Chapter 144: Realization.
Over the Southern Region, a heavy tension blanketed the air. Every city hosting a branch of the Thousand Wealth Chamber had been fiercely attacked.
Fear and chaos spread rapidly as the relentless assaults signaled a rising threat.
Initially, many thought it was a one-time event, but they were wrong. The attacks continued relentlessly.
Yet, that wasn’t the worst part, something that shocked the whole Southern Region.
Despite the relentless attack, the Thousand Wealth Chamber branch never suffered a single defeat.
No matter what the enemies hurled at them, they always overcame with ease.
When the enemies raised the bar, they responded by raising theirs even higher, as if born for battle.
Nothing about them resembled a merchant chamber; their warriors reeked of blood–thick and suffocating enough to choke an entire city.
Their ruthless resilience and savage strength betrayed no hint of commerce, only feral combat readiness and unyielding brutality.
For a whole week of assaults, the enemies were tired and scared. They had almost lost all their men.
Even a fool could sense there was something scary about the Thousand Wealth Chamber.
Capital.
Inside the Thousand Wealth Chamber, Mo Jian sat calmly on his seat while drinking his tea. Before him were the reports on all the various attacks on his chamber.
Reading through the report, his expression did not change. He was already prepared for this. With the support of the three sects, how could anyone defeat him?
Just because they did not defeat him doesn’t mean he wasn’t furious. He was, but he was just biding his time.
His plan was to catch all the enemies in one clean swoop.
Suddenly, he heard a chime in his mind.
[New Mission]
[Objectives (1): Your Influence and Prestige are being challenged. Kill all your enemies without mercy.]
[Objectives (2): Use this avenue to set an unprecedented legacy in the Southern Region.]
[Objectives (3): Although you’ve increased your influence, you forget about the most important thing–People’s Mind. Create a venue where others would not be able to use moral high ground against you. Control what people know and learn.]
[Objectives (4): Gain people’s trust both in the Southern Region and Western Region through inventing what they need for daily to daily activities.]
[Time: For the first 2 objectives you have 3 days, others–1 month.]
[Rewards: Hidden]
[Penalty: Hidden]
Looking at the rows of new missions, Mo Jian sucked in a cold breath. He had been thinking the system wouldn’t give him any mission again, but he was wrong.
Without turning point events, the system would not bother him by giving him mundane missions.
He took a deep breath and read the mission carefully. The first two missions were quite easy for him, but the last two. He creased his brow and was lost in thought.
’The system was right.’ He thought. ’My enemies label me as an evil force because their influence was greater than me among the people. They have existed for many years and many people trust them.’
’But what about me? What did I have?’
Although the Thousand Wealth Chamber had many legendary artifacts, could they be compared with these giants in the heart of the people?
Without verifying the truth, just because they were labeled an evil force, almost everyone in the capital believed it.
Words have the power to change hearts overnight or to shatter them forever.
For ten minutes, he was lost in deep thought. This weakness, he must eradicate it once and for all.
"Now, I know what to do." A look of realization appeared on his face.
He had been naive previously that people would not turn against him, but now. He was taught the cold hard lesson.
This was not the Western Region where the Dust Valley Sect had laid the foundation of the trust for him. Here, he needed to do everything from scratch without believing in other people.
Greed is inherent in every human heart, unless he knows how to control it. He wouldn’t have an easy time.
"After I destroy all my enemies, I must create a media house." He muttered.
What was the best method to control people’s minds if not through the media? Although the concept was foreign in this world, the announcements from the various forces could also serve as media.
"I’ll start with newspapers," he mused, tapping them twice.
Creating a printing machine with his current knowledge would be quite easy. He just needed proper planning, and it would be done.
Just then, he heard a low knock on the door.
"Come in," he said.
Creak!
The door was pushed open and Elder Xu Bin entered carrying a middle-sized box made from ordinary wood.
"Young Master, the artifact has arrived," she said respectfully.
"Ah! Good. Let’s see." A light smile appeared on his face.
"Yes, Young Master."
She placed the middle-sized box on the ground and took the item inside it out. The item was shining brightly, painted in black and yellow stripes around the edge.
Elder Xu was confused. ’What has the Young Master created this time?’ she thought without any change in her expression.
Mo Jian stood from his seat and examined the artifact while nodding. ’Yan Li’s runes and artifact refinement have increased a lot.’
Now, he did not need to bother himself with simple artifacts. He just needed to give the ideas to Yan Li and the others for them to create it.
"We need to test it. Besides, this is the highest grade," he said, looking at Elder Xu Bin.
"Yes, Young Master. Young Master Yan said that as long as this works, others would work perfectly."
"Ah, he’s right. Good, let’s test it. Where is the other part?"
"Here."
Elder Xu quickly brought the other part from her spatial pouch and began to arrange it. In a couple of seconds, everything was ready.
Mo Jian sat behind the artifact and switched it on by pressing the small button. A low humming sound came from it.
His smile deepened and he took a piece of cloth from his spatial pouch and placed it under the three thin needles.
When he pressed the pedal, the artifact came to life and the needles moved up and down so quickly that it was impossible for the eyes to follow.
Elder Xu Bin was stunned watching the needles moving at breathtaking speed while the threads moved through the artifact and appeared on the cloth.
In a blink, Mo Jian sewed a portion of the cloth.
"Hahaha. This is much better than I expected." Mo Jian laughed and stopped the artifact.
"What do you think?" He looked at the stunned Elder Xu Bin.
"This is a Runic Sewing Machine."
Runic Sewing Machine! she exclaimed in her mind.
With this, it would be damn easy sewing clothes. But why did the Young Master create it?
As if sensing her thoughts, Mo Jian spoke.
"This is for the Sky Light Caterpillar."
Ah!
A look of realization appeared on her face. She knew the Young Master would not create such an artifact without genuine reason.
Just then, a knock came from the door and a middle-aged man entered.
"Young Master, you’ve been invited to the Dong clan master’s birthday," the man said and gave him the invitation card.
"Huh." He took the card, and a knowing smile appeared on his face.
’This is getting more interesting.’
