face twitched.
He widened his eyes, bloodshot with vengeance, his expression complex with a mix of anger and unwillingness.
His hands clenched tightly, his sharp nails digging into his palms while a hoarse voice squeezed out two words from his throat.
“Jīnchuáng!!!”
…
Brahmaloka.
The sanctified light of cyan and white permeated the air, carrying the fragrant essence of lotuses.
The Goddess Saraswati sat cross-legged atop a lotus, her eyes smiling, cradling a vina and gently playing the beautiful music of heaven.
Today was yet another beautiful day!
Only, there was someone here who was quite the eyesore.
Brahma sat atop the lotus, his snow-white eyebrows slightly raised, eyes cast downward, landing on a plump, chuckling immortal below.
This immortal was chubby like Maitreya, donned in a bright orange robe, with a fragrant garland around his neck, and also holding a vina.
His plump face was always wearing a benign and cheerful smile, content and at ease.
The Immortal of Mischief!
The wandering sage—Narada!
“Praise to Lord Vishnu~”
Narada Muni said his mantra, first praising the Supreme Lord Vishnu he revered, then, while holding his vina, he opened his hands with a chuckle and said, “Father, the Devas of the Heavenly Realm have all returned, and Jinmu’s disaster has been averted.
May I leave now?”
Brahma’s expression remained unchanged.
“I know you come and go as you please in Brahmaloka, and this place cannot hold you back.”
“But you previously told Sukhacara about the matter of the Amrita, who then brought Jinmu to the Milk Sea.
That was really causing too much chaos.
I hope you can rest for a while.
If you can’t, I will be keeping an eye on you,” said Brahma.
[Narada] once bewitched [Daksha’s] thousand sons, making them all become ascetics and adopt a life of renunciation, leaving Daksha only with daughters.
A furious Daksha cursed Narada Muni to be forever without a home.
Narada Muni accepted the curse with a grin, quite happy with it.
He enjoyed his freedom, and this curse allowed him to travel almost anywhere, making him even happier.
It also made it more convenient for him to cause mischief.
He could freely roam the Three Realms.
“It’s all because of Sage Sukhacara.
I didn’t tell him to pass this matter to the Asuras.”
Narada Muni tilted his head, his voice soft as he chuckled and spread his hands.
Hmph~
Brahma couldn’t help but roll his eyes.
At that moment, as waves of praises echoed throughout Brahmaloka, and the sacred aura reverberated there, causing waves of celestial energy to ripple.
“Praise to Lord Brahma~”
“Praise to Lord Brahma~”
…
“A devotee has perfected asceticism!”
Amidst these waves of praise, Brahma’s face gradually relaxed into contentment, and joy arose in his heart.
He smiled and emitted golden light, vanishing into Brahmaloka.
Whoosh!
Seeing this, Narada Muni’s eyes lit up, and he clasped his hands together, exclaiming excitedly.
“Praise to Lord Vishnu~”
He then turned around, intending to quietly leave.
“Narada~”
“Did your husband ask you to stay here?”
The melodious voice of Goddess Saraswati rose from behind Narada Muni.
“I’m just going out for a walk!”
Narada Muni turned his head, shrugged his shoulders with a sheepish smile, and said.
Goddess Saraswati smiled silently.
She didn’t believe it!
Narada Muni put his palms together, his face squeezing out a smile, looking at Goddess Saraswati with pleading eyes.
“Mother, please, you’re my dear sister after all!”
