Chapter 73. Lively New Year

Chapter 73: 73. Lively New Year

The four of them bickered and only stopped after the dinner was over. It was Anna’s turn to guard this time.

"You only have to stay awake until it’s dawn. I’ll wake up by that time." Lucy calculated the time in her mind.

"Are you sure you want to wake up so early?" Anna arched her eyebrows.

"It’s fine." Lucy waved her hand. "I’ll be guarding again after Mark, so I have enough time to rest tomorrow at night."

Their rotation time was fixed. From Mark, Lucy, Dylan, and lastly Anna. Because Anna’s physical strength was also the weakest, the others were a bit worried.

Well, they actually didn’t have to worry that much.

Anna still has the gun.

Plus, there were a lot of ammunition inside her space that she hadn’t used up for a long time. As long as she kept her distance from her opponents, they wouldn’t be able to do anything to her.

"Ok, then. Go to sleep now so that you can wake early."

"Ok."

Lucy went back to her room while Anna sat outside in the corridor.

Looking at the empty corridor with only the sound of water hitting the wall and window could be heard, Anna honestly felt it was really tranquil. She raised her head and looked at the window in the distance.

The water from the rainwater was soon collected once more.

If Anna had to say, she actually liked being the one to guard because it meant she could collect more water.

As time passed, Anna checked her phone and saw the chat group lit up.

Some people were giving their congratulation for the New Year.

A new year has come.

The past year should have been the year with the most death in the recent decades. So many people died on the last month of the year, not having any chance to see the new year.

It has become their last year.

Anna lowered her head and slowly muttered, "Happy New Year."

This year, it will definitely be very difficult. With flood as the start of their new year, many people couldn’t even celebrate New Year. Not to mention, a lot of people had died this year and countless people were grieving.

They couldn’t be happy.

Even if they had the chance to see the new year, many of their relatives would never have the chance. Their time had stopped in the year before.

The night passed by quietly.

When the dawn came, the door from Dylan’s apartment was opened and Lucy walked out, still yawning.

"Early." Anna nodded at Lucy.

"Like I said before, I’ll wake up early to see you." Lucy grinned. She looked forward. "It seems that the people around were quite sensible and didn’t come to make trouble today."

"They might be reminiscing about the past year," Anna replied.

"Not everyone is a person who’s willing to think about the past." Lucy was noncommittal about Anna’s answer. In her opinion, some people simply didn’t care about the date and the celebration of the year.

They might not even remember that the year had changed.

Anna laughed. "I’ll leave this post to you. I’m going to sleep."

"Uh huh." Lucy nodded and take Anna’s seat. Then she recalled something. "Don’t forget to bring that wine when you come over at night."

Anna: "...I won’t forget something like that."

"Good then." Lucy was happy.

Anna shook her head and entered her apartment and made her way to her own room. She slumped on her bed and slowly drifted to the dreamland.

...

At night, everyone gathered together in Dylan’s apartment for the New Year’s celebration.

Their celebration was a bit simple, though.

Only some food, games, and a few others.

"You wake up quite late," Lucy complained when she saw Anna only came when it was already evening.

"I sleep a bit too long." Anna shrugged.

She was not like these three who have excellent physical strength and didn’t need to sleep a lot. If her sleep was lacking, it was estimated that she wouldn’t even be able to sleep properly.

For this matter, Anna could only express her helplessness.

"Let’s have some simple stretching before you join in our game."

"Wait, I still have to do exercise today?"

"Of course~."

"Wait, wooo..."

After some exercise, Anna was finally released by Lucy and played the board games together with the others. These were all simple games that Anna had put in her living room before. Dylan was the one responsible for bringing it here.

Looking at the complete stack of games, even Lucy was surprised.

She never thought of Anna as someone who liked to play games.

Even when they were young, Anna didn’t have much interest to play these games and would rather play with her computer.

"When did you buy these?" Lucy was looking for the barcode, a bit curious.

"I didn’t buy them. They’re given." Anna shrugged. "Besides, I don’t play them at all."

"Right." When Dylan take them here, these games were still wrapped with their plastic bags. It was clear that Anna had never played these games before and just kept them in her storage room.

"Still, who’s so blind that they’re giving these games to you." Lucy was speechless. These were all children’s games and even if it could be played by adults, it would be strange to give it to adult like Anna.

The people in their circle knew that Anna didn’t like to play game too.

So whoever chose to give Anna these games were definitely blind.

*cough*

Anna looked away and chose not to explain that she took them all from the mall’s storage. There was simply a complete collection of items there and for this matter, Anna also expressed her helplessness.

She wouldn’t play them but it doesn’t mean other people out there wouldn’t.

If not because of that, there was no way these games would be put on the stocks.

Dylan looked at the game and played with the dice on his hand, his expression thoughtful.
