The swarm of these big mutated rats finally decreased after several hours of fighting.

Neither Anna or Dylan were tired.

Even if they were using AOE type of attack, the consumption was not that big. After a few hours, they had used more than half of their ability’s reserve, but there were still much more left.

They could still fight for a few more hours.

But the scene in front of them was really tragic.

Countless people had died under the attack of these big mutated rats. Many people died in this attack, dying the ground red with blood along with countless pieces of their meat scattered around, bitten to death by these big mutated rats.

It was horrible.

Anna took a deep breath and glanced to Dylan. Even if there were still a lot of big mutated rats in this place, their formation was no longer so dense like before. They were more scattered and many of these big mutated rats were trying to run away now.

They were not so keen to attack anymore after finding many of their ’comrades’ had fallen under the hands of humans.

"Let’s go."

Dylan nodded and lead Anna inside.

They had wasted a long time fighting against those big mutated rats outside and he didn’t know the situation inside.

Now that the formation of the humans and both big mutated rats were loose, it was much easier for the three of them to sneak in. Kitty, who was fighting, grabbed one dead big mutated rat and ran to follow them. He wanted to eat these big mutated rats that he had killed himself.

For Kitty, who didn’t have much qualm about which meat he eat, didn’t really care about the fact that the big mutated rats was dirty.

When the world hadn’t changed back then, hadn’t he eaten many rats before?

After all, he liked to hunt these rats and eaten some additional meal on his own.

Though, he was often reprimanded because these they were dirty. Now, Kitty was not that worried that Anna and Dylan would reprimand him. Because his physique had increased and his resistance towards many things had also got better.

Anna and Dylan followed the sound of gunshots and found the street was filled with the corpses of big mutated rats and also humans.

It was a tragic sight.

Their eyes were a bit red, but there was nothing that they could do.

Who would have known that these big mutated rats would suddenly attack their base right after the temperature had turned slightly warmer?

Dylan took out his phone and rang the number for Mark. On the other hand, Anna called the number of Lucy. The two of them didn’t really expect the two of them to answer, but they wanted to try just in case.

"Anna?" Lucy’s voice sounded tired.

"Lucy!" Anna nearly yelled. "Where are you now?"

"We’re in the military base," Lucy replied. "Our team is in the base when the attack happened and many big mutated rats come here, so we’re fighting here. Right now, the situation had stabilized but Lidia got hurt and Mark is too tired, so we’re resting while guarding here."

Since Lucy was sitting and not fighting, she could answer Anna’s inquiry rather calmly. Looking at the scene in front of her, Lucy wanted to cry yet the tears in her eyes were hold back.

She knew that soldiers were those who fought on the frontline and there would definitely many casualties.

But seeing the death of those people who used to talk and joke around with her...

It was hard.

"We’ll go there." Anna’s grip on her phone tightened. She could sense that Lucy’s state was wrong and wanted to go closer to her friend to comfort the other party. Because she knew that what Lucy needed the most was company of her friends.

"Um..." Lucy hummed in a low voice before remembering something. "Aren’t you two in your small base?"

She remembered this because they hadn’t seen each other for a few weeks. And when they had a call, the background for Anna and Dylan were always in their small hut instead of the base.

So neither she or Mark had the intention to pay a visit to Anna when they found the temperature slightly warmer. They were waiting for these two to return to the base first, which might take some time.

"We’re at the base, not that far from the military district," Anna replied and turned to look at Dylan.

The call to Mark didn’t get in, so Dylan had already lowered his phone. He nodded at Anna and pointed at one direction. That was the place where the military district was located and also where Mark and Lucy was.

He took his phone and made a call to his uncle.

His grandfather asked him to come here to support his uncle, but when he came here, he couldn’t even enter because there were so many big mutated rats. And with the battle being that fierce, he had no other choice but to stay and fight.

Now, he wanted to find his uncle too.

"Lucy, do you know where Uncle Darien is?" Anna chose to ask.

"Uncle Darien?" Lucy repeated and then said, "He’s here. The five leaders are split into two groups. One group is here, including Uncle Darien and our family. The other two are fighting in the hospital area, leading the soldiers to fight against the big mutated rats."

"Great. Thank you, we’ll go there soon!"
