Chapter 209: Chapter 208 Drenched Chicken_1
"Fourth Elder Younger Cousin Sister, Sister Yue’er started having a high fever last night and hasn’t woken up yet. What should we do?"
Su Xian’er said anxiously.
Su Pan’er glanced at her.
Her eyes met with Su Xian’er’s, which were cold but devoid of worry.
Su Xian’er seemed taken aback and quickly lowered her gaze.
"Yes, she indeed has a high fever. It’s probably from the wounds on her body," Su Pan’er said, as she began to examine her.
It was apparent from Yue’er’s face that she received a slap. There were bruises on her neck, her arm was dislocated, and not properly reset causing a second injury, causing her shoulders to turn dark purple. Two of her ribs were torn, which could take a fortnight to heal. There were countless small wounds all over her body, especially the two prominent black footprints on her chest.
The more Su Pan’er inspected, the more alarmed she became.
What kind of inhuman torture had Su Yue’er been subjected to, to be so badly injured?
"Fourth Younger Cousin Sister, don’t you see what happened to Sister Yue’er? Could it be..."
Su Xian’er hesitantly mumbled and subtly glanced at Su Yue’er’s private parts.
"It’s nothing serious, mostly just bruising, there’s no major damage," Su Pan’er said, lying with her eyes wide open as she glanced at the two footprints on Su Yue’er’s chest.
"Are you sure it’s alright?"
Su Xian’er grabbed Su Pan’er’s hand, her fingers icy to touch as she trembled slightly. She bit her lip and whispered, "Eighth Master came out of Sister Yue’er’s room last night, and she was completely naked. Could her purity be... compromised?"
"Hmm?"
Su Pan’er frowned, "What are you implying, Fifth Cousin Sister?"
She shook off Xian’er’s hand, turned around, and began to write the prescription.
"I..I’m just...worried," Su Xian’er mumbled, and fell silent, watching Su Pan’er.
Both women, each with their own thoughts, failed to notice that Su Yue’er, in her feverish state, had overheard their conversation. She wanted to speak out, but was too weak to do so. And soon, her vision blackened, and she slipped into unconsciousness again.
Su Pan’er prepared the prescription and chose the medicinal ingredients, then handed them both to Su Xian’er.
"Go and prepare the decoction quickly!"
Su Pan’er casually instructed, then turned her attention back to tending the patient.
Su Yue’er was already weak, and with both external and internal injuries, coupled with excessive fright, her high fever came on strongly. Even a slight negligence could cost a life.
When the decoction was brought and administered, Su Yue’er’s fever gradually subsided, her breathing slowly steadied. After Su Pan’er treated all the wounds internally and externally, she finally let out a breath of relief.
Packing her things, she walked out of the room.
Throughout, Su Xian’er had stayed by her side.
"Why? She’s treated you so horribly, you should hate her. Why do you help her and treat her wounds?"
Not able to suppress her curiosity any longer, Su Xian’er asked the question that had been buried in her heart.
Su Pan’er turned back, looking into Su Xian’er’s puzzled face.
"It’s nothing. Simply put...because she was my patient just then," she said and walked out of the room.
Su Xian’er was left behind, looking disbelieving. Was it really that simple?
She had always thought that like herself, Su Pan’er had been bullied since childhood but was unable to express her indignation. This was possibly her best chance to retaliate. How could she possibly put her heart into treating Su Yue’er?
But everything was completely beyond her expectations!
Exiting the door, Su Pan’er shook her head and smiled.
Even if she really disliked Su Yue’er, she would absolutely not take advantage of her illness to act against her! Preying on the vulnerable was not Su Pan’er’s style.
Su Sikong, having waited impatiently outside the door, watched as Su Pan’er appeared. His pupils tightened, "How is it?"
"She has multiple bruises on her body and two ribs microractured. She should rest in bed for about half a month. Right now, her high fever has subsided. However, we must still be cautious to prevent a recurrence. That would be troublesome!"
Su Pan’er pointed behind her. "The prescription is in Xian’er’s hands, you can temporarily use it. Also, Uncle, it would be best to ask a skilled doctor to come and take a look. I wouldn’t want to risk my cousin’s condition due to my insufficient medical skills."
Having said this, she bypassed Su Sikong and headed out.
This statement, not surprisingly, would prompt the suspicious Su Sikong to invite other skilled doctors anyway.
Until she left the Su Family, a piercing gaze from behind never left her.
Not sure what Grandfather exactly meant by "do your best," Su Pan’er, as she stepped out of the Su Family’s main gate, couldn’t help but look back at the house where Patriach Su lived.
In his study, Patriach Su lay on a recliner, gently resting with his eyes closed.
A light knock came from the door.
"Come in."
The door creaked open and Su Huarong entered with unusual reverence and reported, "Grandfather, Fourth Cousin Sister has left."
"Hmm, any movements from Kong’er’s side?"
Patriach Su’s eyes remained closed.
"Uncle didn’t say anything." Su Huarong didn’t even raise his head.
"Hmm, you may leave."
Patriach Su commanded and suddenly opened his eyes. "Oh, and didn’t your uncle mention that he wanted your three brothers to go to the county government office? You should prepare to go. Go on."
Su Huarong abruptly raised his head, his face filled with surprise as he looked at him.
He then quickly lowered his head again.
"Yes, Grandfather."
After Su Huarong left, Patriach Su remained motionless for a long time.
After a while, he let out a deep sigh and turned his gaze out to the window.
Outside the window, the wind was rising, signaling a change in the weather!
Just as Su Pan’er arrived home, a heavy rain began to pour. Fortunately, she had come back earlier, or she would have been drenched.
Just as she was feeling extremely lucky, she saw Qin Yi rush into the house with a basket backpack, drenched from the rain.
"Ha-ha! I thought I was going to be a drowned rat. It turns out you’re the drowned rat."
Su Pan’er couldn’t help but laugh.
"Really, you’re calling me a drowned rat! You’ll see what’s coming."
Qin Yi raised an eyebrow, dropped his basket backpack, and flew over, grabbing her and playfully rubbing his face against hers. "They say misery loves company, let’s share it together today! Ha-ha-ha."
Su Pan’er initially tried to push him away, realized her clothes were already wet, she relaxed, reaching out to rub his face.
"Same for you, shared joy is a double joy."
The two of them giggled and had a great time with each other.
After some bantering, Qin Yi took off his wet clothes, rummaged around, and then remembered that one of Su Pan’er’s sets of clothes was still drying after being washed, and another set got soaked earlier. He then gave her a set of his own clothes to wear.
To his surprise, Su Pan’er looked quite good in men’s clothes which stunned Qin Yi!
"I never would have imagined that you look so impressive in men’s clothes. If other girls saw this, many would probably cry and beg to marry you!"
