I'm the Villainess in the Apocalypse -
Chapter 78. Chaos
Chapter 78: 78. Chaos
"This... it’s fine to stay here for now right?"
"Do we have to go?"
"I’m feeling tired, shall I start shooting?" Anna interrupted their questioning and asked Dylan.
"Just shot that window first."
"Ok."
"Don’t..."
Bang!
The window was shattered and strong winds and water came from outside towards these people. In just a few seconds, they were completely wet due to the water from outside.
"Why can’t you listen?" One of them was annoyed.
"Why should I listen?" Anna asked back. "You all come here to rob and steal house, so I should be polite to you and let you take advantage of me? Do you think I’m so stupid that I’ll let you achieve your goal?"
"This..."
They looked at each other.
Even though they wanted to go from here and not facing the threat of Anna, the sound of gunshots from below hadn’t stopped. Not only the gunshot, the screams and yells hadn’t stopped either.
There were even cries.
One of them suddenly moved behind another person and then a gun was pointed from behind his friends.
It seemed that he was going to use his friends as shield.
But...
Bang!
The bullet reached his forehead right beside the friend’s head.
The man fell down to the back and Anna shot towards the gun. Without the support of the man’s hand, it flew straight to the stairs and fell down rapidly along with the sound of metal hitting metals.
"KYAaaaaaaaaaa!"
"Aaaaaaa!"
The friend crouched down in fear and touched the side of his face. He was relieved when he didn’t see any blood or anything like that. But looking at his dead friend behind him, he felt really cold.
"Want to play another trick?" Anna asked again. "In terms of shooting speed, I should be better than most of you. Also, even if you’re completely covered, I have no burden to shoot. Don’t you know that I’m not a soldier?"
Even if they tried to hide behind others, Anna had no burden for shooting because everyone in front of her were the people who participated in this matter.
She’s not a soldier.
A soldier was tasked to ensure the safety of the hostage first before they were allowed to shoot no matter how confident they were. Who would want to have a bullet shot right beside one’s head?
No one wanted to experience such thrills.
But Anna was not a soldier.
Her gun license came from her own practice and qualification after taking the test to receive it. She had no obligation to protect other people and didn’t have the interest to do it either.
She will still shoot because she’s confident and there was no burden on her back.
*cry*
The people in front of her were slowly moving away.
Anna looked at the group in front of her before turning her head to look at Jake. There was no emotion within her eyes when she saw him among these people.
Because Jake was standing at the side, he was also near the window and now had become completely wet. He looked very embarrassed with his hair stuck on his face and messy clothes.
There was no image of the previous arrogant young master anymore.
"Anna," Jake called out, feeling embarrassed.
"Are you satisfied, Jake?" Anna asked slowly.
Jake was stunned before he realized that Anna thought he was the one who instigated this incident. He quickly shook his head. "No, I mean, I’m not the one who asked them to come. I’m..."
"It doesn’t matter." Anna tilted her head. "You’re here, aren’t you?"
You’re here.
This sentence was enough to point the problem at the very core.
Jake is here, which meant that even he was not the instigator, he should be the supporter or want to take advantage of the chaos.
At this time, Anna felt that she was looking too highly about Jake.
Again and again, he refreshed her cognition about how shameless he was and how he was willing to do everything for the sake of living.
Perhaps, she wouldn’t be much better if she was forced to desperation.
After all, even if she couldn’t get out, she still lived well with sufficient resources and no worry about future food. There was simply too much food in her space that Anna couldn’t worry about the lack of food even if she tried.
She was not forced into desperation.
But Anna didn’t really want to break the law from the bottom of her heart.
If it was not because she was threatened, Anna didn’t even want to pull this trigger of the weapon in her hand.
When she was young, she only thought that the gun was there for emergency.
She wouldn’t really use it.
But now, she realized just how big the power behind this gun was.
And it was this person in front of her who helped her to realize this and also see how low the bottom limit in a person’s heart is. When one’s life is threatened, who could guarantee that they will not push their own bottom limit further down?
Because they want to live.
Because they’re humans.
"I..." Jake wanted to explain but all the words he wanted to say stuck when he saw the look in Anna’s eyes.
That was an indifferent look that looked at him with eyes no difference from that of a stranger. There was no expectation, anger, hatred, or anything. There was none.
It was completely indifferent.
There was no longer any traces of him in Anna’s eyes.
She had put him down and had no interest to continue having a relationship with him. No, she didn’t even put him as her friends anymore.
Right?
But when he thought about this, Jake will feel burst of pain in his heart as if he was resisting this kind of thoughts subconsciously.
He didn’t want to accept.
He couldn’t accept it.
It should be him who pushed Anna away, but why did she become even better after he pushed her away?
It shouldn’t be like this.
Everything is wrong.
