Chapter 292. The Others (1)
Chapter 292: 292. The Others (1)
Even if some people in rebellious period wanted to do it, they could do it if they wanted to.
But neither Dylan and Mark would agree with their words. They did live independently after they had turned into adult, but it didn’t mean they would cut of contact from their family.
Going out to live independently and so on was only their means to experience the world and also their way to adapt to the world. But they would never truly cut off contact with their family members and if there were anything they needed, they could also ask their family members for help.
After that flood and all, the world had changed.
From what they knew, the world had become much more dangerous. There were many people who died in the past few months because of the disaster that truck the entire world
Whether the world would return to normal was still another unanswered question.
Even now, the temperature was still freezing cold and many people didn’t know when it would return to normal. They could only try their best to adapt to this world and try to survive as much as possible.
But what the end result would be, it was not something they knew.
In this base, there would be many people who would pay attention to them just because of their family members. So Mark would also make use of his family members to make sure that he was able to survive well.
"Who are those two?" Dylan asked.
"Someone from Davis Family and the other one is my cousin. You should remember her, Alicia."
Alicia from Jules Family.
Dylan’s brain turned as he tried his best to remember Mark’s cousin. Unlike Lucy who has several cousins because her family was really big. The number of distant cousins alone was in two digits.
It was truly a hassle to remember all of them.
Dylan could only remember a few of them such as Lucas who still has some interaction and also often soliciting them to join the military. Of course, Dylan and Anna would never agree to his invitation.
They would rather be ordinary civilian and stayed far away from the world of the military.
Mark’s father had one brother and this brother had two children. One of them was Alicia, Mark’s cousin who was a few years older than them. If Dylan was not wrong, Alicia was still in university.
"I think I remember her." Dylan nodded. "How about the one from Davis Family?"
"The Davis Family is protecting her tightly." Mark shrugged. It seemed the Davis Family was determined to keep her identity a secret during this period of time. Even if it would be useless later, but it was still useful for now. "Aside from knowing that she’s from Davis Family, no one else knows about her."
"Alright then." Dylan nodded.
"Come on, let’s start moving these things. It’ll be late if we didn’t hurry."
"Okay, okay."
As Dylan started to move these things, he started to wonder about his uncle’s situation. Not to mention, there were also the situation of the other bases.
The explosion of these abilities people would surely affect them.
’Oh right, how about the mutated animals? I heard that the research team is also taking those mutated rats’ corpses.’
Dylan sighed and put the thought to the back of his mind.
...
Uncle Darien’s location.
As one of the five people who were controlling the base, Uncle Darien’s work was a lot. The pressure on his shoulder has been increasing lately because of the influx of the people who awakened abilities from the other families.
His small family didn’t seem to be eligible to participate in the slightest bit.
Knock! Knock!
"Come in."
Lucas entered the room with a stack of documents. He was usually doing errands and this time, it was not an exception. He had to deliver a few things that they could share using the internet but still use physical things.
Uncle Darien looked at the stack of documents, resisting the urge to burn them all.
"How come there are so many of them?"
"This is the report from the research institute." Lucas looked at Uncle Darien sheepishly. He was one of the few younger generation who was quite familiar with Uncle Darien because he played with Dylan occasionally in the past.
It might be one of the reasons why he was allowed to come here and be the one responsible to deliver these things.
Uncle Darien arched his eyebrows and nodded. "You can get out now."
"Uh, one more thing. Second Uncle said that he wanted to come and pay you a visit, Uncle Darien," Lucas said.
Second Uncle from Lucas’s family.
Uncle Darien furrowed his eyebrows. rom Lucy’s family, it was her second uncle who was one of the five leaders of the base. There were a lot of children in her family members and almost all of them entered military.
Many of them have important position and usually, if there was anything, this man would send one of them to pay a visit to Uncle Darien.
After all, as one of the five leaders, they were so busy every single day that they wished they could have 48 hours a day to help them finish everything they wanted to do.
Now that annoying man wanted to pay a visit personally?
Uncle Darien felt that there must be something important that he wanted to discuss. "Don’t tell me that the one from Jules Family is also coming here?"
"Yes." Lucas smiled sheepishly again.
Uncle Darien: "..."
There were only two siblings in Mark’s father’s generation direct family. One of the five people who lead the base was Mark’s father.
And since these two people wanted to come here...
Damn it, why do they want to come here?
They’re not planning to really establish the fact that the three families were ’collaborating’ with each other, are they?
The situation in this base was already quite sensitive and Uncle Darien didn’t want to increase any unnecessary contradiction.
