Chapter 117: Destruction of the Wailing Bell Sect - Part 2

Deep in a forest shrouded in an eternal mist, the roars and howls of fearsome beasts echoed through the trees like a symphony of nightmares.

The thick, suffocating fog never lifted, cloaking the terrain in a grayish veil that even seasoned cultivators found disorienting.

No paths were clear, and the forest itself seemed alive, reshaping to mislead outsiders.

In the Southern Region, this place was known as the Death Mist Grove—an area so dangerous that even the bravest avoided it.

Yet amid this peril lay the hidden lair of the notorious Wailing Bell Sect.

Cultivators practicing evil techniques and soul manipulation made this their safe haven.

To escape the eyes of justice, they had made their home within this lethal forest, letting the mist and monstrous fauna act as natural guardians.

Few ever returned from a walk into their forest—and fewer still with their minds intact.

Inside the Wailing Bell Sect’s grand hall, several elders sat in heavy silence.

Each figure exuded murderous intent so thick it seemed to taint the air itself.

The stench of old blood clung to their robes and skin like a curse.

Around their wrists hung their iconic artifacts—the Wailing Bells.

Each bell was different: jagged, rusted, or eerily polished. When they moved, a soft keening whisper escaped the bells.

The sound was faint, yet laced with sorrow and madness, enough to make weaker souls fall into hysteria.

"What is taking Elder Kai so long?" an old elder in a bloody red robe asked with a deep frown on his face.

"Do you think he discovered something good that he did not want to return to the Sect immediately?" a middle-aged woman asked, dressed in a loosely purple robe.

"Humph! He won’t dare keep everything for himself. If he does not return by tomorrow, I’ll go and fetch him," another elder said in a loud, confident voice.

All the elders looked at him and sneered. How could they not know what was going on in his mind?

"You don’t have to go. By tomorrow, if we do not hear from him, we should send a message to the Long Clan," the woman retorted with a sneer.

"Humph!..."

Before he could respond to her, the Sect Master rose to his feet with a solemn expression.

Watching their calm, indifferent Sect Master, all the elders wore a look of confusion.

What could make the Sect Master have such an expression? they thought and rose to their feet.

Even though they did not know what was going on, as evil cultivators, they were always mentally prepared for the worst.

"Sect–"

Boom!

The Wailing Bell Sect shook to the core, and even the weaker buildings were destroyed from the aftershock.

"What is going on?"

"Who is attacking our Sect?"

The disciples rushed out from their rooms with fear and confusion etched on their faces.

To the disciples, this was the first time the Wailing Bell Sect had been attacked.

Apart from the monstrous beasts in the forest, many people would find it difficult to find the location of their Sect.

Quickly, fear and panic spread throughout the Sect. Many believed this was an attack from a powerful beast which activated the Sect’s defensive formation.

Apart from the defensive, the Wailing Bell Sect had the Concealing Array Formation, a Low Tier-2 Formation.

The Sect Master and elders rushed out of the grand hall and raised their heads.

While the disciples thought this was an attack from a powerful beast, they knew that was not the case.

"Sect Master, what should we do?" the old man in a bloody red robe asked.

Boom!

Before the Sect Master could respond, the defensive formation protecting the Sect shattered to pieces.

Standing above the Wailing Bell Sect was a middle-aged man glaring at them as if they were already dead.

The thick, strong aura emanating from his body made everyone inside the Sect feel a huge pressure pressing down on their backs.

"T-This... A Golden Core..." the indifferent Sect Master stammered, his heart skipping a beat.

He might be cruel and bloodthirsty, but against such a powerful expert, a Half-Step Golden Core Cultivator was nothing but a bigger ant.

"What a trashy place," Supreme Elder Zhao muttered, his voice dripping with disdain.

Everyone thought the Western Region was the poorest region on the continent, known as the desolate land.

Compared to the Wailing Bell Sect, the Dust Valley Sect was a haven.

Every corner of the Sect reeked of blood, with various heart-rending screams coming from every nook and cranny of the Sect.

How could humans treat their fellow humans like this? he wondered.

He had seen his fair share of humanity’s dark side but compared it to the evilness of the Wailing Bell Sect.

Just listening to the wails of young children made his blood boil in anger.

"These damn bastards!" he growled, veins protruding on his forehead.

