Chapter 214. The Covert Competition
Chapter 214: 214. The Covert Competition
Uncle Darien’s face turned black when he heard this voice.
He turned around and saw a middle aged man with a young woman following behind him. Being seen by the other party like this, he had no other choice but to greet back, "Mr. Davis, Ms. Davis."
Mr. Davis nodded his head when he heard Uncle Darien’s greeting. He repeated the same question, "Are you in charge of this case?"
"Yes." Uncle Darien’s tone was alienated.
Dylan arched his eyebrows slightly. He could guess that the relationship between his uncle and this man was not very good. If it was good, there was no way Uncle Darien would treat them coldly.
Anna only blinked her eyes.
Honestly, she had no idea about what these people were talking about and why there were such a tense atmosphere. But she chose to stay quiet and watched from the side.
"If I’m not wrong, the victim is your nephew." Mr. Davis’s eyes passed by to look at Dylan for a moment and then back to look at Uncle Darien. "I don’t think it would be appropriate for you to be the one to handle this case."
Not appropriate? Uncle Darien sneered when he heard Mr. Davis’s words. How could he not know that this old man didn’t want him to find out the truth.
"Is it? It’s precisely because he’s my nephew that I have to find out the truth as fast as possible."
"If you were to handle the casa by yourself, you will naturally have a biased point of view. Don’t you know this, Mr. Daniels?" Mr. Davis looked at the man in front of him with cold look.
Uncle Darien snorted when he heard Mr. Davis’s words. "I can handle this matter. I’m more surprised that you have time to come here during your busy time. I thought that you will be taking care of your good niece again to collect a lot of things."
Mr. Davis’s eyes narrowed. "Tasha, let’s go."
The young woman who followed Mr. Davis replied in her sweet voice but her eyes were still looking in the direction of Dylan and the others. There was traces of unwillingness within her eyes.
Uncle Darien watched the two of them gone and sighed deeply. "Don’t get too close with them if possible."
"Do you have bad relationship with them?" Dylan asked back, his tone was calm.
"Their family is strange," Uncle Darien replied calmly.
"How strange."
"It’s not your business."
"If you want me to be careful, don’t you need to tell me something?" Dylan asked back, being stubborn.
"Come with me." Uncle Darien sighed and finally beckoned for these two to follow him. As for this case, he talked to the leader of the police officer to let him handle the case and not let anything happen.
The bomb has been diffused and now, they would be investigated to find out if there were anyone who built it.
After all, in some parts of the bombs, it might leave the fingerprints of the culprit.
But that was for the professional to deal with.
Uncle Darien handed it all over to his team and brought his nephew and Anna to the middle area and used his card to let them enter.
"We can enter?" Dylan asked in surprise.
"You’re my family members, so it’s not that strange to be able to enter," Uncle Darien replied calmly. "Besides, your grandfather missed you."
"Ah, how’s grandfather?" Dylan asked.
"He’s good. Since he come here, he has been helping me to deal with a lot of things." Uncle Darien was relieved with his father’s works and everything that happened lately. He had been quite overwhelmed and tired, but with his father helping, his works could be finished much earlier.
For Uncle Darien, it was the best.
Dylan nodded at his uncle’s words.
"It’s here."
Anna looked at the mansion in front of her and blinked her eyes. At the beginning, she thought that there would be a lot of restriction for the people who lived here. After all, the space was limited and the resources were also limited.
But she was wrong.
No matter where, the privileged people will always be privileged and had the chance to enjoy much better life than others.
"I’m back," Uncle Darien said as he entered.
"Master, you’re back." Butler Henry came out and his smile turned brighter when he saw Dylan and Anna behind Uncle Darien. "Young Master, Young Miss Anna, you’re here."
"Um. I have something to talk with my uncle." Dylan glanced at Uncle Darien.
Uncle Darien nodded. "They’re just here for a while. You can prepare some snacks for Anna."
"Thank you, Uncle Darien," Anna said happily.
Dylan looked at his uncle. This Uncle Darien didn’t prepare him anything, but he prepared snacks for Anna?
He had the faint feeling that his status in his own home was lower than Anna.
"Come here."
They entered the office room of Uncle Darien and he beckoned for them to sit down while he himself also sit down. Uncle Darien rubbed his forehead. "I don’t want to involve you in this mess."
"Even if you don’t want to, it would not guarantee those people would not target me," Dylan replied calmly.
"Yeah." Uncle Darien looked at his nephew. "How much do you know about the strange things that happened outside?"
"Strange thing as in strange phenomenon or strange people?" Dylan asked back.
Silence.
Anna didn’t understand why Dylan asked specifically, but she guessed that there would be something strange that Dylan noticed when he was outside. She didn’t like to go out, but it didn’t mean Dylan didn’t like to go out.
Uncle Darien looked at his nephew and sighed deeply. "Both."
Dylan shrugged. "Aside from the obvious thing that the temperature is rising so badly and hadn’t come down. Oh wait, the average has already lowered slightly, but in overall, it’s still very bad, I found that the animals are increasing, mostly insects out there."
