Chapter 1013: Reversing Time
Chapter 1013: Chapter 1013: Reversing Time
"Empress!"
Ye Han shouted in a low voice, stopping Su Pan’er.
Su Pan’er instinctively paused, turned her head, and suddenly locked eyes with a pair of anxious eyes. A nameless pain struck her heart, and she froze on the spot.
Ye Han also realized his look was too intense and quickly composed his thoughts.
He said gravely, "Empress, Monk Liao Jue is incredibly skilled. It’s too dangerous for you and His Majesty to go there. Why not let this subject check things out and bring back news as soon as possible? You see..."
Su Pan’er glanced at Qin Yi, who was eyeing Ye Han with a searing gaze, making Ye Han feel as though he was stripped naked in front of him, exceedingly embarrassed yet unable to leave.
"That sounds good, then I’ll trouble King Ye."
Qin Yi’s lips were tightly sealed, a flash of light quickly crossed the depths of his eyes; the black solitude within seemed to be swallowing one whole as he stood firm, holding Su Pan’er.
"This subject obeys the order!"
Ye Han, somewhat disheveled, gave a fist salute, then maneuvered past the two and sprinted towards the direction of the scuffle.
Qin Yi watched Ye Han’s departing figure, his thoughts unknown.
"Yi, why did you agree to Brother Ye? Are we really not going over?"
Su Pan’er stamped her foot, feeling indecisive.
Qin Yi came back to his senses, glanced at Su Pan’er, and playfully pinched her little nose, smearing his hand over her head with a bit of amusement.
"I agreed for King Ye to personally investigate; when did I say we weren’t going?"
Su Pan’er blinked her fox eye-shaped eyes, suddenly understanding.
She smiled mischievously, "So His Majesty knows how to deceive people too!"
"When have I ever deceived anyone?"
Qin Yi lifted his thick eyebrows seriously, "Let’s go! We’ll also quietly follow to take a look."
Su Pan’er naturally had no objections, and hand in hand with Qin Yi, they rushed through various courtyards toward the direction of the fight.
Huangjue Temple seemed like boiling oil with water added to it, the entire monastery trembling.
Countless Imperial Guards wielding gleaming swords and long spears were running swiftly within the monastery, with the flow of people surging towards the fight.
The monks in the temple panicked, running around in a fluster.
Su Pan’er was pulled forward by Qin Yi, as monks fleeing for their lives and brisk Imperial Guards rushed past them. Some were running in desperation, others kneeling to offer respects, yet Qin Yi did not spare a glance for any of them as he led Su Pan’er by the hand, swiftly pulling away.
They left everyone with an elegant back view.
The rascal pig was dumbfounded!
It was abandoned by the pair on the Bell and Drum Tower, its mouth agape, eyes bulging, and its two fan pig ears erect.
Before it could recover from the shock, Su Pan’er had already vanished.
When it regained its wits, it bounced up three feet high like a startled kitty, exclaiming, "This, this this this... this creature that favors the opposite sex but not humanity, hmph hmph hmph! To actually leave your Grandfather Pig here, serves you right to be taken away by that smelly man. Oh my, why is Grandpa Pig’s life so hard..."
Ah, that’s not right!
Isn’t that Old Hag Mrs. Qin-Li’s catchphrase? How did I start imitating her!
The rascal pig hastily covered its mouth, its beady little pig eyes darting around to see if anyone had noticed it, and it was relieved to find that no one had.
It happily swished its little pig tail.
"Hehehe, it’d be foolish not to check out such a lively scene. Grandpa Pig wants to see what’s going on too. But, what exactly happened before? It seems to have gone beyond Grandpa Pig’s understanding?"
The rascal pig had mysterious confidence in his abilities.
Not only was it tough-skinned and fleshly, but it also had this unstoppable illusion technique to rely on, which was all the more reason for its confidence.
However, something seemed off about Pan’er’s reaction earlier. And what was with that old bald donkey and the Taoist priest who came after?
The rascal pig tugged hard at its fan pig ears; could it be that it really missed something?
With its brains, there was no way it could think of the formation issue, let alone that if Venerable Priest Liao Chen hadn’t broken the formation, Su Pan’er might already have been turned into a pile of minced meat by now.
"Forget it! If I can’t figure it out, then I won’t think about it, hehe, Grandpa Pig is coming!"
Fortunately, it was a carefree sort, quickly forgetting things once they passed. Flicking its little pig tail, its small body drew a line in the void and disappeared without a trace.
When it reappeared, it was near the fight between Liao Jue and Liao Chen, sitting atop a mountain peak enjoying the spectacle.
As it turned out, Liao Jue and Liao Chen had been fighting and falling back, unaware that they had come to the cold pond at the back of the mountain, with water on one side and a cliff on the other, and the peak behind Huangjue Temple on another. The only unobstructed path was the way they came, which was, unfortunately, behind them, crowded with countless members of the Imperial Guard, fearlessly pursuing them.
The rascal pig fanned its fan pig ears, watching and critiquing the scene.
"Ah! That old bald donkey is shameless, only knowing dirty tricks..."
"Ouch! That Taoist is so foolish, why doesn’t he go for the opponent’s eyes? Attack their vital points, will you!"
"Silly goose, take action! Oh no, this is bad, this is really bad, isn’t it? What if they die? What then..."
The rascal pig hopped up and down, muttering to itself.
Meanwhile, Liao Jue and Liao Chen also retreated to their respective positions after a fierce exchange.
After the battle, neither Liao Jue nor Liao Chen looked as they did at the outset.
Liao Jue’s kasaya was reduced to rags, hanging tattered on his body, and with the filth from his awkward evasions, he looked worse than a beggar in the street.
As for Liao Chen, part of his priest robe was missing, revealing an arm outside covered in a bloody streak. Clearly, if the wound had been any deeper, that arm might have been severed from his body.
Both men were breathing heavily, glaring at each other with mutual anger.
"Old Taoist Niubizi, are you deliberately trying to oppose me?"
Liao Jue, feeling frustrated, glared at Liao Chen: "Buddhism and Taoism are from the same family; why must you persist in harassing me?"
"Hmph! With someone like you, pretending to be virtuous but rotten to the core, everyone is justified in condemning you, let alone me!"
Liao Chen dismissed the accusation with a snort.
"Amitabha Buddha! Old Taoist Niubizi, spare me your hypocrisy by pretending to show compassion!"
Liao Jue covertly regulated his breathing, quietly observing an escape route: "Don’t think the things you do go unnoticed! You reversed time, summoning that wisp of ghost from a different world. You dare to commit such a heinous act, and yet you have the nerve to accuse me?"
These words immediately caused the rascal pig to perk up its fan pig ears.
What ghost was the old slaughterer talking about? And what was this different world?
The words also caused Venerable Priest Liao Chen’s face to suddenly change!
He couldn’t help but take several steps back, a flash of suspicion in his eyes, though he suppressed his astonishment and let out a cold laugh.
"Nonsense! If I had such ability, why would I linger here? With someone like you, I would have eliminated you long ago, to be done with it once and for all," he retorted.
