In Love With My Fierce Farming Wife!
Chapter 49: Strange! _1

Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Strange! _1

"So just because you say I can’t go in, I should listen?"

Su Pan’er’s mouth curved upwards as she looked at the increasingly dense forest around her.

Ignoring the vehement protests of that brat Qin Yi, she waltzed right into the mountain anyway.

Thinking of his pale face, hopping around frantically yet somehow still wholly incapable of hindering her, only made her mood cheerier!

She fondly touched the mixed grain flat pancake at her waist, made in a hasty hurry by Qin Yi. A kind of indescribable feeling welled up in her heart.

She took it out, took a quiet bite. The unique sweetness of the food quickly spread across her tastebuds.

Now, she had crossed over the swamp lands, entering the outer edges of Deicide Mountain.

She had collected a good many mushrooms and tree ear fungi in her basket backpack, along with a number of medicinal ingredients that filled half of her basket.

As she put a medicinal plant from a stone crevice into her basket, a slight noise on her right startled her. Her bulky body deftly moved, using a rock as cover, to peer in the direction of the sound.

As soon as she peeked her head out, she found herself staring into a pair of pitch-black eyes.

A boy, 16 or 17 years old, with deep eyes, clad in a linen short suit. A large bow was slung over his back, the quiver at his side contained several arrows and held a few pieces of game. He looked rather surprised when he met Su Pan’er’s gaze!

"Huh? Who’s there?"

Su Pan’er was startled and took her time standing up from her hiding spot, her grip on the firewood knife in her right hand tightening.

The boy surveyed the surrounding environment, eying her from head to toe with a mildly puzzled look.

"How come it’s a girl? Don’t go any further, there are a lot of wild boar traps ahead. Be careful, they could hurt you." He said in the husky voice characteristic of adolescent boys.

"So what if I am a girl?"

Su Pan’er remained calm, standing her ground and staring back at him.

"Nothing, but this place with its tall mountains and dense forests is not suitable for women like you! Go back early!" The boy frowned.

Su Pan’er crossed her arms.

"Oh? What kind of person should be allowed to come here then? Surely not a whipper-snapper like you?"

The boy’s mouth twitched, he stared at Su Pan’er with a look of annoyance before turning around and making his way towards the barely visible path on the other side of the mountain.

"Ungrateful brat, do as you please!"

Only when his silhouette disappeared around the bend did Su Pan’er withdraw her gaze and notice a well-disguised trap on the ground.

Looks like he was a huntsman!

Wasn’t it said that nobody could come and go freely from Deicide Mountain and live to tell the tale? Even though this was just the outskirts, it was still considered as part of Deicide Mountain range, wasn’t it?

Su Pan’er shook her head to clear it, no longer bothering herself with such thoughts, and veered left to continue her journey.

She had been on this mountain path the last time she was here, even caught a few rabbits. Today, she didn’t stop, choosing to venture further into the mountain range.

Not much further down the path, she noticed a significant crop of weeds under the dense forest ahead—amongst it, a young ginseng root caught her eye.

Hey!

"Well, isn’t this a stroke of luck!" This was the second ginseng root she had found so quickly!

With a spring in her step, she hurried over and began digging with her shovel.

Suddenly, a light breeze stirred next to her.

Almost instinctively, Su Pan’er rolled to the side and, from her prone position, swung her shovel...

Thwack!

A green whip shadow was hit and sent flying, landing on a large rock nearby where it continued to wriggle and twist.

"Oh, it’s just a little snake!"

Su Pan’er casually glanced and carefully dug out this ginseng plant. It was a wild mountain ginseng that had been growing for about twenty to thirty years, worth quite a bit of silver!

With a good mood, she continued on.

The deeper into the mountain she went, the denser the trees became, so much so that she could no longer see the sky above her head.

Because of its remote location, the medicinal plants here were age-old and dense. Su Pan’er’s basket backpack quickly filled up with various medicinal ingredients, as well as the herbs to heal Ke’er’s leg and Qin Yi’s illness. On top of that, she also caught six mountain chickens, four wild rabbits, and a foolish roe deer.

Thinking of the Nine Burning Bone Grass and Transformative Lilies she needed to strengthen her own muscles and bones and how she hadn’t come across them yet, she glanced back at the sun gradually setting in the west, gritting her teeth in determination.

You can’t catch a wolf without risking your child!

She organized the game on her body and decisively moved forward.

The Nine Burning Bone Grass usually grows on cliffs, and the Transformative Lilies grow in rarely visited pools. The growing conditions are harsh.

Subconsciously, she followed the stream deeper into the mountain.

Not long after she walked out, the trees in front of her suddenly became scarce. After moving about ten meters more, a light appeared in front of her! A pool appeared in Su Pan’er’s field of vision.

The mountains were green and the water was clear. A not-so-large waterfall fell from mid-air into the clear and transparent pool below.

The area around the pool was filled with numerous animal footprints. At this moment, it was evening, a setting sun shining in, and a beautiful seven-color rainbow rose in mid-air, as if a fairyland on earth. This kind of environment is where the Nine Burning Bone Grass loves to grow.

Su Pan’er quietly crawled in the grass, didn’t easily move forward, but instead waited with focused calmness.

After a short while, a herd of sheep slid down from the side of the mountain. Two larger sheep were leading the group and were slowly approaching the pool, cautiously stopping and turning their eyes as they inched closer to the pool.

Su Pan’er was attentively keeping an eye on her surroundings.

A sheep moved closer to the pool, took a small sip of water, and quickly retreated from the pool.

All around was calm and tranquil.

The sky was still blue, the water was still clear, the rainbow was still hanging on the mountainside. Everything remained the same.

Su Pan’er frowned slightly, her look becoming more serious.

Even though everything in front of her was so serene and peaceful, why did she feel an unexplainable sense of crisis?

Even now, this feeling still hadn’t lessened!

This sixth sense had saved her countless times in the past!

Only this once!

She had carefully examined everything around her and really couldn’t find any abnormalities. What was the problem?

The two sheep didn’t notice anything unusual and slowly walked a few steps to the pool. The surroundings were still as tranquil as before, and the two sheep gradually let their guard down, freely drinking water. The rest of the herd began to get restless and crowded around the pool, blocking it completely. They all drank and played around.

If she could just catch two of these sheep, she wouldn’t have to continue on this trip!

A hurried voice constantly emerged in her mind, causing Su Pan’er to sharply turn her head. There was nothing unusual behind her, so she lowered her head in irritation.

"Where is the problem?"

As her gaze fell, she suddenly widened her eyes in surprise.

"Damn!"

A chill ran from the soles of her feet to the top of her head, causing her scalp to explode!

Each hair on her head stood on end!

Her legs started trembling involuntarily, and the firewood knife in her hand almost flew out. The sweat the size of beans continuously rolled down her forehead!

However, she stood her ground forcefully and stayed put!
