Chapter 363. Preparation

Chapter 363: 363. Preparation

"Sana Mirabelle Mason, the daughter of the Mason Family’s head, died in the attack of the big mutated rats not long ago." Lucas rubbed his forehead. "As you know, the death of any close relatives related to the five leaders would be more than enough to turn the entire base upside down."

If it was the relative of a nearby family, the impact might not be so big. But this was the family’s head own daughter. He only has one son and one daughter. With one of them died because the big mutated rats not long ago, he was furious.

The entry and exit for the people in the base will be strictly controlled for the next period of time.

"Ah, it’s troubling." Dylan sighed deeply. "Do you have any guess about who it might be?"

"How should I know." Lucas shrugged. "I only know that there are some people talking about this matter just now and how they’re worried that they would be implicated. As you know, the relationship between the five big families are mostly superficial."

"Jules and Raymond Family are in laws," Lucy reminded.

"Well, I know." Lucas looked at his cousin speechlessly. Did she has to remind them that the two of them were married all the time? Looking at Mark’s smug smile made him want to punch this b*stard for taking his cousin sister again.

"Our three families have better relationship because of our past." Dylan chuckled. "If not for that, they would not ask for you to stay with me for the time being."

Without the basis of trust, there was no way they would be reassured to leave the important younger family members with Dylan and Anna.

It was even more so because the place where they were staying were further from the base.

If anything happened, they wouldn’t be able to react in time.

Letting these four to stay with them was the same as saying that they trusted the two of them that nothing would happen to the four of them in this period of time.

"I couldn’t say that Second Uncle Kenan trusted you," Lucy said and stretched her body. "He’s not the type to trust so easily. If he did, he would have given his son to stay with us rather than Lucas and me."

"He’s not close to Dylan or Anna. Even if he did come there, Dylan would be uncomfortable with it," Lucas reminded.

There was no way that Second Uncle Kenan would entrust his own son to others whom he didn’t fully trust. It might have been because of their father’s request to Second Uncle Kenan that he made this decision.

Or it was because of something else.

Either way, it would have been impossible for Second Uncle Kenan to trust Dylan and Anna so much.

"There might be others whom he could entrust his son to," Dylan said. "After all, the turmoil from the internal problem will only intensify with the death of Mason Family’s daughter right during the attack of these big mutated rats."

Whoever made the move had chosen a very good time.

When these big mutated rats were rampaging, it would have been impossible for them to keep noticing everyone from the family. After all, everyone would be too busy either fighting these big mutated rats or making sure they would survive one way or another.

The soldiers and everyone from the five leaders’ family couldn’t possibly run away in the face of these big mutated rats.

Unless they wanted to lose all faces and lose their authority, they couldn’t run away.

But now, one of them had died.

Is it an accident because of these big mutated rats or it was because of something else?

No one knew.

At least, not before any investigation was done.

"Right." Lucas nodded, not feeling that it was strange at all. After all, his uncle was indeed a person who might have prepared a different backup for himself and his family.

Besides, he was not too close to his uncle either.

"Rather than worrying about that, how about if you worry more about how we’re going to leave this place first?" Dylan asked.

If they were to be prohibited from leaving the place, then it wouldn’t be so easy for them to leave, Not that Dylan would be worried about them using the guns to stop them, though.

If it was in the past, Dylan might be worried.

But now, he was not worried.

Because he knew both he and Anna had strength that was more than enough to allow themselves to block even bullets. And if there were any fight to happen, there would be more than enough time for them to respond.

Their reaction speed had gotten much better with the games they played in their small hut and the improvement brought by their increasing abilities.

Though, it would have been best if they didn’t reveal the truth about their real abilities. Because if there were many people who knew about their rate of improvement, it would be a lie to say that they wouldn’t be jealous.

They could fight against a large number of people.

But not if everyone in the entire world were to chase after them and tried to get that so called secret.

So it would be better for them not to reveal their real abilities unless it was absolutely necessary.

At least, not now.

"Ah, I’ll just scare them." Lucy grinned. "Do you know that my ability had skyrocketed so much that I can’t even hide it? It seems that even my instructor kept on using me to lit up the fire for everyone to warm up."

After receiving the food supplies that Anna gave to them, well more like Anna gave them a lot of potatoes, Lucy and Mark realized the effect of the potatoes. While they didn’t know the origin of the potatoes, they could guess why Dylan told them not to share them.

They could only eat it by themselves.
