Chapter 432. Suspicion
Chapter 432: 432. Suspicion
After a while, Derek looked straight at Dylan with a sigh and nodded. "Yes, there shouldn’t be anyone who could do it again in the future."
Dylan’s eyes narrowed.
He could tell that Derek’s words choice seemed to be intentional as if he was guiding them to think that there was someone behind this incident. And from the way Derek didn’t mind letting them know, it was estimated that this was something that would be announced in the future.
Since that was the case, there wouldn’t be any problem with Derek revealing this matter in advance to some people.
Besides, Dylan and Anna were not exactly ordinary people.
"You know, don’t you?" Dylan asked suddenly.
Anna looked at Dylan in confusion. She felt that he was alluding to something, but she was not able to understand what they were talking about.
Did Derek mentioned something that refer to other things?
Derek glanced at Dylan and shrugged. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
Dylan looked at Derek one more and then pulled Anna’s hand. "Let’s go and check Kitty. He must be worried."
"Ah?" Anna was curious about what the two of them were talking about, but she didn’t ask it in front of Derek and instead followed Dylan to go back to their apartment to see Kitty. In any case, their first priority was Kitty.
Derek watched the two’s back and took a deep breath. He knew that Dylan suspected something, but without any concrete evidences, he wouldn’t be able to do anything.
Not that Derek was worried, though.
Because trying to connect this matter to Derek and found physical evidences would be difficult.
Derek turned around and went back into the research institute. He felt that if there was nothing else, he didn’t want to stay outside for a long time. His main worry was not those big mutated animals out there but that Brenda would come to look for him again.
It would be too much of a hassle if she did come.
...
Drap! Drap!
The two Dylan and Anna ran at fast speed to cross the gate of the central area towards the east area.
Along the way, Anna asked, "Dylan, what are you thinking?"
"I’m thinking that Derek might have known something about the incident that will happen today," Dylan replied.
Know?
But how did he able to know?
For Anna, she could only think of two possibilities. The first one was that he possessed ability somewhat similar to Alicia and able to see through the future to a certain degree. This kind of ability was truly terrifying and whoever possessed this ability would definitely be coveted by many people in the future.
It was just that they all knew that Derek is a space ability.
If he also awakened this support type of ability, then it would be really miserable for him because his means of protecting himself had to rely on other people more than himself.
Perhaps, this was one of the reasons why he stayed in the research institute and unwilling to leave.
But this possibility was a bit low.
Not mentioning that those with prophecy type of skills are rare. Even if there were people with such ability, it might not fall on him. Also, dual abilities were also extremely rare and most people would not be able to dream about having two abilities to the rest of their lives.
It would be better for them to dream of having one ability lest they be heartbroken as the possibility of awakening two abilities were too low.
The second possibility was that Derek participated in this matter and might either be the culprit, accomplish, or bystander who was lucky enough to see the matter. But whichever one of it is, those who knew things would happen this way and still did nothing...
It really made one wonder whether they have a heart or not.
Though, this kind of question was hard to answer in the current time as many people were already crossing their bottom lines several times in order to survive. Who knew how many of them strictly kept their methods to only retaliate and not harming others?
No one knew.
As long as they reported the matter as self defense, the base didn’t have much time to investigate and only done some preliminary investigations.
Half of it was more perfunctory.
"Do you think he..." Anna was not sure how to voice it out.
"I don’t know," Dylan replied. "I don’t have any evidence and it’s not good to slander someone with position in the base. Moreover, without any evidences, everything I said can only be said to be rumor or slander."
Anna heard Dylan’s words and nodded thoughtfully.
She hoped that his suspicion was wrong because if he did know but letting it happen or even causing it to happen... why would he want to do something like that?
Countless people had died under the hands of these big mutated animals.
What he did was simply causing even more destruction for humanities. More blood was shed and tears poured out in order to face the apocalypse that had befallen on them. It was very cruel to let more people to face these big mutated animals.
So the biggest question would be why.
"I see," Anna said slowly.
Dylan smiled faintly. "Don’t worry, if he did have some suspicious points, it’ll be revealed sooner or later. For the time being, we should not think about him too much and just focus on coming back to see Kitty."
With Dylan mentioning Kitty, Anna threw the matter of Derek and the others to the back of her mind. Neither of the two of them truly knew the situation of the base in details. Since it was the case, they should forget about it and just do what they could for the time being.
And the most important thing for them to do right now was to check on Kitty.
"En!" Anna nodded in agreement at Dylan’s words.
"Let’s go."
