Chapter 172: Skytrack Runner
Chapter 172: Skytrack Runner
Deep in the underground, Elder Bai Delan and the Dust Valley Sect instructors and disciples were working seriously.
"Elder Bai, how did the Young Master come up with this miraculous idea?" a young instructor asked, his voice filled with admiration.
"How would I know? I’ve been asking myself the same question but with no answer," Elder Bai responded.
The fame of Mo Jian’s extraordinariness had spread throughout the sect, but compared to watching and hearing him speak—
The news and fame seemed to pale compared to him.
His train of thought was different from everyone else. What they thought would be impossible seemed like nothing to him.
A monster in human clothing.
His knowledge in runes and formation was out of this world.
Looking at the strange artifact a couple of meters from them, the instructors sighed in admiration once again.
They speculated Mo Jian’s current rank in runes and formation. No one could come up with the right rank.
How should they rank him?
In the aspect of traditional runes, he had long surpassed Tier-3—and for Mystic Mechanic...
He was the sage. Who would dare rank the sage?
"Are you done with the last repel runes?" Elder Bai’s voice cut through the instructor’s thoughts.
"A-h.. Yes. I’m done with it," he responded quickly, coming out of his thoughts.
"Then, what are you waiting for? Go fix it," Elder Bai commanded sharply.
Just then, Mo Jian walked toward them. When Elder Bai and the others saw him, they all wore a bright smile.
"Young Master, you’ve come out of your seclusion," Elder Bai welcomed him with a bright smile.
Mo Jian smiled. "Yes, Elder Bai. How is the project? I hope you do not push yourself too hard."
"Too hard? Nonsense. Please, let me show you. We’re almost done. We’re fixing the last part and doing the final check."
Mo Jian followed, his eyes locked on the sleek carriage in the distance.
It was painted in silver.
Its long, sharp nose was like a giant sleeping beast. He moved his eyes from the Mystic Train and looked at the track.
The track was made from Blackiron Ore with magnets embedded.
Every few meters were Levitate Runes to assist the magnets to produce optimal levitation.
Since the completion of the underground, the construction of the tracks had long begun.
Blackiron Ore and magnet were common in the Southern Region. Especially for the magnet, it was just pieces of useless ore.
Arriving beside the train, Mo Jian reached out his hand to touch the sleek and beautiful train.
He was pleased with what he saw. Since he had been in seclusion, he did not see the finished product of the train.
Since he trusted both Elder Bai and Zhao Tian to monitor the production of the train’s parts, he did not worry.
And indeed, his trust was not misplaced.
The door automatically skidded to the side and they entered.
Behind him, the instructors and disciples also entered. Since they created the artifact, they did not have a chance to test and enjoy their creation.
Inside, there were rows of chairs made from thick, durable leather.
The form was sturdy enough to withstand people’s weight without feeling uncomfortable.
The seats were in two rows; the center served as a passage for users.
Small Moon Orbs were installed at the ceiling, providing bright lights.
Although they were underground, the Moon Orbs brightened everywhere like it was daylight.
Moving from carriage to another, everything was meticulously made.
"Young Master, we do not disappoint, right?" Elder Bai teased.
"It is good I called you. This is a job well done," Mo Jian did not mince his praise. "I can’t do better than this."
Finally, they reached the control center. Unlike a traditional train, this did not have any controller or complicated buttons.
The dashboard glowed with blue lights.
Everything on the train was controlled by runes.
Since he was the designer, he knew everything about the train both in and out.
To control the train, the live runes must be activated. The live rune activated repel runes which made the train levitate.
The Repel Runes worked against the magnetic while the Levitate Rune supported for maximum efficiency.
Before going into seclusion, they ran many tests using these two runes. And it did not disappoint.
Previously, Mo Jian only used magnets and Repel Runes for train levitation.
But the result was lackluster. For the train to levitate to optimal height, it would consume a lot of energy—spirit stones.
Thus, both he and Elder Bai came up with the Levitate Rune.
With the Levitate Rune, it was perfect.
The train would glide smoothly.
Apart from the Repel and Levitate Rune, the Pulse Runes and Flow Rune were other important runes.
The Pulse Runes served as a thrust for the engine, while the Flow Rune maintained energy flow like a closed circuit.
Lastly were the Direction Runes, Stabilized Runes, and the Brake Runes.
The Direction Runes maintained control of the train’s direction, while the Stabilized Runes prevented the train from tilting, and the Brake Rune worked with the Pulse Rune and Flow.
It reduced the thrust gradually while also reducing the flow of energy all at once.
To complete the train, Mo Jian had to use three major ores.
The Brightcopper for the Repel Runes, which was underneath the train.
Redsteel Ore for Direction Runes, and Mystic Silver Ore served as the bridge.
Since everything depended on runes, there can’t be a break in the rune connection.
Thus, the Mystic Silver prevented this.
"Is it ready to move?" Mo Jian asked, looking at Elder Bai.
"It is," Elder Bai responded. He turned his head and looked at the instructors.
"How is the final check?"
"Elder Bai, we’re good to go. There is no problem," a female instructor responded.
"Young Master, you should do the honor," Elder Bai pointed at the control station.
Mo Jian shook his head. "I can’t. This is your hard work. You should be the first person to control it. Besides, I don’t know how to operate it."
When Elder Bai heard this, he wanted to refuse but decided against it.
As for the excuse that he couldn’t operate it—It was total nonsense.
"Fine. This old man will not refuse. It’s my honor to control such a powerful artifact," he said and walked to the control board.
Mo Jian looked at the instructors and disciples. "Why don’t you return to the passenger seat? From there, you can enjoy the ride."
"Ah! Yes. We should take our seats."
Quickly, the group dispersed, rushing to take their seats. Their hearts pounded with excitement.
Standing beside Elder Bai, Mo Jian watched.
Slowly, Elder Bai sent his spiritual energy to the Live Rune. Instantly, the train came to life and it levitated on the track.
Next, he moved to the Pulse Rune. With the Pulse Rune activated, the train began to move.
At first, it was slow, but gradually, its speed began to increase.
Finally, the train accelerated so fast that it was impossible for the eyes to see.
In a blink, they left the capital, shooting like a comet toward Wuyu City.
Mo Jian watched the blurry scene outside, and a bright smile crept up his face.
For the disciples and instructors, they could not believe their eyes. Their jaws dropped to the ground.
