Chapter 35: A slap in the face!
"What!" The Dust Valley Sect Master stood up from his seat, his expression grave.
"Good! Good." He nodded and returned to his seat.
All the elders wore grave expressions, their faces filled with killing intent.
The Radiant Sect had already tested their limits many times, and this time, it wouldn’t end with a mere skirmish.
They had been holding back because of the Half-step Golden Core in the Radiant Sect, but now, they realized there was no limit to their enemy’s madness.
"Sect Master, what should we do?" an elder demanded, his eyes bloodshot with fury.
Hundreds of disciples had been lost to the Radiant Sect’s madness. If they did not retaliate, the deaths of those innocent disciples would be in vain.
"Start the plan," the Sect Master commanded coldly.
When the elders heard ’Start the Plan,’ their expressions changed. This was not merely a simple plan, but a contingency measure for when things reached a breaking point.
Even though the elders were shocked, no one dared to voice opposition to the Sect Master’s order.
Swiftly, the sect sprang into action. With this plan, the Western Region was bound to change forever.
Meanwhile, inside the Radiant Sect, the Sect Master was having a discussion with his elders.
"How did the Dust Valley Sect react?" the Sect Master asked with a light smile.
"Hahaha! Sect Master, they did nothing," an elder laughed in satisfaction.
With the continuous progress of the Dust Valley Sect, it was only a matter of time before they surpassed them.
Soon, the pressure from their ancestors would no longer be effective.
"Tsk! What could those spineless bastards do against us?" another elder scoffed, his face filled with ridicule.
Supreme Elder Wen wore an unsightly expression as she watched the elders mock the Dust Valley Sect.
Without their ancestor—who was already a step away from the grave—their sect had nothing to be proud of.
In terms of overall strength, they were even weaker than the Dust Valley Sect.
Apart from that, the Dust Valley Sect was developing in other areas. First, there was the trending Spirit Link, which all noble clans were desperately trying to obtain.
Now, the Blood Fury Arena was equally as popular as the Spirit Link.
And here they were, celebrating the destruction of a few mines owned by the Dust Valley Sect.
With the massive income the Dust Valley Sect earned daily, could such a small loss pose a threat to them?
She sighed, already knowing the answer. Looking at the ignorant elders, she decided to warn them.
"The Dust Valley Sect will surely retaliate. Now is not the time for arrogance but caution."
When everyone heard this, deep frowns appeared on their faces as they turned to the Sect Master.
Since Elder Wen was a Supreme Elder, her words could not be disregarded.
"Elder Wen, you worry too much. The Dust Valley Sect can do nothing to us," an old frail man responded. He was also a Supreme Elder.
"True. What could those bastards possibly do unless they want their sect to be flattened?" a young elder said confidently.
The Sect Master looked at the Supreme Elder and said confidently, "Elder Wen, I’ve got everything under control. This is just the beginning of their destruction."
"Now, we should focus on how to break the rising fame of the Blood Fury Arena."
All the elders nodded, preparing to hatch a plan to destroy the Blood Fury Arena.
Suddenly, a female elder furrowed her brow and left the hall. Seeing her departure, the other elders frowned in confusion. Why would she leave without saying anything?
A deep frown appeared on the Sect Master’s and Supreme Elder’s faces.
Moments later, the female elder returned, her expression grave.
"Sect Master, I just received news from our spies," she said slowly. "Three of the most powerful clans in our region have partnered with the Dust Valley Sect to create the Spirit Link."
"What!"
All the elders widened their eyes in disbelief. How did this happen?
Bang!
The Sect Master slammed the armrest in fury. "Those rats!"
"We can’t allow this! We need to stop them immediately!" the withered Supreme Elder said in a grave tone.
If they allowed the Spirit Link to spread in their region, they could imagine the consequences.
"Send our men to warn them. If they dare to create the Spirit Link, their clans will be destroyed!" the Sect Master commanded in a grave voice.
After he finished speaking, the female elder shook her head and announced, "The three clans have threatened to leave our region if they are attacked or intimidated."
"They have spread the news throughout the region, and everyone is waiting for our response."
"This...!"
All the furious elders sucked in a cold breath as their fake righteous anger faded.
They might be the overlords of the region, but the people still mattered.
Without the mortal clans, how could their sect exist?
It was a symbiotic relationship.
The mortals depended on them for protection, while they depended on the mortals for resources like food and drinks.
Apart from that, they relied on them for fresh talent.
Thus, they knew they needed to weigh their actions carefully.
For a moment, no one spoke, struggling to grapple with the sudden turn of events.
Just minutes ago, they had been bragging that the Dust Valley Sect could not retaliate. And yet, they had just been slapped in the face.
Their expressions turned from blue to green. The Sect Master gripped the armrest tightly, ready to shatter it to pieces.
’Those bastards! Everything was going according to plan. How could they try to sabotage us now?’
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. A mere clan dared to threaten them?
He would not accept it.
"Send our men to secretly monitor them and find out who their refining master is. Once identified, they should be kidnapped."
Unbeknownst to them, vengeful spirits were running amok.
With the continuous killings by the Dust Valley Sect and warriors from the Blood Fury Arena, the vengeful spirits had become restless.
Avoiding the areas belonging to the Dust Valley Sect, they turned their sights on an opposite outpost—the Radiant Sect’s outpost.
Filled with rage, they headed toward their new target.
