Chapter 391: Chapter 390: Covert Visit (2) _1

He glanced back to see Su Pan’er’s head poking out from the private room and Qin Yi smacked his lips in disapproval.

"Hehe, this pig is too casual!"

Having said this, he turned around, sat back down in his chair, and began to slowly savour his cup of tea.

"I agree," Su Pan’er casually replied, before retracting back into the small compartment and starting to undress and wash.

It seemed like Qin Yi was jealous?

Jealous of a rascal pig? That’s hilarious!

But what breed is this damn pig?

Is it really a Bama pig?

She had always found her ability to communicate with the little Bama pig quite strange, and had taken Qin Yi’s words literally, thinking she could understand pig talk. She even tried to communicate with the pigs they kept at home, but her attempts ended up being like a chicken talking to a duck — completely nonsensical.

Still, she managed to communicate with this comical pig which was utterly bizarre!

It seemed that not all of what Qin Yi, this nerdy scholar, said should be believed.

From outside the small compartment, a thoughtful look flickered in Qin Yi’s eyes.

That pig is definitely not normal!

He tip-toed to the door and quietly opened it. Just as he thought, the little Bama pig was standing right there.

Seeing him open the door, the pig wagged its tiny tail at him and scampered into the room.

Its small pig eyes were whirling around in its socket, sniffing around near the door to the compartment. Perceiving the cutting gaze from Qin Yi, the pig finally dared not go any further, and backed away hesitantly.

It then hopped onto the nearby chair and scrutinized him.

A scornful laugh quickly flashed across its eyes.

Wait, a laugh?

Was he seeing things?

Qin Yi hurriedly rubbed his eyes and inspected the pig once more, only to see that it had closed its eyes and started to doze off.

Dared to laugh at him?

He raised an eyebrow, ready to take action...

"Qin Yi, can you hand me my clothes? I forgot to bring them in," Su Pan’er called out in annoyance, blaming it all on the damn pig!

If not for it, how would she have forgotten to bring her clothes in?

"Coming!"

This immediately lit up Qin Yi’s eyes!

But then, he remembered the presence of that lecherous pig in the room, and his mood soured!

After a forceful glare at the pig, he reluctantly got up to hand over the clothes.

The rascal pig squinted open its eyes, wagged its tail smugly, and promptly continued its nap, belly-up.

Almost the moment it closed its eyes, Qin Yi whipped around to glower at the damn pig. He would need to find a chance to chase it away!

Yet the pig didn’t care the slightest about Qin Yi’s silent resentment.

Just you wait!

Trying to steal my girl from me?

You’ve got a long way to go, kiddo!

After taking a shower and feeling much more relaxed, Su Pan’er had dinner again with Qin Yi.

The rascal pig created chaos once more.

One roasted duck, plus two pig ears and several plates of fried vegetables were nearly all gobbled down by it!

Looking at the well-fed pig sniggering, Su Pan’er noticed her fabric pouch had quite obviously deflated.

Qin Yi smiled and suggested, "We don’t really have anything to do this evening, how about we take a stroll on the street?"

With their bellies full, going for a walk would be beneficial.

Su Pan’er hesitated slightly but then nodded her assent.

The two left their room hand in hand, and headed outside the postal relay station.

The rascal pig waddled along behind them.

At night, Changze County City carried a heavy, oppressive and deathly silence, with a dry, heated sensation faintly wafting in the air that made one feel stifled.

There were very few pedestrians on the street, and most of the shops had already closed. The ones still opened were mainly funeral stores and taverns.

The fickering candle lights from the funeral stores surrounded by floral wreaths coupled with the occasional bouts of crying made people feel somewhat melancholic.

In stark contrast to the funeral stores were the taverns, filled with boisterous men, their merriment and noise audible from a distance. The two stopped and looked at each other before deciding to enter one.

"How many guests?"

A dark-skinned, rather rustic-looking waiter quickly approached them.

"Just the two of us. We want a private room by the window," Qin Yi ordered nonchalantly.

"Right! Private room upstairs."

The waiter sang out loudly, leading them up the stairs to their private room.

Unfortunately, even in the private room, raucous laughter and loud talking could still be heard from nearby rooms, making it almost deafening.

"What kind of wine would you like to drink?" the waiter asked.

"What types of wine do you have here?"

"Sir, when it comes to the wine we offer, and not to blow our own trumpet, but we have the largest variety of locally brewed wine in this county. Whatever wine you fancy, our tavern can surely meet your satisfaction!" boasted the waiter, thumping his chest confidently.

Qin Yi glanced at Su Pan’er, "We’ll have the Lui Family’s Yellow Wine then!"

The Lui Family’s Yellow Wine was the wine Lui Muyi had been selling, which also served as the base wine for their Bamboo Leaf Green Wine. The Bamboo Leaf Green Wine produced jointly by the Qin Family and the Lui Family had already entered the market via Lui Family’s sales channels. However, some shortage issues persisted due to low production numbers.

Most of the times when they occasionally got together for a casual drinks, they used the Yellow Wine sent over from the Lui Family.

This moment was no different.

The waiter’s smile froze on his face all of a sudden!

But following a brief moment, he managed to smile again, "From Lin county, aren’t you? That’s where you probably have tasted the Lui Family’s Yellow Wine. But, we don’t sell that wine here. Would you like to try something else?"

Su Pan’er and Qin Yi were taken aback.

"Didn’t you just brag about having every possible kind of wine? Why the sudden change of tune?"

"Well...I...I dare not say much about that." replied the waiter, conveniently dodging the question and began busily cleaning the table and chairs with a cloth.

"Well then, bring us your best-selling wine," ordered Qin Yi casually before asking, "By the way, your tavern business seems to be doing well despite the downturn everywhere else. Is it because the local people particularly enjoy their drink?"

"Bingo! Sir, you’ve hit the nail on the head!"

The waiter gave a thumbs up, "The people here may not care much about anything else, but they do enjoy their wines. Busy during the day, they usually step out in the evening for a few cups."

"There’s such a tradition?"

Both of them were slightly surprised.

"Indeed. This has a lot to do with the geographical characteristics of Changze County."

The waiter started to talk enthusiastically, "Sir, Changze County is located in the midst of mountains which traps heat and makes it swelteringly hot during the day and still extremely warm at night. Coupled with the frequent dense fog leading to higher humidity, a bit of drinking not only dispels the dampness and invigorates the blood, but also serves as a gathering to relieve boredom. Moreover, given the affordability of alcohol, why not enjoy it?"

So it has to do with regional characteristics?

The two looked at each other, beginning to understand.
