Chapter 80: First Mystic Mechanic Exhibition - Part 3
After Wei Jian, two more disciples came forward to show their invention. But their invention could not be compared with the first three disciples.
Nevertheless, that did not stop Mo Jian and everyone from appreciating their effort. To encourage them, Mo Jian gave each of them five hundred thousand lower-grade spirit stones.
Finally, the last disciple stepped forward. Yan Li wore a confident smile, and in his hand was an artifact with a height of about one meter.
"I’m Yan Li, a core disciple," he introduced himself.
Everyone knew him. Apart from the elders and Mo Jian, he was the most popular disciple in the Mystic Mechanic branch.
"I’m not good at naming, so I haven’t given it a name yet," he said with a straightforward face.
"With the help of Young Master Mo Jian and the inspiration I got from the Sky Spirit Machine, I created this artifact."
Yan Li raised his head and looked at the elders and disciples. "Please watch."
He took out a small card from his spatial pouch. Looking at the card, a gasp escaped from both the elders’ and disciples’ lips.
This was the Mystic Card.
Mo Jian was the first person that introduced the Mystic Card to them over a month ago. However, no one expected Yan Li to have the ability to create like it.
"Like you’ve all guessed, this is a low-grade Mystic Card. Don’t ever compare the Young Master’s card with this," he said seriously.
Even though he was the creator of the machine, this card was all thanks to Mo Jian’s support and advanced knowledge in runes.
With that, he took processed beast skin from his spatial pouch and placed it in the slight opening in the artifact.
This got everyone curious.
’What is he trying to do?’
Mo Jian folded his arms on his chest, watching Yan Li with a light smile on his lips.
Feeling the intense gaze of everyone on his body, Yan Li did not get nervous. He opened a small compartment and placed five spirit stones inside and closed it.
After that, he inserted the Mystic Card into a special compartment.
With that, he switched on the artifact.
Humm!
A light humming sound came from the artifact, and before everyone, a runic pen emerged from a small opening and began moving at a swift pace on the processed beast skin.
"T-This..."
"H-How is this..."
Everyone widened their eyes in disbelief. The artifact’s runic pen moved at breathtaking speed, and the blank processed beast skin was filled with runic lines.
"D-Did it just completely draw a rune?" a female disciple stammered, her eyes filled with disbelief.
Not only her—everyone in the hall had their jaws dropped in stupor.
An artifact that could draw runes—how insane was that?
It was not just insane. It was unheard of.
Yan Li grinned from ear to ear, looking at the dumbfounded expression of everyone in the hall.
He took out the beast skin. He opened his mouth to speak but was beaten to it by Elder Bai Delan.
"C-Can you let me see it?" his voice trembled.
"Yes, Elder."
Receiving the beast skin, Elder Bai Delan brought it closer to his eyes as if trying to confirm his eyes were not playing a joke on him.
For a whole minute, no one spoke, waiting for him to come out of his stupor, but they underestimated how stunned he was.
Finally, Yan Li could only smile bitterly. "Elder, is there anything wrong with it?"
"Ah!" Elder Bai Delan exclaimed, coming out of his rabbit hole. He shook his head, opened his mouth, but the words failed to come out.
"Elder Bai, we need to check if the rune works..." Elder Li Huang reminded from the side.
She could understand how Elder Bai Delan was feeling. Since the start of the exhibition, it was one moment of shock after another.
In her decade of existence, this was the highest time she had been shocked. She was afraid if this were to continue, she might lose her courage as an elder.
Her fragile heart might not be able to endure it any longer.
"You’re right..." Elder Bai Delan nodded and took a deep breath, returning the beast skin to Yan Li.
"Please, move back," Yan Li said to the disciples.
Quickly, all the disciples moved back, their gaze never leaving him. With this, Yan Li sent a small portion of his spiritual energy into the beast skin.
Instantly, the beast skin lit up, and a powerful flame attack erupted from it. The flame attack flew forward at breathtaking speed, hitting the Refining Hall wall.
Boom!
The hall shook slightly, and a deep burn mark appeared on the wall.
’Huhs!’
Everyone sucked in a cold breath, looking at the aftereffects of the attack.
Is this really made from an artifact?
If an artifact could create something as powerful as that, what about them? Won’t they be useless in the long run?
