Chapter 203: March To War!

The time is finally right, as Julius continued his routine of completing paperwork filed by his ministers for the nations various departments, his focus was partially on the [World Map] hovering in his field of view.

The Greccian war had been going on for a number of months now without outside intervention and at the rate the war was going the Spartan’s would lose against the Allied forces.

Their initial counter-attack had been buffetted and now the reinvasion from different points was taking place, the Spartan army true to it’s creed never surrendered and never retreated however even with this their territory was slowly being taken over by their neighbors.

*Knock* *Knock*

"Come in" <Julius>

Having heard the door to his office be knocked on, Julius answered and the door opened.

Into the room filed his upcoming military council.

Yuri Roserun former Princess to the Kingdom of Roserun who had effectively become a vassal state to the Romanus Kingdom.

Merja Haddin Lead Commander of the Romanus legions

Zeff so far his best official fighter save for Julius himself when utilizing his perks

and lastly the commander of his personal Royal Guards the praetorians.

These four would be playing roles in his upcoming conflict with the Greccians.

"Take a seat everyone, for we have things to discuss" <Julius>

Seeing the serious look on their sovereigns face the four hastily took seats on the couches.

A moment of silence passed as Julius had his eyes closed hands tented in a simple finger pyrimid before slowly opening his eyes.

"War has come once again..." <Julius>

The room remained silent at his say so, however The Commander and Yuri both looked the most surprised as they both worked for the Department of War and neither had been informed of any incursions into their territory and as of yet none of the signal beacons had been lit.

"Do not worry, if is not our war... yet, The Greecian penninsula has been embroiled in a hard fought war for the past couple of months and as we speak the Spartan kingdom is at the brink of destruction." <Julius>

All leaned forward to hear his story, how the King obtained this knowledge they knew not but he’d never been wrong before.

And everyone loved to hear tales of the legendary spartans so to hear that these mighty warriors had been cornered was ever the more intriguing.

"They’ve been attacked by a league of their fellow nations who’ve launched a three pronged assault against the spartan kings, and while they’ve held out valiantly their shield has begun to crack under the repeated assault from enemy forces." <Julius>

Having heard this update they collectivly inhaled in a gasp.

"It is my means to set a march to save the failing spartans, and if possible bring them into our ranks to further bolster our military might. As this conflict will be taking place on enemy soil we shall be only taking 2 legions with us to reinforce the Spartan military." <Julius>

"But sire! If it is as you say, a pair of legions will not be enough to prevent their collapse?" <General Haddin>

"I said with us, another 3 legions will also be setting out however they won’t be going with me, but instead with you General." <Julius>

"Me your highness?" <General Haddin>

"That is correct while i shall take 2 legions with me to land and reinforce the Spartan’s by sea, you will take 3 legions and cross the Germanic lands, and invade the Greccians from the north, offer to bring Germanic mercanaries or even volunteers who’d like to serve as an auxilariy force during your march, you do not need to pay them, the promise should only be made that they will get a cut of the spoils but not pay unlike our soldiers." <Julius>

"So you mean to divert their focus then sir? Have all their forces aimed at you for a grand battle meanwhile behind them unbenonst we destroy their supply lines and ambush them or do you mean to have us capture their homelands cutting off the armies retreat entirely?" <General Haddin>

"That would be a two-pronged portion, of the 3 legions you take 2 will be for taking over the enemy territory, mean while the final legion will lead the auxiliaries to raid the supply lines and attack the Greecian allied force from the rear." <Julius>

"Seems like a good plan to me although i still feel you have assigned to few men but we’ll make do like we always do sir" <General Haddin>

"Oh you might as well bring Senior Commander Elheat and his iron cavalry as well, he’s been chomping at the bit recently to showcase his refined forces might." <Julius>

"Now i can say i have no complain my liege" <General Haddin>

"Now as for the Naval force, one legion will be lead by Yuri here, while the other along wth the Praetorians will be lead by myself personally, this time Zeff you will be taking the position as defender of the Realm in my absence." <Julius>

"But! I am your swo..." <Zeff>

The young man rose to his feet attempting to defy the order given before being cut off.

"I am not about to let a soon to be father leave his pregnant wife behind alone! I made a promise to make her happy and i intend not to break that promise, are you going to be the one to make me Zeff?" <Julius>

His knees weak while his own face reddened at the thought of having gotten Miri pregnant Zeff dropped back to his seat.

"It is decided assemble the men, Haddin call together the Western legions and bring a central legion to replace the men you do take, meanwhile we shall be setting sail within the next day or two ourselves." <Julius>

The Grand Duke or rather king by this point proclaimed so and all present rose and offered up a salute before leaving the office to begin their tasks for the war ahead.

11,000 men not even i know if this will be enough reinforcement assuming we can actually convince the spartans to accept our aid in the first place.
