The destruction of Root happened as swiftly as water flowing through a stream. During the mission, it felt like a wind-up toy that had been set into motion, with the mind going blank, leaving only one thought behind: Kill them all.

After waiting for so long, not a single moment could be wasted. The fear of losing this opportunity drove Naruto to instinctively seize it with all his might.

Now that the dust had settled, no matter how Danzo tried to prove his innocence, even if he somehow managed to extricate himself from this, Root had been annihilated, and the dead could not be resurrected.

Two bloodied figures stood in the shade outside the Hokage Tower. Naruto looked at the azure sky, feeling an unprecedented sense of relief.

Yugao seemed lost in thought, her gaze unfocused. She leaned against a tree with a cold expression, as if finally relaxing after bearing immense pressure.

The cicadas chirped incessantly from the trees, and the summer breeze was cool and refreshing.

Neither of them spoke, nor did they move. They simply stood there, quietly basking in the aftermath of their revenge, savoring the fleeting satisfaction as the weight of pressure melted away.

Someone from the Hokage Tower came down, glanced at the two bloodstained figures, and quickly looked away before hastily departing. Tsunade's right-hand men had just severed Danzo's right-hand men.

The matter was far too big. So those who knew about it dared not speak, only remaining silent.

Inside the conference room, Danzo was furious.

"Where's the evidence? I’m asking you, is the evidence legitimate? It’s completely fabricated!"

Tsunade sat calmly in the main seat, her gaze sweeping over the two old Advisors. She even wanted to laugh now, after all, the more agitated Danzo became, the more amusing she found the situation.

The Root has become a thing of the past, and in times of peace, Konoha only needed the Anbu.

‘Crazy!’ Danzo's temples bulged, and he was almost on the verge of going berserk, ‘That crazy woman had used the brief time during the upper-level meeting to wipe out all the Root members I had painstakingly cultivated.’

"The evidence has been submitted, and the authenticity can be guaranteed to be within a reasonable range." Tsunade said indifferently, "Root preemptively rebelled and could only be suppressed."

"You!!" Danzo was on the verge of slamming the table.

The conference room buzzed with voices. The two old advisors looked grim, while the Clan Heads of the Yamanaka, Akimichi, and Nara Clans exchanged glances.

Inoichi and Choza looked at Shikaku. Shikaku remained silent, only staring at Tsunade in the head seat, deep in thought.

‘This situation had been anticipated long ago, and it was merely the result of the political maneuvering that had taken place.’

‘Root was gone, completely eradicated. As the saying goes, ‘The dead are gone, so what more can be done?’’

‘However, on the flip side, Hokage-sama’s decisive actions is really shocking. Even though the procedure had been lawful, it was still a highly controversial matter.’

‘There was even the possibility that she might have to resign due to this. If the Godaime Hokage abdicated, the Rokudaime would be... Kakashi?’ Shikaku's eyelids twitched, ‘I should have seen it coming.’

Almost everyone in the Hokage Tower knew that Kakashi had been an intern for the Hokage’s position and had not taken any missions for a long time. Just familiarizing himself with the work of a Hokage had left him exhausted, to the point where he was working overtime every day.

‘You're such a hard worker, Kakashi.’

Shikaku snapped back to reality as the conference room discussion reached its climax. Tsunade and Danzo were 40% and 60% at fault, and the old advisors, Koharu and Homura were holding them accountable.

Tsunade, however, spread her hands in a shameless manner, "What did I do wrong? This was an emergency, so it’s handled accordingly. Does the Anbu not have this little authority?"

"The measures were a bit excessive." Koharu commented.

"Then there’s nothing more to say. I’ll take responsibility and resign." Tsunade said, tossing a document onto the table, almost relieved, and even smiling as she spoke.

"As for the next Hokage… you can find anyone you like."

"Tsunade!!" Danzo could no longer contain himself. This was almost a direct slap in his face, "You planned this all along, didn’t you? The evidence was fabricated by you!"

"You just wanted to drag me down with you!"

"I wouldn’t do that. Danzo-sama, please don’t make baseless accusations." Tsunade showed a disdainful smile on her face, as if to say, ‘What are you going to do about it?’

"At the very least, I’m still the Hokage. I do have that authority. Please show me a little respect."

‘Respect, my ass!’ Danzo was itching to use Kotoamatsukami at this moment. But alas, he was dealing with a shameless Hokage, one without an ounce of dignity, practically a lunatic.

With Root eliminated, Danzo no longer had any power to use. On top of that, he was now plagued by bad luck and had to face the accusation of betraying the village. Even if these matters were eventually brushed aside, Danzo was destined to retire into obscurity.

Downstairs.

"What could they be talking about in there?" Naruto wrinkled his nose at the smell of blood on him, and the temperature around him was getting higher and higher, "I can’t take this anymore. Let’s just leave."

"The meeting should be wrapping up soon. It looks like we’re not needed after all." Yugao withdrew her gaze and nodded in agreement.

"Let's go."

The two of them went back to their respective homes, both wanting to take a bath quickly.

After stepping out of the bathroom, Naruto collapsed on the couch. Kurama had vanished, his whereabouts unknown.

Lying there, staring at the ceiling, Naruto finally relaxed.

In the dimly lit living room, the clock on the wall ticked steadily.

Reflecting on everything that had happened today, Naruto had a vague sense of what had transpired, ‘Tsunade had resigned to take responsibility, and both Danzo and Root had been dealt with.’

‘Along with weakening the powers of the Advisors, Tsunade would use her remaining time in office to eliminate some unstable elements. This was all to ensure that Konoha would be streamlined and prepared to rejuvenate under Kakashi's leadership.’

‘A new beginning.’

With Tsunade stepping down, it meant that Naruto, too, would eventually have to retire from his current role. No longer causing waves within Konoha, his focus would likely shift beyond the village… to a place like the Land of Snow.

But thinking back, it was surprising how quickly time had passed. Six years had gone by in a flash, as if that summer when he was twelve was just yesterday.

Tsunade had reluctantly accepted the role of the Godaime Hokage, pulling Naruto to stand by her side She had told him that his path would always be smooth and that he’d walk through life surrounded by crowds on bustling streets.

Back then, Naruto hadn’t thought much of it. But looking back now, it seemed like Tsunade had really accomplished what she had said. Part of it was due to Naruto’s own efforts, but another part could be attributed to Tsunade.

During her six-year term as Hokage, Naruto’s life had been smooth sailing. It was only near the end that he realized time had passed, and now Tsunade was no longer the Hokage.

‘What would retirement life be like for her? Where would she go? Would she continue traveling, gambling her time away like she had done years ago.’

‘Shizune would probably follow her, but the Medical Department was still short on personnel.’

With random thoughts running through his head, Naruto’s eyelids grew heavier. No matter how much he thought, it felt like something important had ended along with their revenge.