Previously, he had prepared to destroy the Sect without killing the weaker disciples, but now he changed his mind.

None of them were any good—both old and young.

They were nothing but beasts in human form.

With his anger rising, the Sect Master, elders, and disciples felt an impending doom.

"M-My Lord..." the Sect Master did not complete his statement when a powerful palm strike that almost covered the Wailing Bell Sect descended.

Watching the horrifying palm strike, the weaker disciples fell on their butts, trembling in fear.

The elders felt their spines drenched in cold sweat and, without hesitating, tried to escape with all possible speed.

Boom!

The ground trembled and a thick cloud of dust rose to the sky. Powerful shockwaves spread everywhere, destroying everything in their path.

On the training ground, a massive palm print appeared. From the print, blood seeped out with shattered bones and crushed organs.

The buildings flattened to level ground.

This was horror anyone from the Wailing Bell Sect had never imagined could happen to them.

Those that were lucky to escape the palm strike did not look back and rushed to escape.

No one cared about the Sect. Right now, their safety was their top priority.

Standing in the sky, Supreme Elder Zhao looked at the disciples that were trying to escape but chose to ignore them for now.

He turned his head and looked in a particular direction.

"Humph! Do you think you can escape from me?" he snorted and disappeared from his spot.

Behind the Wailing Bell Sect, the Sect Master was covered in blood as he used a forbidden technique to increase his speed.

Against a Golden Core Expert, normal speed could not escape from their perception.

Though the forbidden technique used consumed his lifespan and ability to break through to the Golden Core realm in the future,

as long as he survived, he did not care.

"What bad luck?" he mused, pushing his speed to the limit. "Why would such an expert attack us?"

He wondered out loud but did not reduce his speed. Suddenly, all the hairs on his body stood straight and a primal fear erupted from the depth of his soul.

’Danger!’ he screamed inwardly.

Decisively, he turned and shook his Wailing Bell.

Instantly, the quiet mist was filled with miserable, soul-rending cries of both young and old people.

Just listening to it would make anyone fall into the hysteric cries of the innocent lost souls.

Bang!

"Humph!"

A cold snort came from behind and the various miserable screams shattered to pieces and vanished.

Ahhhh!

The Sect Master did not expect his Wailing Bell artifact to last a second against the Golden Core expert before a powerful fist rammed into his chest.

His ribs were pulverized and all his organs turned into puddles of blood as he was sent flying into the distance.

He crashed heavily into a massive tree, blood gushing out from his major orifices.

Supreme Elder Zhao arrived before him with a disdainful expression and left.

He did not bother to dirty his hands killing the Wailing Bell Sect Master. To him, the current Sect Master was nothing but a meal for the beasts.

Indeed, as he left, the deep growls of the beasts came from the depths of the forest when they sensed the fresh blood scent.

With their Sect Master out of the way, Supreme Elder Zhao hunted the elders and disciples one after the other.

No matter how much they tried to escape, none of them could escape from a Golden Core Expert’s perception.

Ten minutes later, the previous Wailing Bell Sect was in ruins and was covered in blood.

Shattered and scattered bones everywhere.

None of the evil cultivators had a complete corpse.

Looking at the destruction, Supreme Elder Zhao breathed a sigh of relief and departed.

....

....

Purple Stone City.

Inside the Thousand Wealth Chamber, Mo Jian was cultivating when he received a notification on his Spirit Link.

Opening his eyes, he took his Spirit Link and read the message.

"Huh! So, Supreme Elder Zhao has become a Golden Core Expert," he mused, and a light smile appeared on his face.

Apart from his parents, there were Elder Bai Delan and Supreme Elder Zhao that had become Golden Core Experts.

Not only that, Supreme Elder Sun was already in close cultivation trying to break through to the Golden Core realm.

As long as Supreme Elder Sun becomes a Golden Core Expert, their Dust Valley Sect would have five Golden Core Experts.

With such a lineup, how many Sects or clans could boast of such powerful experts?

"Now the Wailing Bell Sect has been dealt with. It is time to leave the Purple Stone City," he muttered.

His plan was to spend two weeks in the Purple Stone City before he moved to the next city, but the appearance of the Wailing Bell Sect had delayed his departure.

But now, he could proceed according to his plan.

"I’m close to a breakthrough. I’ll break through to Stage-8 before we depart," he mused and resumed his cultivation.
