Chapter 118: Chapter 118 Make Full Use of Everything_1
Over at the old Qin residence, Mrs. Qin-Li and Qin Wan’er left in high spirits but returned dejected.
Mother and daughter both sat listlessly in their chairs, not saying a word.
Mrs. Qin-Chen was sobbing incessantly, her shrill cries causing the juniors to avoid her path, none daring to approach.
Chen Laoshi had fainted several times, his white, broken bone piercing through the flesh, terrifying everyone present, and none dared step forward to assist.
It was only until the doctor arrived that everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
"This leg break is very suspicious!"
The doctor examined him and shook his head repeatedly, "The wound appears to be crushed, and the broken bone crumbles to dust at the slightest touch. Currently, there are two treatment options. One is to amputate his leg, which would make the treatment easier and also cost much less. The second is to roughly join the broken bones together and then slowly heal. If he is lucky and able to overcome this difficult time, he could walk with the aid of a crutch without much issue."
Everyone gasped!
Mrs. Qin-Chen’s face turned pale instantly, "Doctor, you mean, my elder brother’s leg will be crippled? Is amputation necessary?"
"His leg injury is too serious."
The doctor shook his head and bluntly stated, "If not amputated, the greatest likelihood is that the broken leg will get infected, won’t be able to heal, and could become life-threatening at its worst. If it does come to that, after enduring pain and spending money, the only option left will be to amputate his leg. You can decide amongst yourselves how to proceed."
What can they possibly do now?
Mrs. Qin-Chen was suddenly bereft of all ideas and slumped to the floor.
It’s all over, all over!
How is she going to report this back to her mother at her maiden family’s home? How will she explain this to her sister-in-law? Thinking about this, she couldn’t help but burst into tears.
Old Qin couldn’t bear the sight of it anymore.
"It’s up to you, Old Second Family, whether to treat your elder brother’s leg, and how to do it. Speak your mind!"
The third daughter-in-law had just saved the Qin Family, and now, this second daughter-in-law brings outsiders to their doorstep, taking advantage of the family. It is disgraceful! He wondered where he should hide his face in shame.
But right now, they had to deal with the situation at hand!
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Qin-Chen hastily wiped away her tears, "Father-in-law, it’s not that I don’t want to solve the problem, but I have no money! Look at my foot....it’s already broken too! How heartless is Su Pan’er! Woo woo..."
Talking about the heartbreak, she cries out loud!
Her foot was hit by the bed and had swelled like a pig’s foot, black and purple all over, making it impossible for her to touch the ground.
"That’s what you get! You received the money and good, and yet you still had the audacity to make a scene?!"
Old Qin yelled in anger, looking at the unconscious Chen Laoshi, "Hurry up! Come up with a plan soon so that the doctor can start his treatment. If this continues, your elder brother’s life is at stake!"
"The second treatment method will cost a lot of money, right?"
Qin Gui from the second room spoke hastily, "Doctor Hu was chased away by the third auntie, so this doctor was invited from the market fair. Going back and forth, a lot of effort is required and the consultation and medicine costs might be..."
In the end, it all comes down to money.
Upon hearing these words, Mrs. Qin-Chen immediately became angry!
"What are you babbling about, you brat? I am your mother, and he is your uncle, do you not even want to treat our injuries? Do you not care about our lives either? Get out!"
Qin Gui was scolded such that his whole body shrank, "Even if we want to treat it, we need money, right? The consultation fee for house calls isn’t cheap. Where is the money?"
His words hit the nail on the head, making everyone look at each other.
Nobody said anything.
Even Old Qin fell silent.
"I, I have some silver..."
Chen Laoshi, who had fainted, was slowly regaining consciousness, his eyelids slightly trembling.
Mrs. Qin-Chen immediately burst into tears, "Elder Brother, are you alright?"
Chen Laoshi sighed and nodded his head. He fumbled around for a while in his pocket, finally producing a tiny piece of broken silver coin from his belt, "Go on, invite the doctor in..."
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief knowing that they had the money.
Su Pan’er, unaware of what was happening at Qin’s family, was busy collecting medicinal herbs at the moment.
However, the busier she was, the more the wildlife in the forests meddled.
Over a short distance, she already encountered several venomous snakes, two jackals, a pair of civets, a leopard, and decided to outrightly ignore animals like bamboo rats, yellow weasels, roe deer, and muskrats as they didn’t harm people willingly.
Especially right now, she ran into a pack of wild dogs.
These packs of wild dogs were annoying!
Perhaps they were attracted by the smell of blood from the wild game in her basket. She couldn’t breed more and faster irrespective of constant killings. They gathered in large numbers and howled from time to time. If they managed to attract a wolf pack, it would be a massive waste of time!
Looking at the herbs in the basket, she noticed the lack of an essential medicinal ingredient, ’Grass to Grow Muscles and Heal Bones’, required for curing Ke’er. Meanwhile, the wild dogs were persistently chasing her, which was increasingly infuriating!
"Why are you still hiding? Do you need me to invite you over?"
She was glancing at a particular spot in the woods.
From there, rustling sounds were heard, and swiftly, the little Bama pig poked its head out of the bushes, wagging its tail.
"Pan’er, hehe! Good Pan’er..."
The pig was desperately blinking its small piggy eyes trying to act cute, its big cattail leaf fan-like ears were ceaselessly fluttering, and its tail was wobbling round and round.
"Less talk!"
Su Pan’er dumped all the wild games at the pig’s feet, "Don’t you have a storage space inside your body? Hurry and put these away. These wild dogs have enough spirit in their noses, there’s an increasing crowd gathering here!"
"What? This wild game smells foul. I am not storing them."
The little Bama pig immediately disagreed and attempted to dash off.
However, Su Pan’er managed to grab its ear before it could escape!
"Fair enough! We haven’t settled the accounts yet, and now, it seems to be the perfect time to do so! Let’s see, whether I have the upper hand or, you stubborn pig."
Just as she was about to take action, the little pig who feared death instantly squawked!
"Please don’t! Pan’er, Good Pan’er, I was just kidding, it’s not like I refused!"
While it struggled in the gap between Su Pan’er’s fingers.
"That sounds more like it."
Su Pan’er tossed it to the ground, "Go on, put these wild games away. Don’t just stand there! There’s still one medicinal ingredient which I couldn’t find, and I don’t want to waste any more time dealing with these wild dogs."
"Which medicinal herb? Are you referring to grassroots? I can help you find it, believe me, there’s no one better at finding grass roots than me!"
Despite its discontent, the Dama pig proceeded to pick up the pile of wild games finally.
This statement instantly brightened Su Pan’er’s eyes!
Why did she forget about this? The one thing this pig, which only ever caused trouble, was best at was finding "grassroots".
"Why didn’t you say so earlier! You’ve wasted half my day. Hurry up!"
The Little Bama pig rolled over on the ground, then stood up moving its plump big body forwards, humming and huffing as it walked.
"Now, watch and learn! Hehe... Trust me, and you will live forever! With me taking action, it’s sure to be a success. Rest assured, when I handle things, they’re always done properly!"
Urgh!
Su Pan’er almost spat out a mouthful of blood!
Pegs might fly!
When did this damn pig ever do something reliable apart from boasting?
