The Qin family’s bathroom is located behind the house. Su Pan’er carries a large bucket of warm water there, and thoroughly cleans the half-person-high bathtub before pouring the hot water in. It takes three to four trips to fill the bathtub halfway.

She carelessly closes the door then begins undressing. She stayed overnight at the county government office, been running around during the day buying this and that; rushing to keep up. She is already exhausted.

She picks up a washcloth and slowly sinks into the hot water.

When Qin Yi, who has tidied up the house, pushes open the bathroom door and his eyes fall on the sight of her, his heart begins to pound, as if it might burst out of his chest.

He squints a little, although the dim light makes it hard to see clearly, everything feels extremely vivid to him.
