Shock!
Shock!
Shock!
Shock!
Surya looked bewildered, Rahu’s heart raced in panic, Soma’s mouth agape in astonishment, Yamini at a loss, Yama furrowed his brows in shocked suspicion.
Indra’s expression tightened.
Inside the temple, all the gods were frozen in place, their faces a mix of complex emotions.
Their gazes crisscrossed the temple, sparking flames as they collided, suddenly filling the space with an eerie atmosphere.
Indra’s eyes narrowed sharply.
He had been staying in front of the temple the whole time, preparing to watch for any Asuras trying to sneak in, when suddenly, he saw Yamini hesitating and wandering outside the temple.
The magnanimous Heavenly Emperor naturally didn’t wish to see the goddess hesitate, so he stepped forward to comfort her.
But who would have known that when he returned, he would see another goddess who looked exactly the same.
Whoosh!
Indra’s gaze instantly fell behind Soma, intently landing on the pot of Amrita.
The other gods’ gazes also fell on the pot of Amrita.
They all realized something was amiss—one of them was fake.
The goddess was not important; the Amrita was most important!
Soma instinctively turned around to embrace the pot of Amrita.
“Amrita!”
Indra also leapt into action, moving as fast as flashing lightning, rushing towards the pot of Amrita.
Rahu didn’t bother to hide anymore either.
As long as he drank the Amrita, he would obtain an undying body.
He burst forth with wild fervor, his body instantly swelling, his Maya Illusion Power shattered, revealing his true form—the body of an Asura with four arms and a serpent’s tail.
He dragged Sun God Surya with one hand, pushed Soma aside with another, and grabbed the pot of Amrita with a third hand.
By then, Indra had also charged in front of Rahu, lightning flickering in his hand.
Rahu held the pot of Amrita and tilted his head to drink.
At the same time, the last ghastly hand suddenly clenched into a fist and struck heavily at Indra’s chest.
The punch landed hard on the gold Sun God Armor.
Snap!
A soft, floppy sound rang out.
Meanwhile, Rahu finally drank the Amrita.
A refreshing and comfortable sensation instantly filled his head and began spreading downward.
“Ha ha ha!
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!”
“I have drunk the Amrita, the undying body, you all definitely cannot harm me, ha-ha-ha!”
Rahu laughed excitedly, overwhelmed with joy.
He couldn’t help but spread his four sturdy and powerful arms, wanting to show off his wisdom and strength.
Splatch!
As he moved his shoulders, a soft, flopping sound suddenly erupted.
Rahu: “???”
He looked down only to see that the arm he touched the Heavenly Emperor with had turned pitch black, shriveled, decayed, and like rotten mud, plopped onto the ground, turning into a heap.
A blue-green light also emerged from the arm, spreading rapidly and reaching his torso.
It spread to Rahu’s other limbs, up to his neck and other arms.
Eek~
Surya, with a look of terrified disdain, quickly shook off Rahu’s hand.
Soma also hurriedly turned and ran.
“Ah!
Ah!
Ah!
Ah!”
Rahu, with his head floating in midair, was terrified, screaming aloud.
Thump!
Thump!
Thump!
In just a short time, his other three arms had also decayed and fallen to the ground, turning to ash thereafter.
Clang!
The pot of Amrita fell from above, landing on Rahu’s large tail.
The Amrita spilled out!
The immortal power spread across the tail.
Helakela’s poison permeated Rahu’s body but finally, in front of Rahu’s head and at the root of his tail, the power of the Amrita suppressed it, stopping its spread.
Indra quickly retracted.
He grabbed the pot of Amrita, secured it in his arms, and then peacefully turned to look at Rahu.
Rahu was left with only a head and tail; his head in midair wailed in pain, and his long tail bounced up and down in the temple, creating total chaos.
At this moment, the eyes of the gods were not on Rahu but were instead filled with horror as they looked at Indra.
“This is not my doing; he struck himself!”
Indra spread his hands and said.
There is no other way!
This is the poison of the world—Helakela!
Swish!
With a sweeping gesture, Indra collected the sublimated Helakela poison into the Divine Armor, and Rahu’s corrupted body, softened as if it were rotten mud, instantly dissipated into ashes and smoke.
He then extended his hand, and lightning transformed into ropes, crackling and whipping out, binding Rahu’s head and tail.
“What do we do now?”
“This Asura has consumed the Amrita; even if only the head and tail are left, he is still undying.”
Sun God Surya furrowed his brows, his gaze passing over Rahu’s head and tail.
Moon God Soma’s face was stiff, and quite somber.
He had actually felt a sense of desire for this Asura’s Maya transformed form just moments ago.
“He must be a spy sent by the Asuras of Earth!
Lock him up in the Heavenly Realm Prison and interrogate him thoroughly!”
Soma said with a look of disgust.
“That’s the way!” The Sun God thought, agreeing.
“Heavenly Emperor, what do you think?”
Indra did not speak.
He was contemplating whether or not to hand Rahu over to Vishnu.
Legend has it that Rahu was spotted by Sun God Surya and Moon God Soma while drinking the Amrita.
The two deities reported to Protector God Vishnu, and the Mysterious Wheel of Sight then severed Rahu’s neck.
But because Rahu’s head had consumed the Amrita, it did not die but split into two parts: the head becoming Rahu, and the body becoming Ketu, thus forming two of the Heavenly Realm’s Nine Luminaries.
Among the Nine Luminaries, the seven stars of the Sun, Moon, Gold, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth are accounted for, leaving Rahu and Ketu as the remaining two.
Now, Rahu’s situation was even more pitiable!
All that was left of his lower half was a tail!
“If we lock him up, it’s tough to say, especially if he starts to meditate and suffer in prison!”
“Better to give him to Teacher Bi!”
Indra thought to himself.
He didn’t fear Rahu becoming one of the Nine Luminaries Gods; after all, when that happened, he would be a subordinate of the Heavenly Emperor and easily controllable.
What he feared was Rahu achieving enlightenment and beginning to meditate and suffer in prison.
Indra certainly did not want to bury a landmine in his own lair.
With this in mind, just as Indra was about to speak, Yama from among the gods stepped forward.
“The Amrita was prepared by Lord Vishnu for us, and now that this Asura has consumed it, he possesses an undying body!”
“It would be best to entrust him to the Supreme Lord for judgment!”
Yama spoke out.
His words perfectly matched what Indra had in mind.
“It is only right!”
Indra’s mouth curved into a slight smile, well satisfied.
Following that, he put his palms together, and the other deities promptly joined in praising Protector God Vishnu.
Soma, inwardly displeased, nevertheless promptly joined in the praise.
“Praise Lord Vishnu!”
“Praise Lord Vishnu!”
…
Amid the many voices of praise, a golden light materialized in front of the deities, mirroring water and revealing the figure of Vishnu.
Vishnu was clad in gold, smiling, his fingertip’s Mysterious Wheel of Sight twirling in hand.
“My Lord, this Asura used the Maya Illusion Power to masquerade as a Deva, infiltrated the Heavenly Realm, and drank the Amrita.”
“How shall we deal with him?”
Indra asked in a measured tone.
Hearing this, Vishnu’s gaze shifted slightly, falling upon the tightly bound head and tail, wrapped up in ropes of lightning like a bound bale.
His upturned mouth corners could not help but smile even more.
Rahu, however, was on the verge of tears.
Such regret!
It was the first time he regretted having four arms—if he had had only three, instead of four, he would not have touched the poisonous armor, and he wouldn’t now be reduced to only a head and a tail.
It was then that Vishnu spoke.
“Rahu, since you have drunk the Amrita…”
