Chapter 202: 202. Meeting with Old Friends
Dylan came not long afterwards with Kitty in his arms.
"Kitty is still sleepy?" Mark frowned as he looked at the lazy cat in Dylan’s arm.
Dylan nodded. "I still don’t know the specific reason, but these animals might have sense something that we can’t detect."
Sense something we can’t detect?
Both Mark and Lucy were skeptical while Anna thought about the barrier in her mind that she vaguely sensed. However, she guessed that it would still take her some time to be able to reach it, much less breaking it.
So, Anna didn’t say anything to the others. She herself was not sure and there was no need to make others worry because of her speculation.
"Well, don’t worry so much, if there’s anything, Doctor Rovan will tell me," Dylan added.
"Ok."
The others nodded and then they started eating. Looking at the table full of food, Dylan and Anna’s lips twitched.
If this was normal times, it would be good. But at times like this, it really felt rather wasteful to eat so much.
"Don’t look at me like that, I only got married once, so what if I spend a bit more?" Mark asked arrogantly.
Lucy laughed happily.
Anna and Dylan looked at each other and shook their head.
They all eat to their fill and fell very satisfied. This time, they felt really full and almost didn’t want to move. It has been a long time since they eat so satisfyingly like this.
After their dinner, all went back to their respective apartment and rest.
...
The next day, Dylan brought the other three to the mission hall. He agreed to meet Nathan and Teri here.
The two young men were standing there, waiting for them.
"Nathan, Teri!" Dylan greeted with a smile. "Do you not bring anyone else?"
"Dylan!" Nathan waved his hand and then shook his head. "No, I don’t want to bring anyone else. The others are not too good to know about this."
Dylan nodded, not asking anymore. It was Nathan’s business to ask for someone and not disclosing this information to others.
"Does anyone else know about it?"
"Shouldn’t be." Nathan pointed at the parking lot. "Shall we go now? It’s going to be very hot when the sun come out later."
"Yes."
Now, almost everyone would start their activity at dawn or even before dawn. When it was midday, everyone would stay in a relatively cool place such as their own home or in the car. If they wanted to safe more money, they can also stay in the mission hall.
It was cool most of the time, but the space was a bit limited. So when it was midday, people were scrambling to come here. Those who couldn’t enter could only find other place for them to cool themselves.
Now, it was still deserted.
"What car do you use?"
"Off road car," Nathan replied. "It’s good to travel in uneven road, but if we want to bring a lot of things, it’s not that easy."
Dylan nodded.
Anna listened from the back and looked at the two people in front of her. She was not close to either Nathan or Teri, so she didn’t participate in their conversation. However, she felt that being able to have off road vehicle was very good.
But, isn’t an off road vehicle should be able to fit more things inside?
It was only when they reached the parking lot did she realize that the off road vehicle they had was a bit small. It looked like a standard car but with bigger tires and some modification?
Forgive her, she didn’t know much about car and couldn’t comment on it.
Anna could only stare at the car in front of her and looked at Dylan as if asking for his opinion.
"Isn’t this more like a family car?" Dylan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when he saw the car Nathan had.
*Ehem*
"Technically, it’s still an off road vehicle," Nathan said and then shrugged. "Shall we enter?"
"Ok. Mark, do you want to sit on the back or drive the truck?"
"I’ll drive the truck," Mark replied. He had better driving skills for truck compared to Dylan, so it would be better for him to be the one to do it.
"Got it."
They entered the car and then went out of the base. The soldiers guarding the gate only looked at their base card and then let them go. After all, what they wanted to do outside the base was up to them and they would not interfere in the slightest bit.
It was much easier to go out from the base compared to enter the base.
They slowly made their way to the business district. Looking at the road, Dylan furrowed his eyebrows. "Is the location within Sunshine Base?"
"No, it’s three district away," Nathan replied. "The people from Sunshine Base will definitely try to scavenge outwards, which is why I’m a bit worried."
"Hmm." Dylan nodded.
Looking at this area, Anna pursed her lips. She hoped that she would not encounter some annoying people who would make things annoying. No matter what, they had gone to different base and shouldn’t meet with each other again.
They made their way to the office building that they meant.
"Which floor?"
"Ninth floor," Nathan replied.
"Well, it’ll be quite the exercise." Dylan nodded and went to the staircase with the flashlight along with the other four.
Mark and Lucy would stay below to protect their cars. Car thieving was even more common and serious during this period of time. So, many people chose to group together to make sure that their car would not disappear midway.
The steps were dirty but at the very least, there was no sign of anyone coming here. This office building was only 10 story high and most of the floors were flooded. Other people might not want to come here because there were too few floors to be searched.