This thought scared the hell out of them.
Oblivious to their thoughts, Yan Li’s face was full of pride. "Young Master, Elders, how is my artifact?"
For a moment, the three elders did not know what to say. Even though Elder Li Huang was an Alchemist Master, that did not lessen the shock.
Yet, this shameless disciple dared ask how his artifact was.
Mo Jian, on the other hand, did not share their sentiment. "Disciple Yan, you really surprised me."
"Hahaha. Young Master, I’m following your lead." Yan Li laughed with a prideful expression on his face.
"Good. I hope you won’t disappoint me." Mo Jian was looking forward to Yan Li’s future ambitions.
The elders and disciples might not know the importance of such an artifact, but how could he not know?
With such an artifact, creating simple runes would be effortless. They can be mass-produced with little to no effort.
With his understanding, the Mystic Card was for different runes. Each card represents different runes.
The only limitation would be the material used in creating the artifact and the Mystic Card. As for the creation of the artifact, it was sophisticated, to say the least.
The runic pen was controlled by mechanical gears.
Creation of such gears would require a lot of calculation and conversion from one energy to another.
"Can it work on metal or jade?" Mo Jian asked.
"Yes, Young Master. I just need to change the pen," Yan Li replied confidently.
Mo Jian shook his head. "That reduces its efficiency. You need to create a different machine for each material. This would allow you to monitor the machine and allow you to upgrade it in the future."
"Apart from that, this would allow you to target the audience that needs it and also increase your income."
"Young Master is right. I’ll follow your advice."
While the two of them were talking, the elders and disciples had recovered from their shock and watched them.
"Disciple Yan, but I need to warn you. This artifact must not be sold anyhow. You must consult me if you want to sell it," Mo Jian said seriously.
"I know, Young Master. I won’t be stupid enough to release it to the public." Yan Li, as a core disciple, knew the ins and outs of the sect.
Thus, he won’t make such a rookie mistake.
"Young Master, can you give the artifact a name?"
Mo Jian paused for a moment before he spoke. "Let’s call it an Automatic Runic Printer."
"Good. Automatic Runic Printer." Yan Li smiled.
"Disciple Yan, like before, I’ll give you one million lower-grade spirit stones. My Thousand Wealth Chamber would be available to you..." Mo Jian paused for a moment.
"Also, I’d like to work with you. What do you think?"
’What!’
Everyone in the hall was stunned. They did not expect Yan Li would receive such an invitation.
"Young Master, I’m honored to work alongside you," Yan Li replied, his heart pounding with excitement.
In the Mystic Mechanic, everyone knew Mo Jian was the founder and the undisputed number one. His knowledge in this field was so vast, they couldn’t imagine it.
Looking at Yan Li, all the disciples were filled with envy. How they wished they were the one invited to work with Mo Jian.
Unbeknownst to them, Mo Jian did not invite Yan Li because he created the Automatic Runic Printer but for his talent.
It was the highest he had ever seen.
[Name: Yan Li.]
[Cultivation: Foundation Realm Stage-3]
[Affinity: Metal and Fire]
[Talent: Engineering (Genius.)]
With such talent, how could he not bring him directly under his wing? With Yan Li, he did not have to worry if his idea could be created or not.
He just had to guide him on the right path and leave the rest to him.
As for whether he could meet up, was the result not before him?
While Mo Jian was lost in thought, Elder Bai Delan stepped forward.
"Young Master, we the three elders have decided to postpone our exhibition. We hope the Young Master won’t be angry."
Mo Jian shook his head. "Don’t worry. Whenever you’re ready for the display, I’ll be waiting."
"Thank you for your understanding."
The elders breathed a sigh of relief. As elders, how could their display be lower than a disciple’s? That would make them lose face.
Therefore, each of them had decided to retreat and work harder on their creations and increase their knowledge.
With the disciples’ display, they realized how complacent they had become. As elders, they looked down on the disciples, but this was a wake-up call.
"Young Master are you also going to postpone your exhibition?" a disciple asked.
"No..." Mo Jian shook his head.
Why would he need to postpone his display?
If he did, wouldn’t it make it as if he was intimidated by Yan Li and the rest?
"Hahaha. Good. I knew the Young Master wouldn’t postpone it."
When the elders heard, they rolled their eyes in shame.
