Chapter 207: Chapter 206: Kiss Marks on the Neck_1
"Go away! If you sweet-talk me again, see how I will deal with you!"
With a flushed face, Su Pan’er glared at him fiercely, unable to resist throwing a pillow from the bed at him.
Qin Yi smoothly caught it, and with a hearty laugh, he left the room.
He knew that if he said any more, a certain woman might get angry out of embarrassment.
Su Pan’er picked up a new set of crescent-white clothes made by her mother to change into, but she heard Qin Yi talking to someone outside. Listening carefully, her face couldn’t help but show a touch of shyness and surprise, and she quickly sped up her movements.
The one talking with Qin Yi at this moment was Su Pan’er’s mother, Mrs. Su-Hua.
"Mother-in-law, please have some tea, Pan’er will come out soon."
Qin Yi smilingly served the clear tea.
Mrs. Su-Hua looked at Qin Yi with a smile in her eyes, somewhat surprised at his good mood, but didn’t ask much: "That child Pan’er, it’s already high noon and she’s still sleeping. Qin Yi, don’t worry. When Pan’er comes out, I will certainly teach her some lessons, instructing her on what it is to be a wife."
The words immediately amused Qin Yi.
No one knew better than he did how diligent Su Pan’er was. The fact that she slept until late morning was largely due to his repeated demands last night.
Thinking of the languid appearance of Su Pan’er when he saw her just now, he felt another strange sensation in his heart.
Hearing his mother-in-law’s words, he quickly denied it.
"Mother-in-law, Pan’er, Pan’er got up a while ago, but she accidentally dirtied her clothes just now and went back to the room to change."
He quickly brought out candies and pastries to entertain his mother-in-law: "Pan’er is so diligent, she is good, really good! This son-in-law is very satisfied, you can rest assured, mother-in-law."
"Is it really so?"
Seeing Qin Yi repeatedly praise Su Pan’er, Mrs. Su-Hua was also very pleased and her eyes were full of smiles.
She replied politely, "If there’s anything that Pan’er is not doing well, just tell me, and I will be sure to correct her."
"Mother, what did you want to say about me?"
Su Pan’er lifted the grass curtain and came out from the inner room, asking with a smile.
The corners of her mouth and eyebrows all had a bit of girlish charm, and especially when her eyes fell on Qin Yi, she quickly and unnaturally looked away.
As soon as Qin Yi saw Su Pan’er, his eyes became fervent, wishing he could stick to her right away.
"Nothing, nothing! Haha..."
As a woman of experience, Mrs. Su-Hua had a sense of what was going on just by watching the exchange of glances between Su Pan’er and Qin Yi.
She quickly changed the subject and picked up the clear teacup to sip leisurely.
"Pan’er, you chat with your mother-in-law, I’ll go get the food. I made some Yellow Braised Fish and a few side dishes in the kitchen, which is perfect for mother-in-law to taste the son-in-law’s culinary skills."
Qin Yi busily called out, before heading back into the kitchen.
"Alright, remember to make a soup too."
Su Pan’er instructed.
She was particularly thirsty. Seeing three bowls of tea on the table, she quickly picked up one and drank most of it in one gulp.
Lifting her head, she just met Mrs. Su-Hua’s probing eyes. She quickly smiled, "Mother, what are you looking at?"
"What do you think I’m looking at?"
Mrs. Su-Hua glanced at her, got up and quietly looked inside the room, then moved closer to Su Pan’er: "So, how are you and Qin Yi... getting along?"
"Good, why wouldn’t it be? Mother, why would you ask that?"
As she spoke, Su Pan’er picked up the tea again and drank.
Mrs. Su-Hua had a you-can’t-fool-me expression on her face.
"I know you two are affectionate, but wait a moment, Mom is going to change your hairstyle to hide the marks on your neck. You young people, really lack self-control! Even though you’re young, and it’s inevitable that there would be some ... But, you mustn’t ... Oh ..."
"Pft - cough, cough!"
Su Pan’er was originally sipping tea. She had heard half of her mother’s speech but didn’t quite get the drift.
But it started to sound off the more she listened. She spat out her tea instantly, choking hard. Her face flushed red like a shrimp, her neck, too!
"Look at you, child. How did you choke on water?"
Mrs. Su-Hua quickly stood up to pat her on the back.
"What happened? What made you choke on your tea? Are you still not feeling well?" Qin Yi asked, rushing out of the kitchen, looking concerned.
"Nothing much, she just choked on her tea."
Mrs. Su-Hua hurriedly patted her back to help her breathe easy.
"You’re unneeded, go and get the food ready, I’m hungry!"
Having finally caught her breath, Su Pan’er glared at Qin Yi, flustered and angry. What is he rushing out for now?
Qin Yi glanced between the two of them. Seeing his wife flushed in embarrassment, and his mother-in-law trying hard to suppress her laughter, he followed his mother-in-law’s gaze. Upon noticing the kiss mark on Su Pan’er’s neck, he awkwardly scratched his head.
"The food is ready, it’s time to eat," he said, immediately skulking back into the kitchen.
The interaction between the pair amused Mrs. Su-Hua. Laughing heartily, she breathed a sigh of relief.
She had been worried.
Qin Yi was young, promising, and handsome, whereas her own daughter, Pan’er, was homely and a little robust. She was worried that they might not get along after marriage. But seeing their current situation, she finally put her mind at ease.
Although she had already eaten, she still sat at the dining table.
Looking around, she didn’t see Ke’er: "Huh? Where is Ke’er? Why hasn’t he come out to eat, I’ll go call him."
She stood up as she spoke.
"Mom, Ke’er is not at home," Su Pan’er rushed to stop her.
"What’s the matter? Pan’er."
Mrs. Su-Hua’s face changed. Initially not seeing Ke’er around, she assumed he was sleeping, considering his leg injury.
But now...
"Mom, it’s because of that Eighth Master."
Su Pan’er had already prepared her excuse: "You don’t know, recently the Eighth Master keeps sending people to my door for me to treat the Seventh Master. I’m worried that if something goes wrong ... they might take it out on Ke’er, so I sent him to stay with Aunt Zhou. Aunt Zhou, she is..."
"You mean Zhou Ning’s mother, right? I know her, she’s a kind person."
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Su-Hua relaxed and interrupted Su Pan’er.
Then, she remembered something and laughed: "Speaking of this, I came here early today to do with that Eighth Master."
Su Pan’er was stunned, but understood after giving it a thought.
"Mom, what exactly happened?"
"What happened indeed, I wanted to ask Su Yue’er the same thing!"
Mrs. Su-Hua covered her mouth and laughed: "It was Su Yue’er, I don’t know what’s happened to her. She got injured all over by the Eighth Master, so much so that he left last night bringing the Seventh Master with him. I thought that was all, but this morning, she faints all of a sudden. It wasn’t until your uncle asked me to find you to treat her secretly."
Su Yue’er fainted?
Although she had learnt from the little pig that Su Yue’er was abused by the Eighth Master, she never expected that the injuries would be so severe.
