The manager inside recognized Su Pan’er and Qin Yi, his face full of surprise. He mentioned that not only in Yongzhou City but even in Shengjing, several establishments were owned by the Lui Family.

Su Pan’er took the opportunity and asked him to transfer her share in advance, to keep on hand just in case.

She also informed via the steward the people back in Changze County.

Now with sufficient money, they went to buy some fresh clothes along with some daily necessities, and then they hurried to the dock.

The merchant ship heading to Shengjing departs from Yongzhou Prefecture, passes through Xiangyang Prefecture, Shouchun Prefecture, Huainan Prefecture, then Yingtian Prefecture before finally arriving at Kaifeng Prefecture!

The journey would take one and a half months.

Upon boarding the ship, Su Pan’er and Qin Yi coincidentally met the manager of the merchants team with whom they had previously interacted. Upon unexpectedly seeing each other, both parties were pleasantly surprised.

"Shall we go in and have a good meal? You should know that this ship goes directly to Kaifeng, sailing north on the Grand Canal all the way to Shengjing. The ship only stops at major ports; we’ll be on this ship for quite a while. It could get tiring to eat dried meat and rations every day."

These words instantly made Su Pan’er’s eyes light up.

"You’re right, I had forgotten. We need to eat a lot of veggies, in case we get on the ship and our taste buds become bland."

The two shared a laugh as they entered the restaurant hand in hand.

They were completely oblivious to the street kid behind them, a dishevelled child with eyes brimming with hope, who was staring intently at their retreating figures. His thin body, wrapped in tattered clothes, was shivering in the cold wind.

Su Pan’er had a strange feeling and looked back.

There was only the back of a small beggar disappearing in the distance, nothing unusual.

Shaking her head, she felt perhaps she was just being overly suspicious!

Once inside, she ordered nearly ten hot dishes, her laughter more joyful than usual.

"We’ve been traveling non-stop for the last few days. I’ve been craving something hot. If we can’t finish all these dishes, we can take them to the ship. Even cold food like this is much better than dry rations."

Seeing Qin Yi’s eagerness to pack everything, Su Pan’er laughed!

"When did you start talking so much about food?"

She teased him, charming dimples appearing on her cheeks, "We’re only going to be on the road for a month or so. Besides, there will be stops along the way for restocking. Don’t worry, just eat!"

His laughter filled the room at her words!

"I’m just concerned about you and our precious baby girl. That’s why I started talking about food."

"Who says it’s definitely a girl? What if it turns out to be a boy?"

"As long as you’re the one giving birth, I’ll love them regardless if they’re a boy or girl."

He picked a chopstick full of green beans and placed them into her bowl, "It’s rare to find these beans these days. Eat up."

Su Pan’er was thrilled inside, but she still put on a tough face, "I’m worried that once the baby’s born, you won’t care about him anymore."

"Who says I wouldn’t care?"
