I'm the Villainess in the Apocalypse -
Chapter 67. City Wall
Chapter 67: 67. City Wall
While Mark and Dylan were making trouble with each other, Anna was staying in her room, looking at the window to collect rainwater.
Honestly, she didn’t know what else to do aside from doing this.
The amount of water she had collected was actually a lot. But compared to the amount of water in the entire world, it was naturally nothing.
She stayed until it was time for lunch and went to Dylan’s apartment.
"Lucy hasn’t woken up yet?" Anna asked after she came to the living room.
"No." Mark shook his head. Since they rotated the guarding time at night between the four of them, their sleeping time would also turn around. At this time, Lucy hadn’t woken up yet and Mark had no intention to disturb his girlfriend’s sleep.
"Ok, then." Anna shrugged.
"Since you’re here, how about if you help me cook?"
"What do you want to make this time?"
"I’m going to make soup from the frozen meat."
"...Without vegetables?"
"Just see in the refrigerator what kind of vegetables are left." Dylan looked at Anna speechlessly. Normally speaking, most vegetables would not last for two weeks if they were not pickled or processed so that they would last longer.
Even if these vegetables were put in the fridge, they will turn bad after some time.
After all, refrigerator didn’t stop food from going bad but only slowing down the process.
"What kind of soup will it be?"
"Don’t worry, it’s still delicious. Come and watch..."
Anna didn’t help much this time and mostly watched as Dylan cooked the soup. It was indeed very simple and after it was done, the taste was really good.
"I still don’t think that this is soup," Mark commented after he saw the end result.
"Chicken soup."
The other two: "..."
Can’t really say anything about this now.
Anna shook her head. She originally wanted to play with Lucy but since the other party was still sleeping, she will naturally not disturb Lucy at this time.
"Hey, Mark, can you tell me more about the outside world?"
"What do you want to ask?" Mark was doubtful when he heard Anna’s question.
"Well, I and Lucy discussed about the situation of the people outside." Anna blinked her eyes and looked at Mark. "And it seems the shelters are really bad. Are there really no good place to stay out there now?"
Good place to stay?
Mark thought about his father’s base that was only being planned right now. Because of the rain, it was really hard for them to start building anything even if they wanted to. Rescuing people alone were very difficult because it was simply a challenge of life and death.
But for soldiers, these were their duties and also responsibility. They were willing to put their life on the line to save more people who needed it.
"There’s a shelter that’s being built but you won’t be able to go there for the time being," Mark said slowly.
"Shelter?" Anna raised her head and looked at Mark in astonishment. "Uncle made it?"
"Yes." Mark looked at Dylan, who had taken a seat not far from Anna and smiled bitterly. "In fact, I want to ask you and the others about going there after the rain had stopped. But I didn’t mention it yet because the situation on the base is relatively unstable and it might not be any safer than here."
Right now, this apartment couldn’t be said to be safest place around, but they didn’t have much problem staying here. There were some people who were annoying but it was not the point of crossing the line.
At the very least, there was no big crimes happening here.
But it was indeed not very stable because there were many worries and the people might not want to stay together peacefully in the end.
That was something to be concerned about in the future.
"Going to the base?" Anna repeated quietly.
Her mind was a bit blank.
For a moment, she was thinking about those bases like what she read in the apocalyptic novel. But after that, she shook her head because it was quite strange to see those kind of buildings in this kind of environment.
Those buildings in the description looked like ancient cities with high walls and many other features contained within.
Modern cities were not exactly separated by those walls. In fact, some cities that were side by side were hard to differentiate where the lines between the two cities were exactly. Some buildings that were located in between the two cities could claim to be in either area.
Those ancient cities were not very convenient to make.
Not to mention, the reasons why the cities were built like that was to protect the people in the city from the beasts outside and also the other dangerous thing. At that time, the safety was not as high as it was now.
Now that they were suddenly experiencing this apocalypse...
Would the wall building’s design regress again?
Anna’s mind wander around about this matter.
"Sister Anna, what are you thinking about?" Dylan saw that Anna looked like she was in a daze and couldn’t help but ask.
"Huh? I’m thinking about the base’s design," Anna replied subconsciously before blushing. "Forget I say that."
"The base design?" The two boys looked at each other and then laughed.
"You can say that it’s a bit more like ancient cities if you want to say. After all, security will be the higher priority and before the world return to normal, it’ll be hard to guarantee everyone’s safety without necessary caution." Mark shrugged helplessly.
"It’ll be great if the world can return to normal soon, but if it’s not possible, living in a shelter will give them a sense of security similar to how it used to be. The shape might not be the same as cities, though," Dylan continued.
Anna nodded after she listened to their explanation. "So, my guesses are correct."
