Chapter 140: Increasing The Pressure!
Chapter 140: Increasing The Pressure!
For the following days, the tension in the capital continued to rise. The moral pressure mounted heavily on the Thousand Wealth Chamber.
Every force in the capital and Wuyu city had their eyes on the Thousand Wealth Chamber.
How would they react? When would they break?
But to everyone’s shock, the Thousand Wealth Chamber continued as if they were not being morally attacked.
This confused everyone. How could they be quiet? At the very least, they needed to come out and clear the air.
Do they not know the impact of being labeled an evil sect chamber?
Inside the Jade River Exchange, all their elders sat with solemn expressions. They all realized they had underestimated the courage of the Thousand Wealth Chamber.
"We need to become more active," an elder suggested.
"Agreed. If we continue like this, it’s only a matter of time before the people lose interest," another elder added.
The Jade River Exchange master tapped the table twice, his expression unreadable.
"We need to increase the heat," he began, his voice low, but everyone could feel the sharpness.
"Tell others to make an announcement. Cut all interactions with the Thousand Wealth Chamber. Also, we must pressure the Governor to take a stand. His silence speaks volumes about his stance, and we don’t want that."
"Apart from that, start attacking their chamber in other cities." He paused for a moment. "Let’s see how they react to this." He concluded.
When the elders heard this, a bright smile appeared on their faces. As long as they could deal with the Thousand Wealth Chamber as quickly as possible.
Their secret would belong to them.
Just thinking of it made their blood surge with excitement and greed.
Unbeknownst to them, the Thousand Wealth Chamber was already ten steps ahead of them.
Quickly, they sent the order to every force that had joined the alliance. One after the other, various news began to spread throughout the capital.
The Artifact Refining Hall had banned everyone from associating with the Thousand Wealth Chamber.
After them, the Runic Inscription Hall made their announcement.
Various smaller clans and merchants also made their announcements. Anyone caught associating with the Thousand Wealth Chamber would be their enemies, and they wouldn’t trade with them.
This was a powerful statement. In the capital, these were forces that controlled the market. Without them, how could any common mortal hope to survive?
Immediately, the capital was surging with activity.
Rumors spread like wildfire.
The tension thickened, and everyone could feel the impending doom of the Thousand Wealth Chamber.
Just when everyone thought the announcement was over, three of the top clans made their own announcements.
They blamed the Governor for permitting such an evil chamber to exist in the capital.
They demanded he destroy the Thousand Wealth Chamber; otherwise, they accused him of colluding with the evil sect.
The announcement shocked everyone in the capital.
People whispered among themselves, bewildered by the boldness of the clans’ challenge.
Many wondered where the three clans found the courage to confront the powerful Governor.
Tension filled the air as fear and suspicion spread throughout the city.
Inside the Governor’s mansion, the butler looked at the Governor.
"My Lord, these clans have gone beyond their boundaries. I think it’s time to teach them some lessons."
"I agree with him; we should not allow these bastards to soil the name of our clan," the Governor’s wife entered the courtyard.
The Governor shook his head and smiled. "They’re nothing. I don’t need to care about them."
In his current realm, if mere words could shock his heart, he wouldn’t have been able to attain his current position.
"Let them continue..." He looked at his wife and butler. "Are you not curious why the Thousand Wealth Chamber has not responded to all their threats?"
"What response do we need? Those fools are cowards. They’re hiding in their chamber like tortoises," his wife responded, her face filled with disdain.
If they had responded to those claims, her husband’s name would not be dragged into the mud.
The Governor shook his head, "Don’t direct your anger at them. Even without them, this would have happened."
She wanted to respond but had nothing to say. She knew her husband was right.
Those clans had been scheming against their clan for as long as she could remember.
"My Lord, are you saying the Thousand Wealth Chamber deliberately kept quiet about everything, not because they were scared?" the butler asked.
"Of course. Do you think such a force would cower in fear because of what others say about them?"
"I don’t know what they are planning, but it will be sinister, and those fools won’t be ready."
The Governor’s wife and the butler widened their mouths in disbelief.
If this were to come to pass, they would have to be wary of the Thousand Wealth Chamber.
At the Thousand Wealth Chamber, the situation was neither silent nor grave as everyone imagined it to be.
Everyone was working diligently. As for the chaos outside the chamber, no one cared.
Inside Mo Jian’s office, Zhao Tian stood to the side, looking at the middle-aged man seated on the couch. He was enjoying the Spirit Tea.
He was the Mad Lion, the leader of the Mad Lion Mercenary team in Purple Stone City.
After the destruction of his team and family, he was saved by the Thousand Wealth Chamber.
At first, he refused, as he couldn’t rest in peace without avenging his fallen men.
But when he found that the Wailing Bell Sect had been destroyed, there was nothing holding him back, and he joined the Thousand Wealth Chamber.
Since he joined the Thousand Wealth Chamber, Mo Jian had given him only one mission.
Find the Sky Light Caterpillar.
From his experience of hunting beasts, this was not difficult. With that, he set out with his new team.
Unfortunately, the Sky Light Caterpillar was not easy to find.
For close to two months, Mad Lion and his team moved from one forest to another, searching for any traces of the Sky Light Caterpillar.
Mo Jian had already given up on finding the Sky Light Caterpillar in the Southern Region, but now...
"So, did you find it?" Mo Jian asked, his voice filled with excitement and anticipation.
"Young Master, I gave you my word. Without finding the Sky Light Caterpillar, this lion would not return, and here I am." Mad Lion replied, his voice filled with pride.
