Chapter 182: Three Projects
Chapter 182: Three Projects
Inside the Thousand Wealth Chamber, the various clan masters sat with pensive expressions.
The only exception was the Xu clan matriarch. She relaxed in her seat, sipping what was served to her.
"Matriarch Xu, you look relaxed," the clan master of the Fang clan asked curiously.
"What do you expect? We’re here to meet the Young Master, not to go to war," she replied without looking at him.
Listening to her response, the Fang clan master and other clan masters were stunned.
Although they were not going to war, that does not mean this meeting was not as important as going to war.
Any slight displeasure from the Young Master could be the end of their clan.
How could she not know this?
Of course, she knew this, but her clan was different. She was not here to flatter the Young Master, hoping to get on his good side.
She was already on his good side.
Suddenly, a female attendant entered the room. "Sir, Ma, the Young Master has arrived and he’s ready to see you all," she announced.
"Please follow me," she added.
Without waiting for them, she turned and left the room.
Quickly, they followed her, their hearts pounding heavily against their chests like a war drum.
Especially the Bai clan; their clan master held his breath as if he was about to die.
The female attendant led them into a large conference room with a big wooden table surrounded by chairs.
Mo Jian was already seated at the main seat, watching as the clan masters trooped in.
"Young Master..." they called in both shock and nervousness.
"Please, take your seats," Mo Jian said, pointing to the empty seat.
Quickly, each of them took their seats. Before anyone could react, the Xu clan matriarch stepped forward.
"Young Master, for your safety, return this. Please manage this five-hundred-year-old ginseng," she announced, presenting the exquisite jade box.
"Thank you, Matriarch Xu," Mo Jian responded, accepting the gift.
With Mo Jian accepting it, a rare smile crept up her face as she returned to her seat.
Seeing this, all the clan masters felt a cold shiver run down their spines, and they trembled.
How could they forget to bring a gift for the Young Master?
The Fang clan master opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out.
The Bai clan master felt as if the land should open up and swallow him.
He was here to ask for a favor, and yet, he had forgotten about proper etiquette.
"Young Master, my clan also wanted to give you a gift, but we can’t carry it. So, I can only tell you," the Lei clan master said quickly.
"Oh? Tell me," Mo Jian turned his head, looking at the shrewd Lei clan master.
"Last month, we discovered a deep mine and didn’t know what type of ore it contained. So, we decided to give it to you as a gift. We believe the Young Master must know the ore," he said with a bright smile.
Of course, Mo Jian knew about the newly discovered mine. It was full of Pulse Stone.
With his current strength, there was nothing happening in the capital that he wasn’t aware of.
Even inside the Radiant Sect, they had closed down their gate. He had spies inside.
"Clan Master Lei, thank you for your generosity," Mo Jian responded with a light smile.
His gaze wandered to the other clan masters, but each of them was averting their gaze.
Seeing this, Mo Jian couldn’t help but chuckle. He knew why they were here but didn’t care about their little schemes.
"So, tell me, why do you want to see me?" he asked with a smile that was no smile.
Silence!
The conference was as quiet as a graveyard. Most had come expecting to benefit from the rapidly expanding Thousand Wealth Chamber.
Some even thought they could use this chance to expand their influence into the Southern Region. But now...
They were silent.
Even the Lei clan master wore an ugly expression. He knew things weren’t going according to plan.
Asking for a favor or help right now might cause irreversible damage he was not willing to risk.
Watching the quiet clan leaders, Mo Jian showed no change in his expression.
"How many of you have a football club?"
Hmm?
The clan leaders were stunned for a moment, then a sunny smile crept across their faces.
Quickly, they all raised their hands, announcing they had football clubs—except for the Bai clan.
With their current clan situation, how could they possibly create a football club?
Under the gazes fixed on him, the Bai clan master could only lower his head in shame.
They had once been among the top clans in the region, but now... they were struggling on the brink of bankruptcy — all for greed.
Mo Jian looked at those who had teams and nodded. "Good. Keep it up. I’ll be watching how you handle your clubs."
When they heard this, they knew it was a subtle hint. A hint there was more to the club’s football that met the eyes.
Perhaps, there was an opportunity they were yet to know.
Changing the subject, Mo Jian wore a solemn expression. "My chamber has many projects at hand, and I wonder who among you can handle them."
Instantly, all the clan leaders straightened their backs, their expressions turning serious.
"Before I continue, let me give a warning..." his voice sent a chill down their spines.
"If you fail to execute this project correctly, your clan can forget about existing in the Western Region anymore."
Huh!
The clan leaders inhaled a cold breath, some wiping sweat from their palms.
"Do you understand?"
"Yes, Young Master," they replied in unison.
Any project that could threaten the destruction of their clan was no small matter.
So how could they let such a golden opportunity slip away out of fear of failure?
"Good," Mo Jian nodded. "There are three projects. First, tunnel creation throughout the Western Region. Second, forging massive metal pipes, and third, exploration."
