Chapter 329. Sweet Time
Chapter 329: 329. Sweet Time
Uncle Darien silently hope that Anna would pay a visit in the future.
That way, his meal would not only be one ingredients.
But looking at the heavy snow outside, it seemed that the two of them might not even pay a visit for the next few weeks.
...
At this time, Anna and Dylan had arrived at the small base. Anna silently cleaned up all the snow inside as Dylan parked the truck with Kitty following him. The two of them then went to the small hut they built.
The hut was built with wooden logs and then covered in cloth for the inside. Well, it was relatively crude and there was nothing much that could be done about it. Neither of them were professional builder and this kind of building gave them a sense of satisfaction since they build it themselves.
"When the snow passed later, I’ll ask them to build a small house here," Dylan said as they walked in.
"Are there even any builders left?" Anna asked another question. In her opinion, people would not really find those kind of works at this period of time. Especially because they would not care too much about the place where they lived when they were all worrying about their own needs.
"Right." Dylan rubbed his chin.
If they were in normal times, it would have been much easier to find someone to build and to ask for the machines. But now that these builders were dedicated to the base and the machines were all used to upgrade and expand the base, it didn’t seem to be possible at all for them to undertake private projects.
Well, the value of these machines had just gone higher and higher now that everyone was in needs of everything.
"Forget it. The base will need it more when they do repairs in the future." Dylan shook his head.
"Repairs?" Anna walked towards their small hut in confusion.
Dylan nodded. "Some of them said that there’s sign of these mutated animals to become more active and they’re starting to eliminate them one by one. If these mutated animals are left alone, they will multiply faster and might even threaten our safety."
Hearing about mutated animals made Anna felt a chill on her back. Well, she had heard about these things and it was certainly not a good thing if they gathered together.
Their experience with those rats back then was more than enough to make Anna not want to meet any mutated animals again in her entire life. Thankfully, nothing bad happened on that day.
"They wouldn’t come to our small place, would they?" Anna asked another question.
"Meow?" Kitty, who had followed Anna from the back, was stunned by Anna’s question. After that, he tilted his head and meowed once again.
"MEOW!" If they dared to come, I’ll be the one to beat them all up!
"Well, it seems Kitty is already excited about meeting these mutated animals and beat them all up on his own." Dylan chuckled at Kitty’s excited scream. If it was up to him, he would also go and beat up those mutated animals.
But there was also something that was worth considering.
"Right." Anna helplessly patted Kitty’s head.
"Let’s secure more security measure for our small base, alright?" Dylan asked. He smiled. "We wouldn’t want those mutated animals to disturb us when we’re having fun."
Anna blinked her eyes and seeing the teasing smile on Dylan’s face, her cheek flushed at his comment as she tried to look away.
"R-right."
Dylan’s smile grew wider.
"Meow!"
And it has always been this cat that disturbed their peaceful conversation.
Dylan glared at Kitty but only be faced with Kitty glaring back in his direction. This Kitty has never been afraid of Dylan!
The two of them glared at each other, not wanting to lose to a cat (person).
"Hey, stop staying outside." Anna looked at the two childish cat and man helplessly, yet there was a doting smile on her face. "Come inside to keep yourself warm. The snow is not getting any less."
"Yes." Dylan could only move away his gaze from Kitty.
Then, it’s a draw for them, hmph!
Kitty also snorted and then followed Dylan to the cabin. Now that Anna said it, he did feel a bit cold out here. Even if his entire body was covered with fur, it was not designed for this cold.
They all entered the cabin and Anna started the generator and also the heater. Even if this was a hut, it was still using the electrical appliance. After all, the two of them didn’t’ really want to go back to the era before electricity appeared.
With the heater on, the temperature in the hut was warmer and soon, there was no need for them to use their jackets.
"Meow?" Kitty looked around the hut, inspecting his territory with curiosity. He didn’t understand why the two of them would like to stay here for the time being. After all, this hut couldn’t be compared to their apartment.
Dylan saw Kitty’s appearance and thought about what the cat could be thinking. He didn’t seem to like this place so much.
"Do you want to go back, Kitty?"
"Meow?" Kitty tilted his head when he heard Dylan’s question and then nodded.
"I can bring you there, but you will have to stay with my grandfather," Dylan said with a grin.
"MEOW!" no way!
Kitty hissed and then rushed towards his special bed at the side. Well, saying it was a special bed was an exaggeration because it was more like a special dedicated pillow for him.
Dylan laughed at Kitty’s reaction.
"Come on, stop teasing the cat." Anna was also smiling when she said this. She pointed to their greenhouse. "Time to take care of those plants over there."
"Ah, right." Dylan nodded and walked out of the hut with Anna by his side. They were already warm enough after staying in the hut, so it’s time to go back to their work.
