Chapter 262: 262. Coaxing
Salt can be used to lower the snow’s freezing point.
It was usually used before the snow come.
But the higher ups reaction was a bit slow this time. They had already asked for the salt, but it had only arrived recently due to the distance and also the snow on the road. These snow come faster than they thought.
Not to mention, there was also the incident when a lot of people have various abilities and so on not long ago.
Salt was poured on the road. Then, as snow falls, the salt mixes with the snow, lowering the freezing point. The result is a brine solution, which prevent subsequent ice forming. Thus, the road would be passable and there was no snow piling up.
It was what the base intends to do.
Now that they had the salt, they just needed people to work.
So, the mandatory task was released.
Anyway, it was for their own conveniences too to have their road cleaned, so the task was given to them. Once it was done, it was up to them to maintain it.
"They might have made a lot of salt when the temperature is hot back then," Anna commented. After all, salt was made through the process of evaporating the seawater, leaving only the salt left.
"Perhaps." Dylan nodded.
They walked out of the apartment and Dylan locked the door and also the anti theft door after they had passed. Both of them were carrying shovel, ready to work downstairs.
Splash! Splash!
The sound of the snow being shoveled could be heard as they reached the first floor. People from various buildings around had already started to work, piling the snow to one side.
When there was already enough snow, it would be brought to the place designated by the base.
"Are we going to carry the snow with shovel?" Anna asked with bewilderment.
"Of course not." An aunt who stayed in the same building as them laughed. "There’s a cart at the side that can be used to transport the snow."
Cart?
Anna looked at the side and saw the cart that the aunt mentioned. The cart was not very big, but it was better than using shovel.
"Let’s start working." Dylan nodded at the aunt to thank her for the explanation and then dragged Anna to the side.
"Uhm." Anna nodded, letting Dylan dragged her.
There were not many rooms that are filled in their apartment. Looking at it, there were only five to six other families gathered together in this apartment. There were also some of Anna’s classmates in the past.
Ethan and Coho were also there, already working with their shovel.
"Anna!" Ethan greeted with a smile.
Anna nodded in his direction and then started working, ignoring the others around her. She was not close with her classmates either, so greeting was only to be polite with them.
Ethan and Coho looked at Anna for a moment before they started working.
Everyone wanted to finish this job as soon as possible so that they could rest later. Besides, if they didn’t finish, who could bear having their contribution points deducted?
They would rather work hard rather than having their contribution points deducted.
It could be said that the base knew very well what they were thinking.
"Will there be any lazy people?" Anna asked curiously.
"There might be some rich people who will pay people to clean the snow in their yard," Dylan replied.
Anna thought about it for a moment and nodded thoughtfully. She herself had a lot of contribution points in her hand, but she didn’t really want to waste it like that. Anyway, shoveling snow was also quite fun.
At least, it was not a common activity.
Dylan saw Anna’s expression and chuckled. "Do you think it’s fun?"
"Well, for now." Anna also knew that this was not something that would last forever. She smiled at Dylan. "Do you want to tell me that if the snow last long, I’ll get sick with seeing snow in front of me?"
"I hadn’t said anything," Dylan said and laughed lightly. "But yeah, I don’t think that you will last long with looking at the pile of snow in front of you."
Anna looked at the pile of snow in front of her thoughtfully and could only nod with a sigh. She didn’t have much interest in snow either. The only reason why she was excited was because it has been a while since the last time she saw and play in snow.
"I see."
With a lot of people working together, it took them two to three hours to finish shoveling the snow in their area. The other people were also more or less done and there would be someone using the card to bring the snow to the designated area.
The others could only wait while shoveling the rest of the road.
"It’s quite tiring too." Anna stretched her hips and pursed her lips. She had never thought too much about it in the past, but now it felt really tiring if she had to work quickly and clean up everything like this.
"At least, it’s worth it." Dylan chuckled. "It’s still a long time before time for lunch. Do you want to pack up something to bring?"
"What?"
"Sandwich. I made bread last night," Dylan replied.
"You made bread?" Anna was stunned and looked at Dylan in surprise. Bread would take a long time to make because there was a lot of waiting. What time did Dylan fall asleep last night?
Dylan arched his eyebrows and stepped forward to Anna. "I’m a bit too excited last night."
Feeling his closeness, Anna’s face blushed. Her reddened cheek made her look really adorable, really making Dylan wanted to bully her a lot. He wanted to make her happy, yet at the same time, he also wanted to see how she looked like when she was crying.
He stretched his hand and put it behind Anna’s back and slowly leaned in for a kiss.
