Chapter 221: Chapter 220 Learn a Lesson from One’s Mistakes _1
"Admit defeat? Fine, admit defeat! As a man, does it really matter if you lose once?"
A gleam lit up in Lui Muyi’s eyes, he looked at Su Pan’er with a beaming smile!
"Pan’er, you came back at just the right time. Old Xue and I are about to leave, why don’t you and your husband come back and stay at the Lui’s Mansion for a bit? My father has been eagerly awaiting your visit."
He won’t forget about the formula for Bamboo Leaf Green Wine.
"Going to the Lui’s Mansion? I’m not sure if that’s a good idea..."
Su Pan’er hesitated, turning her gaze toward Qin Yi, "It’s already quite late, and it might be inconvenient. It’s best if Qin Yi and I come and visit tomorrow. What do you think?"
Their eyes met, and Qin Yi gave a slight smile.
The light in Lui Muyi’s eyes dimmed a bit, but he quickly put on another smile.
"Agreed."
He nodded, "I’ll have my servants prepare the best wine for tomorrow morning and clean the guest room. Pan’er, you must not be late!"
"Certainly, certainly."
Su Pan’er agreed readily.
In fact, she had been back for quite some time now.
However, when she arrived, she overheard Hua’s county official discourse, so she naturally paused her steps.
She leaned against a column, watching the County Magistrate Jun closely.
His external features, manner of speech, and even the small habit he had when he was upset, slightly moving his ears, were all exactly the same as in the previous world.
This made Su Pan’er even more doubtful, was he the same person from her previous life?
Did he also come to this different world?
Seeing Lui Muyi and Old Xue getting up to leave, Jun Ruochen hastily stood up to retain them, "The city gate is already closed. We have plenty of guest rooms in the back office. Why don’t we continue drinking and you can stay here for the night, it won’t be too late to leave tomorrow morning."
With that, he dragged Old Xue to sit down again.
Old Xue waved his hand, "The old man would like to stay. However, Lui Ming is waiting for my acupuncture treatment. This is the main reason for my visit to Yongze County, and there can’t be any delay. Once his treatment is done, I’ll have the chance to visit again!"
Considering Old Xue’s character, he naturally disdained to explain so much to a junior.
However, it just so happened that Old Xue and Jun Ruochen’s father had met a few times and had some friendship. Respect for Jun Ruochen, out of courtesy to his father, Old Xue wouldn’t fail to give him some face.
Having said this, Jun Ruochen naturally couldn’t insist on retaining them any longer.
Unexpectedly, Su Pan’er and Qin Yi were also determined to escort them, and the group lit their lanterns and headed out of the government office.
Everyone was escorting Old Xue out, just having crossed the bridge, a shadow could be seen lying ahead.
The maidservant quickly went up to check. "My lord, it’s Deputy County Magistrate Su drunk and lying here."
Was it Su Sikong?
Everyone quickly approached and found that it was indeed him!
Su Sikong on the ground was disheveled, still muttering curses in his sleep. There was a puddle of vomit around him, and his entire body was lying in it. His face and hair were covered with sticky residue, a sour stench filled the air, forcing everyone to cover their noses and avoid approach.
"What happened? How could Deputy County Magistrate Su be lying drunk here by himself?"
There was a suspicious twitch at the corner of Jun Ruochen’s mouth. The smell was really unpleasant.
This bridge was on the main path between the front and back courtyards, and Su Sikong’s residence was on the other end. Why would he be here?
"Maybe he’s too drunk to know his way."
A smile flashed in Hwa Diexiang’s eyes. He quickly turned and gave orders to his page boy, "What are you waiting for? Hurry up and help Deputy County Magistrate Su back to his residence."
"Yes, sir."
Upon receiving the orders, the two page boys quickly came forward and escorted Su Sikong towards his courtyard.
Jun Ruochen slightly furrowed his brows but quickly regained his composure, "Deputy County Magistrate Su rarely drinks and isn’t good at it, I’m afraid we’ve all had a laugh at his expense. Old Xue, after you, watch your step."
With that, he continued to accompany Old Xue out.
Su Pan’er glanced at the direction where Su Sikong disappeared and her lips curved into a smirk.
Su Sikong, already quite drunk and swearing all the way in pursuit of her, showed no signs of stopping. Not far from the bridge, he could vaguely hear the sounds of laughter from the other end and was contemplating a retreat.
Chasing her all this way only to want to leave now?
Su Pan’er’s eyes flashed coldly. When Su Sikong tried to turn and sneak away, she picked up a stone and hurled it in his direction.
Su Sikong felt his knees weaken, slipped, and fell.
The fall wasn’t easy; coupled with a bit of drunkenness, he lay grounded, not able to get up for a while.
A gust of cool wind blew over and triggered a topsy-turvy feeling inside his stomach. He vomited up his dinner. Unfortunately, he was too weak to get up and fell innumerable times. Naturally, the vomit ended up splattered all over his face and body, the stench caused him to faint.
Seeing Su Sikong, who was still being reckless despite being helped by the two page boys, Su Pan’er gave a nonchalant laugh.
Hopefully, he learned something from this lesson!
As they exited the main gate of the county government office, Old Xue was still reminding her, "Ugly girl, don’t forget to bring me those good medicinal ingredients as promised. Come to the Lui Family’s Mansion tomorrow, and let’s have a good talk about medical science...without any interruptions."
Feeling a little disappointed after the poetry contest this evening, that’s why he spoke like this.
Su Pan’er naturally agreed at once, "Don’t you worry Old Xue, Pan’er dare not disobey."
It wasn’t until after the carriage departed that Lui Muyi’s voice could still be heard from a distance, "Pan’er, you should have a good rest. I’ll come to pick you up early tomorrow!"
His clear voice echoed from afar, which successfully changed the expression on Qin Yi’s handsome face.
"Let’s go! Let’s continue to spar in poetry!"
Hwa Diexiang suddenly grabbed Qin Yi’s arm.
He was plunged into writing poems at this moment. During his long stay in this small place, he couldn’t find anyone to engage in a worthy poetry duel. Now that he’s finally warmed up, he wouldn’t give up on Qin Yi lightly.
Qin Yi had no choice but to return to the pavilion corridor to keep him company.
As they exchanged words, with County Magistrate Jun occasionally leading the conversation, the three of them chatted harmoniously.
Su Pan’er was the only one sitting aside, bolstering their enthusiasm with her wine jar.
Between the gentile Qin Yi, the unruly Jun Ruochen, and the cool Hwa Diexiang, if this were in another world, they would all be the stars of the runway. A dazzlingly handsome trio that astonishingly blinded Su Pan’er’s eyes.
Even though Su Pan’er was not a fanatical fan of anyone, she had to admit that each of these three men had their unique qualities. Seeing them individually was pleasing to the eyes, let alone all three together.
They say that the more one looks at a beauty under the light, the more attractive they become.
And here, watching these gorgeous men while sipping on her wine, was an entirely different taste.
The conversation between Qin Yi and Hwa Diexiang became even more enjoyable. They seemingly lamented the belated meeting, and were determined to stay up all night drinking her wine. Having already poured a few jars of fine wine, Su Pan’er, feeling dizzy, excused herself and headed back to her guest room.
After all the commotion, she still couldn’t find sleep. Deciding to get up again, she went and lay down on the grass beside the corridor of a waterfront building, and stared at the stars in the sky.
When Qin Yi finally called it a night and returned, he saw Su Pan’er propping her head and gazing at the stars, a soft and beautiful sight.
