Chapter 295. The Others (4)
Chapter 295: 295. The Others (4)
"Their gathering place. It’s not far from the base and there are several mutated animals. I didn’t mean only one species but several of them," Uncle Matthias replied.
Uncle Darien arched his eyebrows. "Tell me, have you found about this a long time ago?"
A long time ago?
Uncle Matthias shook his head. "It’s hasn’t been that long. We only found out about this matter coincidentally, which allow us to discuss how to countermeasure these mutated animals."
It was just that, it was really hard to really say that he believed their words 100 percent.
What they cared were the safety of the people. The current situation was already bad enough and if these mutated animals were to gather and threaten other bases, other bases will help in the way they could. Because if the bases were to fall because of these mutated animals, there was a chance that there would also be casualties and deaths.
More and more mutated animals would spread until their number was uncontrollable.
Would the rest of the people able to survive at that time?
The current mutated animals didn’t post many threats because their current guns could handle them. But if these mutated animals grew stronger with time, just like how the awakened people grew stronger, then they would be in trouble.
"It’s dangerous." Uncle Darien frowned. "Do you want to contact the other bases?"
"Other base?" Uncle Matthias sneered. "If you can contact them, then I’ll think it’s a miracle."
Uncle Darien was stunned.
He was so busy lately with the pile of work that he had left behind that he didn’t have time to care for the outside world. Well, these two people were also busy, but because of the nature of their work, they couldn’t cut off contact with the others.
Naturally, they also found out about some things that happened outside.
"Did I miss something?"
"You miss the rats." Second Uncle Kenan shrugged. "These mutated animals also came out in other bases and there are reports of several attacks. It seems that these mutated animals suddenly came out within the few days human started awakening. Our base is not the first one to get attacked."
"They concealed the news, huh?" Uncle Darien snorted.
Second Uncle Kenan nodded.
Some of them who had only been recently attacked might not have the time to care about other bases. They had to take care of these mutated animals in their base first before dealing with anything else.
But those who had been attacked by these mutated animals a day or two before them should have known the danger of these mutated animals. Yet, they didn’t say anything and instead let them suffer first.
It could be said that the unity of these bases were very low.
Even in the face of national disaster like these mutated animals, they were still withholding information.
Many people were selfish and their cultural practice most of the time didn’t really involve taking care of others. They would care about their own business most of the time and only a certain number of them would care about others.
Uncle Matthias shook his head. "We’re on our own and can’t really rely on them. Some cooperation is inevitable but there’s nothing more than that."
"I see." Uncle Darien sighed.
Even if they were all still the same official base in the cities, these people still cared about themselves more. He knew that much, but can’t they at least share some information that was important?
The researchers have already put down their selfishness and worked together in order to figure out many things.
But many other people still didn’t want to share even the slightest bit of news.
It felt disheartening.
But since they were the leader of the base, they knew that this was one of the risks. Every people were different and it was impossible for everyone to be the same. Even if they wanted to promote this kind of thing, it would not be easy to do.
"Back to the main topic. How confident are you to deal with these mutated animals?" Uncle Darien asked.
"Pretty confident. At this stage, what we need is enough ammunition and weapon," Uncle Matthias replied. "But the problem is that we can’t really waste the bullets and others. The factories hadn’t been built again and many machines have only started been made again for production."
"How about the raw materials?"
"We have sulfur and the others necessary to make gunpowder," Second Uncle Kenan said with a smile. "The terrain here is pretty good."
There were several mines in the mountain range behind them. They had recruited people from the base to take care of it and even if the progress was slow, the raw material accumulation was not bad.
Of course, people who worked there had to be watched carefully so that they would not take out the resources inside to sell for others. This was why the military was half in charge of the mines.
The other one who took care of it was Mr. Mason.
Uncle Darien was taking care about other aspects in the base, so he was not very knowledgeable about the supplies there.
"Then, you can make your plan. There’s no need to discuss with me."
"No, the main reason for our discussion is because these researchers also have a request." Second Uncle Kenan looked helpless when he thought about this.
Uncle Darien had a bad feeling.
These researchers have been asking about a lot of things. In order to be able to produce result as fast as possible, he had been trying to be accommodating and tried his best to fulfill their request.
The other two leaders also patient with these researchers. After all, they wanted to know more about the changed world and these researchers were indispensable.
"What did they ask?" Uncle Darien asked with difficulties.
"They hoped for more space and funds in order to investigate more about the mutated animals." Second Uncle Kenan also looked rather helpless.
