Chapter 389. Enemies Meet at Narrow Road
Chapter 389: 389. Enemies Meet at Narrow Road
"Enemies meet at narrow road?" Dylan also sighed and patted Anna’s shoulder with his free hand. "Let’s go through the other road."
It was not like there was only one road here either.
After all, the base was big enough and they had made several roads before.
"Um." Anna nodded. She also didn’t want to meet with these people.
But their wishes couldn’t be realized because the three of them had already seen them. Naturally, they recognized each other and they all stopped in their track when they saw each other.
Brenda’s face, which was already a bit dark ever since they were eating not long ago, turned even darker when she saw Anna. This was because she knew the complicated relationship between them all.
One was Anna’s half sister.
The other one was Anna’s ex fiancé’s sister.
"Anna!" Jill called out with a smile. She had a good relationship with Anna before. Even though they were not close, but they were not too distant.
Anna could only stop when Jill called her. "Hey, Jill."
"How have you been?" Jill was smiling as she stepped forward. "Sorry about my cousin’s behavior. He’s a jerk and you’re lucky not staying with him."
Anna looked at Jill helplessly.
Probably only Jill who could say that about Jake so openly. His other family members would think that she was not worthy of him now that she was no longer part of Williams Family.
Oh well, it didn’t matter though.
She’s now Dylan’s wife and Jake is already someone of the past. Anna couldn’t even remember his name if not for seeing them again on the gate not long ago and then forget about it again when she went to the research institute.
"You shouldn’t say anything about Jake again," Anna said with a smile. "I’m now married to Dylan."
"Dylan?" Jill tilted her head, apparently not remembering who it was. It was only now he saw the young man standing beside Anna, looking in her direction with a not so good expression.
Considering that she and Jake were cousins, it was already good enough for Dylan not to kick her away.
"Nice to meet you. My name is Jillian." Jill nodded at Dylan.
Dylan nodded back politely. "Dylan."
Even though Dylan didn’t really like Stafford Family, he would not hit a smiling face. Anyway, the other party was polite and not like Jake who looked like he was asking for a beating at any time.
To be honest, Dylan was already good enough for not beating Jake from the very moment that man appeared in front of Anna back then.
It was already very polite.
Naturally, if they came now, Dylan would have no qualms beating them all up. He didn’t really care about whoever was behind that annoying Jake for all he wanted was to make sure that that man didn’t covet his wife.
Anna nodded at Jill and was about to say goodbye when Betty stepped forward.
"What are you doing here?" Betty asked, her tone was full of accusation. "Don’t tell me that you know we’re coming here so you’re here?"
Anna kept a faint smile on her face. "Betty, I have been staying in this base for months. I should be the one asking you this question."
"You..."
"And if there’s nothing else, please don’t bother me. I don’t have much patient for you," Anna added coldly and then turned around to leave.
She felt that they should have stayed in the research institute for a while longer so that she would not have to meet with Betty at this time. Unfortunately, she didn’t know that this would happen.
Because if she did, then would definitely not come out.
Even if she had to face the angry Kitty for a while longer, it was much better than facing these annoying people.
"Meow." Kitty was also raising his head, his face scrunched in displeasure because he could see that Anna was not very happy when she was seeing these people.
They seemed to be the few people who kept on bothering her back then. Kitty stretched his paw slightly, contemplating whether it would be fine for him to scratch the other party.
Dylan had allowed Kitty to roam freely and fought those wild boars who had mutated outside the base. But when it came to other people, Dylan had never allowed Kitty to hurt others.
After all, Dylan didn’t want to make trouble.
But this person was annoying Anna.
And Kitty could see that Dylan was also emanating killing intent and great displeasure. Can he make a move?
"You b*tch!" Betty cursed out loud and stepped forward.
Before she could take another step, Kitty had sprung up and raised his paw in front of Betty’s face.
Scratch!
"Meow!"
"KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaa!"
"Betty!" Jill was stunned and didn’t expect this to happen. She quickly raised her hand and the seeds in her hand turned into long branch that caught Betty, who was flung to the back due to the force and about to fall down.
Brenda, who was contemplating from the side, frowned when she saw this but didn’t step forward to fight. Her ability was space and she literally didn’t have much fighting capabilities, so she would not drag herself in trouble.
The few people who were sent to protect Brenda were putting their hands on their weapon, though.
They were ready to attack if it was necessary.
"Kitty!" Dylan called, preventing Kitty from making another attack. This Betty was only an ordinary woman and facing an animal who had mutated, she wouldn’t be able to fight back.
Kitty, who had landed on the ground, raised his head unwillingly. "Meow."
But she was making trouble for Anna, can’t he make a move?
Even though Anna and Dylan couldn’t understand Kitty’s meow, his face full of grievances had already told them what he wanted to say.
At this moment, Anna didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "I’m fine, Kitty. Don’t attack her again."
