Chapter 75. Calm before the Storm
Chapter 75: 75. Calm before the Storm
It was not like there were no troubles with others, but it didn’t involve them, so for Anna, it has been quite peaceful.
She liked it.
But she also knew that it was temporary.
"Take a seat?"
"Um." Anna nodded and pulled a chair from her living room. She then handed a thermos to Dylan. "Tea. It’ll keep you warm."
"Thank you." Dylan smiled.
Even though Anna couldn’t cook, she still could make warm tea. She had done this from time to time when she was too tired from collecting rainwater. There were a lot of tea, coffee, and others that she saved in her space in large containers.
They would be taken out when she wanted to drink.
To be honest, Anna has been looking at her space but couldn’t understand how big this space is. Even if the ball of rainwater was already very big, it still didn’t reach any limit of the space.
This made her wonder how her mother never found out about this space.
Maybe because it was not the time?
She didn’t know.
Anna pushed the thoughts to the back of her mind and sat down beside Dylan.
"Do you want to go down?" Dylan suddenly asked.
Anna was stunned. "Why?"
"To find out the real situation downstairs. Because of the limited electricity, the chat group is not giving much information. The people will only chat at night when there’s temporary electricity given by the administrator."
"But I’ll only put myself in danger if I go down." Anna pouted her lips. "Besides, the flood will reach the eight floor soon and at that time, the people who were living there might not be able to calm down anymore."
The rainstorm hadn’t stopped yet and still raging fiercely as if it wanted to drown the entire world.
The water was already very high that many valleys were already completely drowned. Only some high rise buildings could still be seen from various places.
And it was unknown how long this rain will last and whether the entire world would end up being drowned.
Not all buildings were higher than 8 floors.
Those with only slightly taller building has already been drowned.
"Right." Dylan chuckled. "Sister, are you scared?"
"I’m not scared." Anna pursed her lips. "And even if I’m scared, I still have to face everything and can’t run away. So what’s the point of being scared?"
Dylan stretched his hand and held Anna’s hand tenderly. "Don’t worry, Sister. I’ll stay and accompany you."
"The scaredy cat is now so brave?" Anna laughed and stretched her other hand to pinch Dylan’s cheek. "Who’s the one pestering me in the middle of the night to open the window and call when it’s raining, huh?"
Dylan blushed. "That’s a long time ago!"
He let Anna pinch his face because that was indeed something that he did in the past. Though, instead of being afraid, he just wanted to find a reason to have Anna accompanied him.
So he called her and reasoned that he was afraid of thunder.
That way, they called each other for several hours in the middle of the night until the phone’s battery ran out and they fell asleep naturally.
Ever since then, Anna would call him when there’s thunder.
But in the middle of junior high school, this stopped. He didn’t think that it was necessary anymore. It was also very embarrassing as a teenager to be afraid of thunder.
As a boy, Dylan refused this.
So he told Anna to stop.
"It’s good that you’re no longer afraid of thunder." Anna chuckled and released her hand, looking at Dylan’s face up close. The young boy from back then had started to be more mature. Even if there were still traces of childishness along with some baby fat on his face, it was slowly diminishing.
Dylan looked at Anna helplessly. "I also grow up, Sister Anna~."
"Yes, you are." Anna nodded.
"You don’t sound so sincere."
"How come? I believe your words." Anna chuckled when she saw Dylan sulking. Even though he had grown up, she could only see him as the boy from their young age. The cute little boy who often followed her.
Dylan smiled and shook his head. Looking at Anna’s mischievous smile, he knew that she was only coaxing him. But he still accepted her words and looked forward. Dylan’s eyebrows furrowed.
"Someone is coming."
"Huh?" Anna blinked her eyes and focused to the front too. She released her hand from Dylan’s hand. The gun that was kept in her space appeared in her hand once more.
Dylan also took up the metal bat that he put beside his chair. It was his main weapon aside from the gun he brought on his back. If it can be solved with this thing, there was no need to waste bullets.
Drap! Drap!
A large number of people came forward and Dylan’s eyes narrowed.
It seemed that someone must have instigated for them to come here because there were simply too many people.
"They’re all from the eight floor." Anna looked at some familiar faces. She didn’t know their names, but she still knew them from coming and going the apartment in the past. After all, she had lived here for a long period of time.
These people were all people from floor one to eight who have been staying in 802.
"They’re here." One of them spoke.
"There are only two people." The other man sneered. "There’s no way these two would be able to stop us."
"Right."
"What do you want?" Dylan interrupted these people and looked at their appearance. They didn’t come here in peace at all.
"We’re here for your place and your food. Give it up." Another large man came forward.
"Why should I?" Dylan asked back. His body was tense, ready to move when it was necessary.
"Because we said so." A thin man’s hand went to his back and a gun was taken out from there.
Bang!
