Chapter 36 Flipping the Table! Part 1
Chapter 36: Chapter 36 Flipping the Table! Part 1
On one side, three people were happily chatting and laughing. On the other, the men at one table were still arm wrestling and drinking.
After three rounds of wine, everyone’s faces faintly showed signs of intoxication.
Su Sikong’s gaze met Qin Yi’s, and he felt a sudden movement in his heart. His fat face shook a few times, his narrowed eyes barely showing his pupils. He picked up his wine cup and chuckled a few times: "Qin Yi, it’s certainly rare for you and Pan’er to visit us. As your uncle, I must say a few words."
Qin Yi startled, somewhat uncomfortable amid his encounter with Su Sikong, particularly given Su Yue’er’s broken engagement. However, as the man was his uncle, he was obliged to engage.
"Uncle, what instructions do you have for Qin Yi?"
Su Sikong’s eyes were blurry, and he did not see the chill in Qin Yi’s eyes. Instead, he put on a face of reproof.
"It’s not so much about giving instructions, but more about Pan’er, this unruly girl. She ’s a Qin by marriage now, but she was borne of the Su family. You must manage her well. If she continues to behave irrespectively, what will become of her? If she does something embarrassing, it won’t be just the Su family that loses face, but you, Qin Yi, as well!"
Having said that, he even laughed coldly a few times.
Upon hearing this, Qin Yi’s face darkened: "I wonder, upon what grounds do you call Pan’er an unruly girl? And on what basis do you conclude that she will embarrass herself? I can’t agree with these absurdities!"
Qin Yi’s face immediately changed.
"Ha-ha! Su Pan’er has always been an unruly girl! She’s not from the Su family by birth. The Su family raised her all these years, but to our surprise, she turned out to be an ingrate!" Su Sikong sneered.
"Not from the Su family?"
Neglecting his anger, Qin Yi repeated these words in shock.
Enboldened by the wine, Su Sikong belched, "She’s a wild issue, a low-born wretch of unknown origin. Ask any Su family member, they all know. When she was brought back home, she was no bigger than a kitten. If it weren’t for the Su family, she would have lost her life. And yet today, she is ungrateful, she repays kindness with ingratitude, worse than a beast!"
In his wrath, he wept, his voice loud enough for Su Pan’er outside the courtyard to hear.
Su Pan’er swung around, her eyes immediately filled with a storm!
So Su Sikong thought he was too kind? Thought she was too easy to bully?
Just about to speak, she suddenly heard a loud "bang!" from inside, followed by the sound of dishes breaking.
She hurriedly took a few steps to the door, and saw a crowd of gawkers blocking the entrance.
The tables and chairs had been overturned, bowls and dishes rolled all over the floor, and soup was splashed everywhere.
"Out of the way!"
She reprimanded them, pushing through the crowd to enter the house.
Inside, the tables and chairs were overturned. Qin Yi was holding the back of a chair, panting heavily, his icy gaze on Su Sikong. His normally pale face was now flushed. The rest of the people in the room looked as if they had seen a ghost and were silent as they looked at the overturned table and chairs.
Su Pan’er could no longer care- in two steps she was in front of Qin Yi, arms spread out protectively, sternly condemning Su Sikong.
"Have you had enough? Can’t you see that he’s ill? Don’t think notbeing the deputy county magistrate gives you the right to bully people! Annoy me, and I’ll turn my back on you without a changing who you are one bit! Stick out your hand and I’ll take you down in a second."
Having said that, she lifted her leg and kicked a wooden stool next to her.
"Crack!"
The stool broke in half!
Su Sikong shivered, his face instantly turning pale, then iron blue, then as black as the bottom of a pot! After a moment, it turned beet red. His body trembling, his layers of fat jiggling.
He intended to slap the table, but met empty air. He overplayed his hand and almost fell to the ground, quickly retracting his hand.
His finger trembling, he pointed at Su Pan’er and roared threateningly, "Su Pan’er, you stupid girl, get out of my sight! This is the Su family, and not a place for you to run wild! Get out! Get out of the Su family! Get out of my sight!"
"I can come and go as I please, and it’s not your place to tell me to leave! If it wasn’t for my parents and younger brother, I wouldn’t even bother coming back. However, I I had enough today. Seeing your dog face makes me sick! Qin Yi, let’s go."
Without saying another word, Su Pan’er grabbed Qin Yi and quickly left the Su’s residence.
Watching their retreating figures, Su Sikong was so angry he couldn’t utter a word. His body was shaking like leaves in the autumn wind, his face turning green, white, and black. He looked like he was about to faint.
Su Yue’er’s eyes were fixed on Qin Yi, full of strange emotions, evidently deep in thought about something.
Only after leaving the Su family did Qin Yi finally get a chance to speak.
"Umm...I just wanted to say... it was me who overturned the table."
Su Pan’er stopped in her tracks, turned around sharply and looked at him incredulously: "What did you say?"
"I said, I overturned the table."
Qin Yi coughed hard for several times, panting before saying, "You heard the excessive words your uncle said before, and I lost my temper, so I... Pan’er, you’re not angry with me, are you?"
Qin Yi was also a bit embarrassed. He had been so angry that he flipped the table.
Thinking back on it now, that action really didn’t seem like something he would do.
"No, I’m not."
Su Pan’er looked at him carefully and shook her head gently.
She couldn’t resist teasing him, "I never thought, you can be fierce, even know how to overturn tables? It’s beyond my expectation, really remarkable!"
It turned out when a normally gentle person loses their temper, it could be terrifying!
"I, I was just really angry..."
Qin Yi was stammering, unsure of how to explain.
"Pan’er! Pan’er, wait!"
Before Su Pan’er could respond, Mrs. Su-Hua had followed and hurried, panting heavily.
Finally catching up, she quickly grabbed Su Pan’er: "You! Why are you so temperamental these days? So what if someone says a few words about you, it won’t hurt you. Just let them talk."
"Mom...you’re not telling me you chased me down just to say that."
Su Pan’er drawled.
"Not just that! You forgot about the basket backpack, didn’t you?"
Mrs. Su-Hua sighed helplessly, shaking her head: "Don’t be in such a hurry to leave, I’ve prepared some gifts for you to take back to the Qin family. You can’t just go back empty-handed, can you?"
Who would go back empty-handed when visiting their family home?
That’s unlucky!
Just as they were talking, Su Ke, leaning on his crutch, also came stumbling over, crying as soon as he saw Su Pan’er.
"Sister Four, Sister Four, please don’t leave....Sister Four! woo woo..."
